My 9 year old daughter took a beginning tumbling class here. We trialed a couple of places, and she loved Technique the most! She said she was challenged the most on her first day. The facility is clearly very clean, the equipment is in great condition, and the place runs like a well-oiled machine. They have clear guidelines for dress and safety. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and great with kids - my daughter loved her teacher and even enjoyed the sub she had. She's a shy kiddo, so to hear this kind of feedback about coaches, is really wonderful! She learned a lot in her few months here - far more than she did in a whole year of gymnastics at another local place. We have to pause for now due to scheduling conflicts, but will be back for sure! As a parent, I sincerely appreciated the responsive and super kind front office staff! They were wonderfully helpful with a billing issue I had! I would highly recommend Technique! read more

It's a gym that cares about kids first and foremost! It's a great place to develop new skills and enjoy new experiences in a large energetic environment. If you have more than one child, it's very convenient. You could have children taking kinder classes, ninja classes, gymnastics classes, or trampoline classes at the same time. I love this gym my daughter is on preteam right now we cannot go inside with them but the coach's communicate a lot with us and they are so motherly in totally fine with it. They have a fine balance between allowing the kids to act their age and strictness. My daughter loves going and the progress she makes every week is just amazing to me. In a sport where you're supposed to be perfect it's sometimes hard and coach Tara is so awesome in reminding these tiny gymnast to have fun and to relieve the stress. read more

This review is strictly related to my experience in the Toddler Explorer class and not the actual gymnastics activities. My girlfriend introduced me and my 2 year old son to Techniques Kids' Sports and Activity Center last week. She also has a two year old and like many moms (and dads) out there, is always looking for a cool, fun, and distracting experience for their children. As a part-time worker and a full-time mom, weekdays can be a bit tricky with a 2 year old because staying home can make them stir-crazy and going outside too late in the morning can get HOT quickly. Techniques Kids Sports and Activity Center has an "Explorer" class for toddlers on Wednesdays starting at 9:30 AM and it lasts for about 45 minutes. There are fun little mini roller coasters, a trampoline, lots of mini obstacle courses and basically a fun and safe place for them to play with other kids their size. Parents are welcome to join as well (everyone just needs to take off their shoes before entering the play area). At the end of class, the instructors usually sing a good-bye song and pass out stickers or stamp the kids' hands with a cool design. I would say when I went the other week, there was about 7-8 toddlers so it wasn't extremely crowded, you just have to closely monitor your child in case they get into spats with the other little ones. I believe there is a monthly membership rate or you can purchase a class card. Your first class trial is free! I will definitely come back! read more

Wow.... the attitude of the woman working the front desk was rude, unenthusiastic and down right unpleasant. My 7 year old even got the impression that the woman was grumpy and mean. I would suggest a) don't take yourself so seriously, it's a kids gymnastics gym... and b) if the owners are looking to maintain or increase profits, hire a personable employee for the front desk. I'm disgusted, the vibe here was stiff... and the rude employee just concreted the our decision never to go here. read more

My 4 year old absolutely loves the kinder gym. She's a very physical, sensory seeking kid and this is perfect for her.

I have had an AMAZING experience with their women's competitive gymnastics. The coaches are fun and supportive, but they are not afraid to tell you exactly how to do a skill and they are very clear about every detail that needs to be fixed, knowing that not all of them can be fixed, just to let you know so you have a better understanding of what you are doing wrong. Definitely recommend this to anyone who is both serious about it, or just looking for a recreational program. read more

I cannot even begin to know how to write this review. I am literally shaking and crying at this exact moment. I have never been so upset in my life. My daughter has been taking gymnastics here for about a month. Today, I brought my son with me specifically to ask if they offered classes for special needs children. My son does not technically have special needs, however, he has Tourette's syndrome and has a hard time being in "regular" classes. We were told by a young man at the front desk that they don't technically offer special needs classes but they are "very accommodating" to people with special needs. About two minutes later, a woman who works there, PJ, came to where we were sitting, pointed at my son and said "we have other businesses near by. We cannot have that in here whatever that is". She told him he had to leave. He's a child. An adult pointed at a child and called his condition "whatever that is". I walked my son to the car. Then went back in and spoke to PJ. She looked at me like there was something wrong with me and said "what are you here for"? I told her my daughter takes gymnastics but will no longer. She did not care. I looked at her and asked for an apology. Nothing. I don't even know how they can employ such an awful person. I complained and asked for a refund for the month. Which they gave me. But PJ should be fired. She's an awful person. read more

