I called Teague to have them look at a wired smoke detector I thought I had a problem with. When they arrived, the electrician said it was not a smoke decor wired to the security system, and he could not fix it. He did nothing more than look at it, then walked out. Came back few minutes later saying the charge was $125. ( You should know that Teague installed the wiring, smoke detectors and security system in the house when it was built.) After paying and thinking about what they charged me, I called the Teague office to discuss it. When I called, I was told the manager had just stepped out, but the receptionist said he would call me back when he came back. He never called back. If they came out and found a problem, and I decided not to have them repair it, I could see them charging me for the service call. But coming out, looking at it and telling me they could not work on it, and then charging me $125, I think is a poor business practice. They put the system in, so obviously they could work on it. And then not calling me back, another poor business practice. I will not call them again, they obviously have no concern for their customers, they only care about how much money they can get out of them. If you need an electrician, call elsewhere and get someone you can trust to do the work, not walk away with your money. read more

In August, my home was hit by lightning. I could smell burnt wiring. It was HOT outside and my AC didn't work. I called Teague Electric. My home wasn't safe for people to come in and repair things like the AC, TV, refrigerator, garage doors and ceiling fans. Gas and electricity were turned off until I could get a licensed electrician to inspect my home. Police and firefighters said it wasn't safe for me to stay there either. I had a bad experience with the company. One of their younger employees did not know exactly what he was dealing with on a job site I had been working on for more than 30 years. They made statements that were simply not true and the company was either not considerate at all to the situation or oblivious in the proper handling of it. On a Saturday over the Christmas holidays, we had an electrical fire caused by our internet provider drilling into our living room wall and cutting our main power line while attempting to install fiber optic cable! After putting out the fire, the fire department captain said we'd need a licensed electrician to repair the damage to our electrical system. After a half dozen calls, I still hadn't found an electrician willing to work on the weekend! Finally, one of the companies I called actually suggested I call one of their competitors, Teague Electric! There are a lot of services out there that require us to act in faith because, let's face it, our ignorance makes us vulnerable. So when we find an honest plumber, auto mechanic, contractor, etc., I think it's important to announce it rather loudly. Teague is definitely that company. They showed up on time (no 2-hour window), gave a good assessment of what needed to be done, gave me results that exceeded my expectations, and were very reasonably priced. I had them install an outdoor ceiling fan on my front porch, and an extra electrical outlet near my landscaping to use for a fountain and/or christmas lights. With the fan, he reinforced it with a joist so I can practically hang from it and took great care to position it so that not only does it provide great air flow, but looks really good from the curb. The outlet has it's own breaker switch and face plate with a hole for the electrical cord so nothing can get exposed to the elements. I'm just thrilled because not only were these things done exactly as I wanted, but I think they actually have added value to my house. read more

They have done an excellent job years ago installing our security alarm and their monitoring station has always been extremely quick in their response time when it was set off. Their staff was always courteous, polite, and professional. The pricing for services rendered was on par with market rates or even below. Definitely worth the decision to pick them for our elections. We had some electrical work done in our basement by Teague. They came highly recommended by our handyman whom we have a great deal of trust in and indeed, I think they did a good job on the electrical work they did. Their prices are a bit high compared to other quotes we got, but if you're looking for quality work, then rock-bottom prices may not be your goal anyway. There are two things that bring Teague down to a 3-star review. First, they damaged our newly installed and painted drywall when they installed one of the outlets. It's not super-noticeable and they were honest about it, but they didn't knock the price down even though we will have to do repairs (or pay our handyman to do it). Second, to add insult to injury, after writing a check for the full amount requested at the time service was rendered, I received a phone call today from a woman who stated in an accusatory tone, "You shorted us on the invoice." WTF? I paid what I was asked to pay at the time. So I told her to send me a bill and that I'd pay it, but being accused of trying to cheat Teague was not a part of the customer service relationship I had bargained for. Not even sure why she would think such a thing. She later called me back and told me it was their mistake and I had paid the correct amount. She did apologize after I told her I didn't appreciate her accusatory tone on the prior call, but really, the damage is done at this point. I'm not going to wait for a 3rd strike with Teague. The remainder of the work we need to have done will be done by a competitor. I wouldn't tell anyone to not use Teague because I do think their electrical work is good, but just keep in mind that the customer service experience might not be as pleasant as it should be. Note: As an update, following this review, I received an email from Jimmy England at Teague apologizing for the mistake and offering a free service call the next time they come (they add in about fifty bucks at each visit just for showing up which is a common practice). The few bucks I would save will not make a difference for me. The damage is done and I prefer working with a company that treats me respectfully. We are now using MVP for our electrical needs. read more

Had Teague work as a subcontractor for an outdoor project. Being in the construction industry for 20 years I've worked with a lot of contractors and subcontractors. This is my first one star review of any I've worked with. There are contractors out there that will take advantage of your situation and may over charge you when the opportunity presents itself (change orders). This is the case in my experience with Teague. The homeowner was on a deadline for a wedding reception and my normal electrician was booked for months and wasn't able to help us with project in order to meet the dead line. The owner Jimmy England with Teague met me onsite and gave me an original bid months earlier before work started the project for $1665.00. When it came time for the install they said they were two weeks out. Since the deadline was approaching fast I had another crew install the conduits and wire per what Teague said they would need so we could continue progress on the pergola and outdoor kitchen. Teague's foremen said they could do all of the connections. When it came time for Teague to do the hook ups and remaining connections they said it would be $2900 not the original $1665. I asked them how less work and less material was going to cost more? They said they had to install another circuit for the mist system. It seemed like they where taking advantage of our rushed timeline. After some back and forth with the owner we agreed to "time and material not to exceed $2300". The work was fine except they had difficulty pulling threw one conduit. Again Teague said it would be more money. I had a couple of my guys help locate the hang up in the conduit. One blockage was caused by a concrete stake that had damaged the conduit and another by Teague when they heated the pipe to make the bend toward the basement. Unfortunately we didn't make the deadline and the wedding preparty had to be inside the house. The bill came a few days later and the total was $2900 not $1665 like the original or $2300 like the not to exceed with no break down of the charges. After some back and forth I got a break down of the charges. Remember it was suppose to be time and material. The homeowner, my foreman, and myself tracked the time. I think Teague realized the original charges didn't add up when the started to do the break down. The break down came back with a new lower total of $2637.00. The discount was nice but still padded with 4.5 extra regular labor hours and an additional 4 hours for management costs, and charges for the labor in locating and repairing the pipe they melted. Needless to say I didn't want to pay the inflated bill or to fix the damages they caused. I've never paid for "bid and management" and that wasn't agreed upon. I must question the material costs if the labor was so inflated. They threaten a lawsuit and I reluctantly paid the bill. Be careful working with contractors even ones with good reviews can be very dishonest if not held accountable. read more
