I've been taking my car here for years and I'll give the good and bad The Good: *They have a shuttle service. They will pay for an uber or Lyft to take you within a certain range and pick you back up. It's great for remote workers to drop off before work and pickup at lunch etc. *They usually send out $20 oil change coupons The bad: *The coupons are to get you in the door and sell your car or buy a new one. Every time I have went they are texting me or giving me fliers about selling my car. I'm willing to put up with this for the $20 oil change. *The following happened to me today and I'm VERY irritated. I bought tires at Costco and they TOOK OFF my Costco sticker for when my tires need to be rotated and sent me home with a sheet noting an alignment should be done next visit and it is $189. So now I have to call Costco to ask when my car should be serviced by them because Toyota removed the sticker. Removing the sticker had me furious as soon as I noticed at the light pulling out. It reminded me of another situation. Prior to getting new tires at Costco my car had only been serviced at Toyota. My tires needed a tool to get them off. So Costco could not take them off, I called Toyota who informed me they wouldn't have used my tool as they use a universal one. I sure as heck wasn't in my replacement tire area removing any of the tools. So I had to order the tool to get the tire off, make another appointment at Costco. Just a giant waste of time and now my time is wasted again because they removed the sticker. It's sad, I think this was my last visit to Team Toyota Service..over a sticker. read more

I verfied availability via online and was confirmed the vehicle was available. I drove over 50 miles from Illinois to potentially purchase the vehicle and found out it was sold the previous day. I decided to look at another vehicle and it had a bubble on the front tire. They were trying to sell me a vehicle that visibly had defects. I was disappointed to see that this dealership uses similar "industry tricks" to take advantage of clueless or first-time buyers to maximize their commissions. I saw a vehicle I was interested in online. Despite only having photos of the exterior posted and being ~45 min from the dealer, I still reached out for a test drive. When I first arrived, I was shocked to see the windshield had a substantial crack, the steering wheel was incredibly worn down and beat up, and the interior smelled like they were covering up pet or smoke odor. None of this damage was listed online. When they presented the price breakdown, the vehicle was quoted $500 more than the online price and their dealer add-ons (including $900 "reconditioning fee") added another ~$1,300 to the price tag. If I had known the online price would be $1,800 more before doc fees/taxes/titling, I would have never bothered. To add insult to injury, they appraised my trade-in at less than half of the estimated Kelley Blue Book trade-in value at the worst possible condition using the only the base model; they did not account for the OEM package add-ons we had. When I asked about it, they mentioned they have no control because it's based solely on VIN. Needless to say, it was easy to walk from this dealership. My recommendation - avoid this dealership and any dealer that passes "dealer add-ons" to you. If there's more than just vehicle price, doc fee, tax, and title - walk away. read more

Jeremy is a fantastic representative who goes above and beyond for people. My 2017 Corolla needed about $2,000 worth of maintenance work which required the entire day for the mechanic to work on and into the next day. Jeremy brought the total cost down from $2,600 to 2,100. He also provided me with a rental car for the day at no cost to me. He also changed the battery to my car key when I came back to pick the car up. A few strikes on this dealer, I should have gone to a different dealer after the first strike, my fault on that. (1) They are doing you a favor by allowing you to shop there. I bet you didn't know that! (2) If you buy a new (yes, new) vehicle, make sure you have your own mechanic look at it prior to taking delivery. This will be difficult for some folks as the anticipation of getting their new car can be high. If you can't get your mechanic there, at least schedule an appointment shortly after taking possession. Go directly from this dealer to your mechanic. Make sure you record the odometer before you leave here and when you arrive at your mechanic. Hopefully, this effort will have been for nothing. Worst case, you have "a case". Don't expect them to help or work with you, get a lawyer immediately. Treat them like they're treating you. (3) If you detect any unreasonableness and/or attitude of any kind that seems "off" and unbecoming someone trying to sell you a very expensive item, do yourself a favor and head for the door. I brought my Tacoma in for a normal oil change. In short, they stripped the oil filter housing and didn't tell me. I go to change the oil about 6 months later and find I'm unable to get the housing off. Disappointed by Poor Handling of a Service Error I brought my car in for a routine oil change special and, as expected, was advised of additional work needed. After agreeing on a price, I received my car back the next day with the work supposedly completed. One day later, I returned to the dealership because the engine undercover was dragging on the ground--with a work rag still attached. Mistakes happen, and I can accept that. What's frustrating is how it was handled. I had to come back again for them to remove the part and schedule yet another visit (my third in one week) to have it replaced. When I returned for the final fix, the receipt said the mechanic "found" the car in that condition--fine, if that's the story. What really disappointed me was how my inconvenience, the potential for damage, and the risk posed to me and others on the road were acknowledged: with a free car wash worth $5. No apology, no accountability--just a $5 gesture for multiple trips and a serious oversight. Accountability matters. I hope this review does what the dealership wouldn't. read more

