    Street corn

Wanted something quick and yummy, so a trip to Tealux was in order. Haven't been there in a while, so thought it would be a good idea to pop in. Decided on take out because it was so cold inside. Odd because I was in there in November and it was freezing inside then. The street corn was yummy but it didn't have the floss on top like it normally does.

Love this place! The design is very modern and clean. I'm so happy they introduced crepes into their desserts. It was tasty and very big

Stopped by Tea Lux Cafe for a lil boba break and boyyy... this place is a must-sip spot. I ordered the Oat Brown Sugar Fresh Milk with boba and physically said "mmm" out loud like I was in a food commercial. Easily one of the best brown sugar flavors I've ever had. Rich. Creamy. Life-changing. Because I make reckless (and delicious) decisions, I also tried the New Blueberry Matcha Latte -- kinda like if blueberry pie and matcha had a sweet little baby. A bit sweet for me, maybe because I didn't give it a full mix... or maybe because I needed to add boba. Either way, still vibed with it. Grabbed some food to-go but peeped the vibe inside -- super cute, perfect for laptop warriors and remote work fam. Ordering at the kiosk was easy, and staff were super helpful if you had questions or just looked confused (me, always). Food-wise I picked from staff's favorites: Spicy Bulgogi Banh Mi (with egg) -- Solid crunch. Flavor was decent, but could've used more bulgogi. Will definitely go extra spicy next time. Fried Buttered Corn -- crunchy, buttery, and served with sausage. It had a lot going on flavor-wise. Fun to try, but next time I'd probably go for the popcorn chicken instead. Final verdict: Come for the drinks -- I'll be sprinting back to try the whole menu. ‍ Food was decent -- a quick, easy spot for a light bite while you sip something fun.

First walking in, it was heavily decorated with suede-like chairs (maybe initially a good idea but now covered in stains). There was a game table in the middle for people to play board games. I was looking for an authentic Vietnamese place with some good street food but this was not it. First, all of the food was pretty expensive, especially with the banh mi being so small. Second, it took a really long time for them to make the food. Bánh mì đặc biệt 3/10 The bread was a regular baguette and was not made of the typical banh mi bread. There was no flavor and was quite bland. The sandwich was also extremely small and over priced at almost $8 Bot chiến 7/10 This was pretty good and had all of the components one would expect. The only downside was there wasn't much papaya and it was expensive at $10 Boba 7/10 This was a little too sweet and a bit over priced at $7 for a large Overall, the place did not deliver and was very Americanized. As a Vietnamese person, I've been struggling to find Vietnamese food on both sides of the peninsula. I like that they had bot chien but that was it.

Delicious bubble teas, bahn mi sandwiches and popcorn chicken!! We ordered ordered 4 bubble teas, a couple sandwiches, and two popcorn chicken so we had to wait a bit for the food but it was worth it. The sandwiches are small but tasty! The jasmine tea with passionfruit bubbles really hit the spot on a hot day!

Tealux is my go-to boba spot, specifically the Tidewater location for its cleanliness and cute interior. Friendly service can be a hit or miss here, but you can also opt to order at their self-serve kiosk. I have not tried the food at this location, but the crepes look very appetizing and I will try them in the future. The tea never disappoints!

Not gonna lie, I really love this place! I always come here with friends to try out new drinks and see what ends up being our new favorite on the menu. They've got a couple of fun games too my friends and I played Jenga while chatting, which made the experience even better. The service is always super nice and welcoming, and the drinks are pretty solid. I especially enjoyed the new ube latte definitely worth trying!

This place has got to be one of my favorite Banh Mi sandwiches. Plus they are reasonably priced. Along with their drinks. What makes the sandwich speacial is that they make there own "pate" that they spread inside the sandwich. Also they toast the nice french crunchy bread plus they can adjust the level of heat in your sandwich. I ordered the Bulgogi sandwich which is my favorite! Alot of flavor and the meat is always juicy. Also ordered the Taro bubble tea to top it off! Haven't found a better Bunh Mi yet in the area. I at least go hear once a week, so you might catch me. Did I mention the service was great and decore very stylish. Definitely a place you will always go back too!

