Once I was able to determine the cause wasn't COVID but maybe some other virus I transported the carcass into Shasta Computer Repair but with little hope for resurrection. He acted like what I needed was beneath him. Kind of like "anyone could do that" and also that he knew what was wrong without seeing the device and that I was stupid for even asking, and that he was soooo busy he couldn't be bothered. Bad experience. I'll go to Urban Integrity in Red Bluff, as I hear they are nice and do good work. Edit: I hardly think a polite "thank you" is considered "gruff" in anyone's book. They also do not do diagnostics after their work to make sure things work. The employee David asked for my son's pass code which is shady and security risk and also said I should not turn on "maintenance mode" which is for Samsung phones for security and privacy when getting repairs done. All of this has been super shady and dishonest. Then he lied saying he told me on the phone it was not official parts... which is a lie because he did not and the law still says it has to be in writing. Seems they have shady cons going on here. Another store down the street charges the exact price they charged me but for the official OEM parts! Do not appreciate having my time and money wasted.

While travelling I dropped the laptop on pavement..ugh...no visible damage but strange noises told me something was broken inside (though the computer still worked, it got hot). I took it to the geek squad, they shipped it to their repair facility and 6 weeks later it was returned unrepaired because they could not get the part from their supplier. I saw the great reviews John got from his customers, called him, dropped off the laptop and he repaired it in a little over a week.
