by law they are supposed to put it IN WRITING if they are going to use generic non OEM parts. The do not do this BUT they charge the price of the official OEM parts! They also do not do diagnostics after their work to make sure things work. The employee David asked for my son's pass code which is shady and security risk and also said I should not turn on "maintenance mode" which is for Samsung phones for security and privacy when getting repairs done. All of this has been super shady and dishonest. Then he lied saying he told me on the phone it was not official parts... which is a lie because he did not and the law still says it has to be in writing. Seems they have shady cons going on here. Another store down the street charges the exact price they charged me but for the official OEM parts! Do not appreciate having my time and money wasted. read more

BEWARE: I had a terrible experience with Redding Smart Repair and strongly advise against using their services. The two young guys there are either dishonest or incompetent. I brought in a brand-new iPad Air and an old, broken iPad for a data transfer. They told me they had to repair the old iPad for $125, but then they would do the transfer for free. A few days later, when they said the repair was completed, we brought the new iPad. I said I could probably do the transfer myself, but they talked me into leaving my "very nice", unlocked iPad Air with them. They said it would only take about an hour, then two, then "tomorrow at noon", then the first guy wasn't even there until 1:35. Meanwhile the second guy couldn't even give us an update, just "It's in a weird mode, I don't know what it's doing." When the first guy showed up, they claimed the iPad was dead because they were using a bad charger. I asked if I could take the old iPad, they brought it out and there was still a black line through the middle of the screen. After giving them a couple more hours to charge and transfer, they told me the iPad had gone into recovery mode due to corrupted data. "It's nothing you did, and nothing we did, it just happens sometimes." Best Buy confirmed it was just an account lock, easily fixed, and walked us through the data transfer in less than an hour. When I returned later to request they complete the old iPad repair, they tried to charge me an additional $100. When I pushed back they said they would only charge me for parts of $50 because he wasn't sure if that was included in the original cost. After I refused and left, they offered to fix it for free in a voicemail, but their unprofessionalism lost my trust. I didn't get anything out of my $125, but maybe I can save someone else from the same trouble. read more

Asked if they could repair my iPhone screen they said yes and charge me $150 but failed to explain that they would replace my screen with a cheap faulty aftermarket part. after they fixed my phone and handed it to me they explained that my selfie camera won't work because of the part they replaced and told me it would be an extra $50 for the part they broke. I told them no and went on my day. shortly after I had tons of problems; over heating, low frames, shortened battery life, touch screen glitches, and my phone would sometimes just go black. So I ended up calling them and telling them what was happening and they told this was "normal." Went in to get my screen on my iPhone replaced. I got my phone back and it can no longer hold a charge, it's overheating, and the screen doesn't even work(problems I didn't have before). My phone is glitching and is almost completely unusable. I called back to see if they could take another look at my phone and they were rude and unaccommodating, and said that I'd have to pay more money for another screen. I dropped my phone in the washing machine and read online to immediately turn it off ( it still worked) put it in drying crystals and take it to a professional to have it opened and dried. So I did exactly that. I Took it here - was told hour and half to 2 hours to open it and dry it -- they would call my friends # when done. End of day and they closed and no call. Next day I had my BF call them as soon as they opened . They said they opened it and it's all dry and works great and I paid $49.00. I Get it home and SIM card doesn't work-- take it out and there's water on it. I call them and they say to bring it back. At this point it's been 24 hours and I have to head to work in Bay Area and can't spend hours or days waisted on this again. In Oakland I call a place, bring my phone in, they open it up while I wait to see if it's dry-- they said it appeared to have never been opened. They give it back after wiping it down and say it needs a new charging port and SIM cart tray and come back tomorrow ( I got there 15 minutes before closing) and no charge until they replace the charging port! No charge for what Smart repair did for $49 (opening and drying phone). Next day they put new charging port and new SIM card port in it for total of $90.00. All done in half an hour while I waited. This is the kind of service I trust and will be back for-- not the Smart phone repair who waisted my time and left me without cell service for a few days! read more

Have a laptop computer that was not working. No charging and would not stay on longer than 30 seconds. Took it to Smart Repair, who immediately diagnosed a bad battery without any tests. I paid about $200 to order the part. Maybe 10 days later they told me the part was in and to pick it up. When I got it home, the exact same problem appeared. Took it back and asked it they had tested the new part, and the tech just said to leave it again. Nearly two weeks later, I had to call them as there was no communication from them. The techs suddenly found that it was the motherboard shorting out, but "We don't fix those." There was never any mention of refunding the payment for the battery (all they said about that was "It may have been the battery, too"). Frankly, not even an apology for my wasted time. Lots of folks here have nice things to say, but what I would say about this place probably wouldn't be printable. read more