I've been a Tealux customer since their opening weekend and always make it a point to stop by if a friend asks to meet up there or if I'm in the area. I've enjoyed all the drinks I've tried, but their boba has always been a bit too sweet for me (and I like sweet). Sometimes it comes to the point where it feels like the brown sugar flavor from the boba slightly overpowers the flavor from the tea. Either way, I really enjoy their drinks, and since they do have a variety of toppings, I might start opting out for a jelly topping next time for a more balanced sweetness. Recommend taking advantage of their rewards program and app!

Strawberry smoothie w/tapioca. Need I say more?

On the way back to Newport News, Sophia convinced me to stop here for a treat. We first came here via Yelp's 7.57 deal almost 2 years ago where I had milk tea and a sub sandwich. We have been to the Ghent location many times and always enjoyed their selections. So after leaving Always Latte from the Yelp Experience event close by, this stop had to end the Norfolk trip on a high note. Or did it? We were greeted by the staff upon walking in and there were a few people seated. They were quite busy with orders, which is a great thing. And like before, the vibe was welcoming. Can't ask for anything more. At first, I wasn't gonna order anything since I already had dessert. But you know what? Why not order something?! So I went on ahead and chose a strawberry smoothie at 50% sugar with tapioca balls added. I gotta admit this was very good. And quite honestly, the best item I've had from Tealux Cafe. This smoothie was packed with flavor and you can never go wrong with tapioca. This right here kept me satisfied during the drive home. You know I'll be back here the next time we're in the area. Till next time :)

Tealux Cafe is one of the cutest milk tea cafes I've visited. Everything is bright and sunny. They have two locations around Norfolk, and according to their website, they will be opening another one in Virginia Beach. I like Tealux because other than milk teas, they also serve macarons, popcorn chicken, Banh Mi Sandwiches, and other Vietnamese street foods. I always order Thai Tea, and it is delicious. Their Banh Mi Sandwiches are delicious and a must-try. The price is reasonable and their staff is friendly and nice. If you are a milk tea lover, TeaLux should be on your list.

Spotless, with plush chairs that would not look out of place with the addition of large googly eyes. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. First timers should try the macarons, which are packaged in appropriately adorable cellophane bags so cute you'll be tempted to keep them when when the cookies are gone. I recommend the lemon which cuts the super-sweetness of the bubble teas. This location also has a selection of boxed games to play while you wait. HOWEVER, be prepared for prices that seem quite high for what is essentially tea and cookies. I paid over $16 for a small cold tea and 5 macarons roughly the size of an Oreo. Good, but I'm not sure if it's $1.60 each good. That being said, the macarons were nice and chewy and flavorful. I tried it on a whim, but I don't know if I'll come back.

Tealux is such a cute spot to satisfy a boba or nice tea craving! I went with my little sister because we were in the mood for a nice cold drink & boba sounded delicious! When you walk in you do have an option to either order on the kiosk or from someone behind the counter! I watched them carefully make our drinks! My sister had the oat brown sugar boba drink. She rated it a 8.7/10! She said it had a nutty taste, which she enjoyed! The tapioca balls were nice too! I had the Luna with was a jasmine tea with lychee! It was delicious! I am definitely going to make this my go to drink when I'm in the area!! I rate this a 9.1/10! The service was good! The staff were quiet and focused, but also friendly! Check them out! :)

