Man, am I so glad there's a boba place in Alvin finally! It may not be perfect, but I think there's lots of room to improve so that this place becomes an Alvin staple. I've been here 4 or 5 times now and had items including smoothies, slushes, milk teas, and regular teas, and while they're all tasty, my lort they are teeth rottingly sweet. There's no option to request less sweetness like most boba places have these days, because whatever powders or flavoring they use is already sweetened. The only thing they've said they could do is add more water, but then you lose the flavor of the beverage. Still, I enjoy their teas after a workout, and getting one of the more decadent things is a nice treat once in a while. The shop is clean and sleek looking, and the staff has always been friendly. The only down side is that if there's more than a single person in the store, service is terribly slow. I've waited more than 10min to get my drink before when there was a small group of 3-4 folks who had ordered before me. Today was the fastest service I've ever had and it was still about a 5min wait for a regular tea that just needed to be shook/stirred up. The other downside, in my opinion, is the lack of veggie/vegan options on their food menu. I would LOVE to try their banh mis and spring rolls, but it's like there's some law in Alvin that says no one can serve anything with tofu. I ask for tofu every time I'm there, in hopes they'll finally add it, but I'm sure I'll be waiting quite a while. Overall, I like this place, and since they've cornered the market here in Alvin, I'll keep going back. I'll also keep hoping they adjust the way they make things so they can be ordered at different sweetness levels and asking for tofu banh mis and spring rolls, too. Bonus tip: They accept call ahead orders. I haven't done this yet because I'm not entirely 'fluent' in their offerings, but once you figure out what you like, this is almost certainly the best way to avoid an interminable wait. PSA: The entrance/stairs to this place aren't super handicap friendly. They do have a ramp on the far side of the parking lot, but it's still quite a bit of a walk to still get into the shop if you can make it up the ramp.

Cute new boba place! They have lots of interesting teas you don't always find, which is nice. My jasmine tea was a bit over brewed, but it wasn't too bitter. All the teas are sweetened. The boba is good! It's not over or under cooked :) they also have a mini fridge of some sodas for $1 and some chip bags and trail mix. I do wish they had more variety of bobas and jellies though.

This has happened on more than one occasion - when menu items would be unavailable - but never to the extent of today. The staff is no help either. I finally gave up on the app and called. There's a whole story there too but I'm tired of typing. SOOOO I hope someone management or corporate see this. If you don't have any food it pisses people off. I can't believe I keep going back but that tea...

When we arrived, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially considering the large group we brought. They took our orders quickly, the food came out at a nice pace, and the restaurant itself was clean and well-kept. I ordered the French Dip. It was not the worst I have had, but definitely not the best either. The baguette was softer than I expected, and I prefer sturdier bread since the au jus usually makes it soggy. The roast beef was also a little dry, although dipping it in the au jus helped with that. On the side, I chose the potato salad, which was very good. It was seasoned well, the potatoes were cooked perfectly, and it had a refreshing flavor that balanced out the creaminess of the mayo-based sauce and the heaviness of the sandwich. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but the food did not leave a lasting impression. It was good for a casual meal with a group, though I would not go out of my way to come back on my own.

We don't talk about Alvin, TX enough so let me shed some light on this great place. I've had…read moreGordon Street Tavern on my list for awhile for the simple fact that they sell scotch eggs. You just don't see that often and I wanted to try it. The stars aligned and my family and I met up here for a weeknight dinner. Alvin is the true definition of a small town. It is just south of Pearland and life moves a little slower out here. Atleast for time being as it is becoming more developed now. The building itself is old and full of character. Everyone seemed to know each other. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but service was a tad bit slow at times. My family isn't a big drinking family so we stuck with water and sodas, but they have quite a nice bar program here. They have a really impressive beer selection, a long list of specialty cocktails and lots of wine to choose from. I'm definitely coming back to check that out without the fam. For appetizers, we got an order of the scotch eggs and the Bavarian pretzel sticks. This was my first introduction to scotch eggs and a wonderful one at that. You really can't go wrong with anything wrapped in sausage and deep friend. It was a nice treat and something I will not be sharing next time. The pretzels were also very good. Our waitress suggested some cheese sauce to accompany those. These sticks of goodness were excellent. For my entree, I was stuck on a few items as their menu is pretty extensive. Our waitress said my option for the Pork Milanesa was the way to go, so I did. I've had milanesa at Mexican restaurants, but never in a tavern nor prepared this way. This was hand battered in panko and then topped with a mushroom gravy. It comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes but I substituted the veggie for mac and cheese. This dish was very good and the portions were very generous. Enough for me to have a full second meal minus the sides. The pork was thinly pounded and kept it's crunch even doused in gravy. The gravy was rich and very delicious. My family got a mix of items like the philly cheese steak, flat iron steak salad, tavern salad, and chicken fried steak. For research purposes and for my loyal readers, I tried everything. There wasn't anything that was bad to me. We were full so desserts didn't happen on this trip. Overall, Gordon Street Tavern is a solid spot that I would happily return to if in the area.

I've been wanting to try Red Oak Cafe for a while…read more I love their back story and Christian theme. My friend & fellow elite and I arrived on a Saturday around 11AM and didn't have to wait for a table. I had the Big Breakfast which includes 2 pancakes. They have so many different mix-ins for their pancakes, anyone's bound to find their perfect mix-in combo. I think I found mine with the banana pecan mix-ins and sides of strawberry butter. The pancakes are huge. I ended up taking one home. The bananas weren't too sweet and had the perfect amount of ripeness for the pancakes. I ended up getting 2 sides of strawberry butter but could've easily eaten like four of the small . The biscuit with the big breakfast was fluffy and delicious especially with the yummy strawberry butter. The eggs over medium were cooked perfectly. The cheddar jalapeno grits were a little bland but did the trick. I tried my pal's hash browns and they were perfectly seasoned and thoroughly cooked but not crispy. The hash browns are definitely the better option over the grits. The bacon was delicious and perfectly crispy. I asked the waiter for crispy but not burnt bacon and he got it just right. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The waiter was super personable and helpful. I felt like I was at breakfast Disneyland. I was able to get anything I wanted with no problem and with the kindest most helpful attitude from the waiter. I look forward to returning!