Friendly people but a little disappointed with how my repair turned out. Replacement screen for my Apple Watch took two weeks after originally being told just a couple days. Unfortunately the replacement screen is noticeably not flush with the rest of the watch body on one side. Not sure how this will affect the water resistance. But, at least it works again. read more

My iPhone 6 screen was lifting on one edge and had a shadow down the middle of the screen. They said it was probably the battery swelling and pushing the screen up. Quoted me a price for battery and screen replacement. I dropped off my phone while I did some other stuff for a couple of hours (but they said it would be ready in 45 minutes). Turned out the screen was fine and it only needed a new battery. Great to have my phone back. Works fine for very reasonable cost. I could have upgraded to a newer phone, but I like this one due to the headphone jack, which the iPhones 7, 8, and X don't have. Super to have these guys in town! Life. Saving. Service. ...No, I mean *literally*. I'm an OTR trucker, and have just returned home from the one of the biggest "adventures" of my life...truly, I nearly lost my life (both figuratively AND literally), in the course of a week. This run was the highway equivalent of Gilligan's Island: I departed Los Angeles on a simple 2-day delivery up to Oregon and back...and then the fecal matter hit the air-circulation device, and I barely made it home, a full week later. Imagine you're far from home, driving on an unfamiliar highway...and your phone suddenly dies. I don't mean the battery loses power, I mean your entire [$850 piece-of-doodoo iPhone 7+ (which has given me problems since the very-first day I had the displeasure of owning it)] phone gives up the electronic ghost, with no warning whatsoever; one moment displaying GPS navigation, and the next, a black screen, a non-functional Home button...and a rapidly-heating case. (@.@) FRIENDLY ADVICE: "don't keep all your eggs in one basket". In other words, "do NOT keep all your vital information in your phone"; unless of course, you have other devices from which to access said vital info. I'd asked myself the question many times before this: "What happens if your piece of junk ("jPhone") dies??" And frankly, the answer is tragic: your life suddenly spirals downward, as it circles the existential drain in ever tighter and faster circles. Sure, that perhaps sounds a bit dramatic to you, but then again, you're most likely not a truck driver. See, in addition to relying on my jPhone for communication (not just talking, texting and emails, but also the storage of contact numbers, which few people store in their brains), my phone is also my Navigation as I span the nation; my camera to document the amazing things I get to see along the way; my music source when I'm in areas with no radio coverage; and most importantly, it tracks my Federally-regulated Hours of Service driving log...without which, I'm forbidden to drive! So yeah, I suddenly found myself wayyy up Doodoo Creek, waylaid and worried, stranded in Redding, California (okay...why does everyone make that face, whenever "Redding" is mentioned?). It sucked. It was cold. I couldn't drive anywhere (nor could I call for a ride). Not only was I unable to make my Delivery appointment in Oregon, my company had no idea where I was. I didn't have anyone's telephone number written down anywhere, so even if I could've FOUND a payphone (it's a real thing, Millennials -- consult Google), I wouldn't have been able to call anyone. And without knowing the area, I didn't know where the nearest Apple Store was located [Sacramento or Portland, it turns out]. I had been served-up a heaping bowl of CRAPSAUCE. And as hopeless as my situation appeared, like it's written in the Biblical book of Revelation, this was merely "the beginning of woes"...but that's another story. The only option I could conceive of, was to buy ANOTHER jPhone 7, and hope that a quick SIM swap would have me back in business. So, I spent the afternoon walking back-n-forth between Best Buy (twice), the AT&T store (thrice), WalMart (surprisingly-few WalMartians there that day), and Target [and a very-special Thanks to the quite-beautiful blonde employee who graciously allowed me to use the cordless phone at the Customer Service Counter...then disappeared into the sunset, before I could properly thank her], in an attempt to find a replacement phone. "G E T O N W I T H I T ! !" Right...sorry. You're not reading this for the experience I had at any of those places; you're wondering about my experience at In & Out Speed Repair. So yes, amidst the frustration and despair my unfortunate situation was causing me, I did find myself in the In & Out Repair center, being assisted by a straightforward and considerate guy named Tucker. He assessed my phone, and although he had various used phones available to sell, none was going to be an acceptable replacement for my jPhone. I do appreciate his honesty (it's a real thing, Millennials -- consult Google). However, short of selling me a refurb phone, he did assist me in retrieving some vital contact information, which enabled me to make contact with my company to advise them of the situation. Honestly, the 20 minutes I spent with Tucker were more productive than the 20 hours I spent stranded in Redding. In the middle of a crisis, he was a shining beacon of helpfulness. Yup, sounds cheesy, and it ain't eloquent, but there it is. So the moral of my story is: Tucker is my hero. #nuffsaid read more

I walked in and spoke with the owner and he was so friendly and very helpful. He made it sound like my problem was really no problem at all and he would be happy to help. His employee order my part, told me it would arrive on a Thursday and it arrived on a Monday. They stayed after hours to get my computer fixed.