Gong Cha is to the left of the set up when you walk in. There are two self-order kiosks. There are menus on TV screen overhead, but the way the drinks are set up on the ordering system was a bit confusing, as I had a hard time finding the one I wanted on the system. I ended up having to ask for assistance anyway (this is why I don't think robots can take over the world entirely LOL). I opted for the mango green tea marble tea. I honestly ordered it for the looks, but the taste turned out to match the looks! It had a hint of the green tea minus the bitterness and the mango flavoring was a nnit creamy but not super thick! I added some rainbow jelly and it was so good! I would definitely get this again! Also, on the Gong Cha side, they made a whole pink flower wall section/corner thing. Fun photo opp! SKIP Kotobuki in Norfolk - Worst Sushi Experience EVER…read more Kotobuki in Ghent is a disaster. I gave this long-running spot a second chance, after a poor first experience, and it was a mistake. A friend insisted we return, and the service was shockingly bad, the sushi was subpar and the overall experience was the worst. From the moment you walk in, Kotobuki screams neglect: dead plants, servers dressed like they're doing yard work and a pervasive smell of old fry oil. We had reservations for the "traditional Japanese" sunken-table room, where we removed our shoes and climbed into our seats. One dirty pair of slippers sat at our table, while a random pair of construction boots lay abandoned nearby. The "ambiance" was completed by 70s soft rock -- Lionel Richie instead of "traditional Japanese" music. Our server took my order for a dirty Stoli martini, then disappeared for an absurd amount of time only to return and say they couldn't make it -- with no explanation. We hunted through the limited menu while our server vanished completely. The owner eventually stopped by, and I had to specifically request a sushi list. Tired of sitting cross-legged, I briefly put my feet into the pit under the table. Rather than place my bare feet on the filthy floor, I slipped my shoes back on for a moment. That's when the owner's daughter stormed over and aggressively accused me of saying, "Screw you and screw Kotobuki -- I'm not following the rules!" She launched into a rude, insulting lecture about "Japanese custom" while I sat there stunned. I immediately took my shoes off again, just to de-escalate, but the evening was ruined. No customer should be verbally assaulted over something as basic as not wanting bare feet on an obviously dirty floor. In an awkward position, not wanting to ruin the evening, I ordered my food. The sake was watery and flavorless, the house salad was sad, wilted iceberg lettuce drowning in bottled ginger dressing, and the sushi arrived lukewarm with questionable rice that called for a palate blinding amount of wasabi. It was boring, poorly prepared, and far below average. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Hand to God! Had this not been a special evening with a dear friend, I would have walked out the second the owner's daughter chastised me at the table. Management at Kotobuki clearly doesn't care about customer service or basic standards -- especially when family members are allowed to treat patrons this way. "Japanese tradition" doesn't excuse poor hygiene, rude staff or substandard food. In America, we have health codes for a reason. If you want decent sushi in Norfolk, go literally anywhere else. Kotobuki is just a lazy dive. There's nothing special on the menu, very little sushi selection and nobody seems to care. If you choose to ignore this warning, lower your expectations folks, you are about to be disappointed. The only thing good about this restaurant, is the opportunity to tell you how much it sucked.

He also got the taro boba. He liked it, but I personally am not a fan of their taro boba. It has this powdery taste to me that I don't get from other places, so I usually skip the drinks there. There was a bit of a mix-up with ordering. They have a value deal where you get 6 wings + a boba for about $9.95. Pho 79 still clears it when it comes to flavor. Every single one of us loved the broth, which honestly says a lot. Clean, rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. We ordered widely--appetizers, pho, bánh mì, and boba teas--and the food itself was consistently good. The bánh mì sandwiches are solid, and if you're a boba lover, this is one of the better spots around. The boba is made with half-and-half and crushed ice blended on a Vitamix, which (in my opinion) is exactly how it should be done. That said, this is where the fourth star comes in. The prices feel high for the portion sizes, especially for pho--and on top of that, there's an added charge for takeout containers, which makes the total sting a bit more than expected. Service has improved compared to past visits--we returned in December 2025 and the staff was noticeably friendlier--but the restaurant is clearly very understaffed. We saw multiple tables with finished food sitting for quite a while, and if you're not seated in the front section near the entrance, there's a real chance the staff may forget about you. Patience is definitely required. One small public service announcement: the payment screen calculates suggested gratuity on taxes and fees. As a former server, I personally don't love that practice (tipping on tax was never the norm for me). No stars off for that--just something to be aware of.