I had a good experience buying a car through Team Toyota! I've always wanted a hybrid car so when I saw a 2022 Corolla on Cars.com I sent them a message and they got back to me the same day. I came from Chicago so it was a bit of a drive but Devon was super responsive with my questions and put the keys aside for me to test drive it. He was great and answered all my questions. I had a minor issue with the windshield fluid after I bought it and he helped me by setting me up with Jeremy in the service department to get it fixed and they took care of it. So far I am in love with the car and it runs well. I agree with other reviews about the "recondition fee" being a bit weird but they're willing to play ball. Pretty happy overall! read more

Chose to buy a vehicle at this dealership because of an exceptional advertised price. Put down a non refundable deposit. Vehicle wasn't ready upon arrival. Trade in was under valued and disguised by including the tax benefit. Salesman stated financing was only available through Toyota finance but claimed to be unaware of the advertised APR for qualified buyers. Waited over 4 hours alone at salesman's desk to sign paperwork and wasn't given an overview of the vehicle's options and accessories upon completion of sale. Strike 3, you're out. 3 times, I had bad experiences with this dealership's repair center. Bottom line, they will quote you grossly-inflated repair prices, and half-ass fix things on your car. Worse, a few staff members are passive-aggressively condescending when they use that typical car-dealership fake "upbeat" personality. It's just an attempt to get on your better side to fool you in buying. Since Yelp allows so many characters to write, I am limited in my words. My last recent experience, I was recommended by William (front desk person) that I MUST have my back brakes/rotors replaced NOW (said to me in an emergency type of voice). Unbelievably, insulting my intelligence, he used a tire example on his desk to show me how my brakes are worn down: how are brakes and tires the same thing?? Both are completely different! The video they showed me of pending work from the serviceman: noone showed me my brakes at where they were worn down to! Also, I was told my back rotors' "lines are showing" and were bad. WRONG! I seeked a 2nd opinion elsewhere: that tech explained and showed me my actual brakes (about 40% worn) as compared to new brakes. Also said the lines on rotors are normal and not necessarily indicative as a problem. So, why would Toyota say my rotors lines are indicative as bad??? Just another attempt to get me to buy something I do not need at the moment and can wait about 6 months to a year. Other grossly overpriced and misleading quote: gasket on transmission drain plug needed replacing, as it was leaking. NOT TRUE! The screw was only loose and just needed to be tightened. WOW. Regarding the staff member: Lisa is passively-aggressive and with her unnecessary comments. During my 2nd experience, her left-field comment about my "bougie" sunglasses?? "Bougie" as an urban insult word! Why is she commenting about my sunglasses in the first place, when it has nothing to do with why I came to Toyota, to have my car fixed. Worst car buying experience of my life.  I tried to work something out with the dealer before posting these bad reviews, but they went dark on me.  I completed a survey that was emailed to me and Edward Akers (General Manager) reached out via email stating "I am sorry to hear your experience with us did not meet your expectations.  We value your business and would like the opportunity to resolve this issue."  I replied to his email on June 25 and followed up again on June 29, July 4, and lastly July 10.  I never received a response back.  Here were the issues we experienced: 1. I live 1.5 hours away from this dealer.  I knew the exact vehicle and model number I wanted, so when Team Toyota told me they had it, I left work to go get it that same day.  I asked for an out-the-door price before heading there, as I did not want to negotiate once I got there. The out-the-door price was emailed over to me.  After spending 6 hours at the dealer (see next complaint), they tried to get me to sign paperwork that was higher than the number provided earlier in the day.   2. We arrived at the dealership around 4:30 pm.  We didn't leave until after 10:30 pm.  It should NOT take 6 hours to buy a car.  We didn't test drive the vehicle at all since we knew exactly what we wanted (and the vehicle wasn't ready for us to test drive anyway), and price was already negotiated and finalized.  They (Jake Fleming) told us they were understaffed with the financing department. The staff knew that we were coming from far away, and nobody mentioned that waiting and coming the next morning would be a better option.   The employees kept telling us that we're next and that it should "only be 30 more minutes" and hours would go by. The lights in the dealership were turned off while we were still in the finance office.  All the managers left us there alone with the finance person, so when we discovered the pricing issue mentioned above, they made us feel like it was a big deal because the managers already left and there was nobody to talk to.  So they had to call and track down a manager for approval to correct the documents.   3. The car wasn't ready until 10pm or later.  The car arrived at their lot that day.  Again, I was very clear on the exact car I wanted, and they knew we were coming from far away.  They also knew our ETA as I was in constant communication with the salesman (Michael Patricio). They let us see the car shortly after we arrived to make sure it was what we were expecting, but wheels weren't fully inspected / installed so we couldn't safely test drive or anything.  They took the car back to the shop to "finish getting it ready" and they didn't bring it back out to us until 10pm or later.  Again, if they had this much work to do on the car before we were allowed to take it, we would have come the next day.  Instead, the dealership poorly communicated with us every step of the way, and has done nothing to try and "resolve this issue" to use their words. read more

Salesman was neither professional nor respectful. One of the ticking points was when I commented on the nice toyota highlander in the showroom. I just mentioned how nice it was and he stated that we should look at the cars I can afford 'jokingly'. I ignored the comment as he does not understand my finances and I should not need to elaborate. However, when negotiating car prices they did reduce price for the vehicle but would not take off the ridiculous "reconditioning fee". I understand the vehicle was serviced but the fact the car still smelled strongly of dog and my gf was in the backseat and is allergic to dogs. General Manager came over and refused to conduct business as they would not remove the recondition. I stated I'd rather not waste both of our time and move on. Best decision ever, snagged a hybrid Honda and love it! BMW of schererville is much more customer friendly, easy to talk to, doesn't smell like tires, and negotiated well! read more

And don't stand on side of the warranties they tighten your load too tight on your vehicle and then you can't get them off and they want to charge you additional fees very smart and I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody. Car we bought came with a warranty, but b/c we didn't put money in Julie's pocket with buying an extended warranty, she made a shitty comment as we were leaving about "good luck getting home since you didn't buy any warranties" should I take that as a threat? As soon as she realized we weren't buying any of her warranties she became a total different person. When you pay cash for a vehicle, you shouldn't have to talk to finance manager. Toyota you should thank your sales team for the sale, maybe talk to your finance manager b/c we will not be a repeat customer of this dealership. read more

This WAS a good place to go for sales and service. We're not sure what happened but, the wait for oil change and tire rotation is ridiculous. We had a 10:00 an appointment and had 10 cars ahead of us! Since the pandemic it seems as though customer service has declined. I had serious problems with Toyota financial and the lease paperwork. They made it VERY OBVIOUS that you should buy out the lease through them. We saved over $2,500 going with our credit union. read more

Recently took my vehicle a Toyota Highlander 2019 that I purchased from Team Toyota of Schererville for its 5,000 mile service on 6/02/23. They run an inspection report and suggested I change my brake fluid and perform an alignment on my car. They used a video of a worn out tire that did not belong to me to make the justification. After I noticed the fraud they had done, I went back to the dealership on 7/1/23 and asked them for a pre- inspection alignment report and a post - alignment report. The customer agent I worked with, Mr. Jeremy Tessman refused to print out the the post inspection report claiming he did not have access to the serviceman bay computer. Attached you will find pictures and video of the fraud video and picture of the tire they used to scam me. The vehicle is garaged and the mileage on it is 26,847. This is not a vehicle that is abused at all. At this point I just want a refund of $160.00 for the scam they tried to run over me. The first picture shows the worn out tire they used to perpetrate the fraud. The rest of the tires are the current state of my tires. You be the judge if you can trust these charlatans with your vehicle and hard earned money. The total bill was $519.29. This is not the peace of mind I expected when getting service from a Toyota dealership. It took almost 2 hours for me to get an oil change. It takes at minimum 1.5 hours even with an appointment (I've been here twice). WIFI is free, so bring a laptop to keep you occupied! There is still a sales aspect in the service area so I don't necessarily trust the recommendations but I go to a local mechanic that is half the cost. read more

After dropping off his car, the brakes on my van blew out while leaving the parking lot the day before we were taking a family day trip to Lafayette. (We were lucky that the brake line blew when and where it did and not while we were on I65!) Chris and Jeremy made the whole process as painless as possible swapping out the vehicles. My car needed a water pump. Uggh an expensive fix. I was happy with price quote from Toyota but of course they charge extra in the end. My repair took about 8 hours and they allowed me a rental. Yippee cause that saved me. My car still makes a rough start up sound but not a rattling sound when I drive. I came here to look at a car the other day and I was very impressed with the people who run this dealership. Everybody was friendly and professional. They offered to let me test drive multiple cars and asked me several times if I needed help or had any questions. My experience here was very pleasant and I'll be back here in the future if ever given an opportunity. 2 stars pretty much because the place was clean and the building was nice. It ends there. I walked around the showroom and there were sales people and not one of them smiled or said hello. I wasn't in my nicest clothes, I was in comfortable ones because I was just in a car accident (hence looking for a new car) so I don't know if they just assumed I had no money or what the deal was. After about 3 minutes or so I actually set the stopwatch on my phone because it was so weird. I went outside and looked at a few cars. Looked at my stopwatch and eventually about 10 minutes went by. Not one person asked me how I was doing or if they could help. I guess they must sell a lot of cars here and don't need my business. I went to many dealerships today and everyone was very fast to say hello or if they were busy at least say hello and that they would be with me in one moment. Just found truck that fit my needs. Salesman Rick was great. Manager mike was a professional. However, when going to sign Documents...the upselling continued I decline one,two,three different offers. Attitude came with my refusals. "What you don't think it's a good deal?,or you just don't want to spend the money " Really? Then she said I'll just write down that you don't want any of these offers..... Atta girl....thank you I said. Let proceed. Excuse me she said....I'm not a girl!!!!!! Here we go...race card, disrespect blahs blahs I then said later..... im done here , deals off. I walked out... took my keys...