Your experience at this place will depend purely on the athletic level of your child. My daughter is a natural athlete, slim frame, runs like a dream, took to gymnastics like she'd been doing it all her young life...she loves it here and the teachers are great with her. My son is the complete opposite: he lives in his head, he's clumsy, pedantic, slow, but tries really hard and has given his all to the parkour class I signed him up for three months ago. He attends every class with a good attitude, engages with the other kids, but is definitely one of the weakest students in his class. His teacher was okay at first, kept an eye on him, worked with him often, but over time, we have noticed that he has given up on my son and only interacts with him briefly, here and there. His main focus is on the kids who are natural atheletes, kids who can shimmy up poles and across rails like little monkeys...kids who really don't need his help. So given that, I took my son out of a class he loves, because it is a waste of my money and my son's time. I am going to find another activity or gym where he will be attended to, one where they work with him instead of giving up on him. My son was saddened by this, but I couched it by saying we would find a place that would help him get stronger and better physically, and if he wanted to go back to parkour, we would definitely sign him up again. He's ten. He will be fine, but this mom was a little heartbroken. read more

As a parent I am very impressed with Techniques and the classes they offer for kids. My youngest daughter comes here every week for her Gymnastics class and absolutely loves it. The instructors do a great job of ensuring every child is acknowledged and given constructive feedback during each session. They also incorporate the parents on things to do with the child at home such as stretching and other various muscle building routines. The price is a bit expensive depending on how often you come during the week but overall totally worth it. Throughout the year they also do fun events for the holidays and Gymnastic Meets where your child can compete and earn a medal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality Gymnastic or dance instruction. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THE TEAMS! My granddaughter suffered severe mental and emotional abuse from the old male coach. My daughter will not report it due to fear of retaliation. So Many girls end up quitting solely due to the fact that the male coach is so extremely verbally and mentally abusive and a bully. It' was not unusual to come in to pick her up and girls would be in tears. My granddaughter told me the head coach defends and protects him anytime a parent complains and then he ignores them or it gets worse so they stop telling their parents. The recreation and little kids look like they are having fun but otherwise .... PLEASE STAY AWAY! read more

Such a love/hate relationship with this place. My daughter has been coming here for three years, purely for lack of places to go. Some of the instructors are really good; and some are clearly here to socialize and collect a pay check. We try to come specifically on classes where there is a certain instructor we like that actually works with the kids, but they change the instructors up and don't even tell you. My daughter seems to be bored most of the time ( the same EXACT exercises every single week), they never change up the routines. I've had numerous conversations with other parents and I dont know if it's politics or what but the opportunity for kids to advance to the next level seems to be impossible. My daughter has a natural talent for gymnastics; we've turned our entire home into a gymnastics center, but when she has coaches that don't care, don't push, etc.... All three of my kids have gone here, like I said, due to lack of options. I just wish there was more out there. read more

My dad went there to check the place out with my daughter a while back and was told to leave, that he couldn't be there, no reason....no explanation, i can only assume based on the way he looks. He's not a gymnast but what average person is? When I found this out I was livid!!! I will never step foot in this place ever again or recommend it to anyone I know. My dad is a good person and should never have been treated that way or made to feel unwelcome in a PUBLIC PLACE. Our experience with Technique has been fantastic.My daughter just switched to a tumbling class with Miss Jeanette and is loving it. She wishes she could have class everyday.My son can't wait for baseball to be over so he can join the boys gym classes.Teachers are experienced and keep the safe. We have been working with this gym for about 8 months. It is our sons first time at a gymnastics gym so we dont have a frame of reference for other gyms but we are pleased with how well our son is doing so far. We just joined an all boys class and he is really thriving. The instructors are all very good with the kids. I am always impressed with their inventiveness and most of all, their patience. Its pretty impressive to work with multiple children under the age of 5 and keep your cool PLUS teach them great skills. read more

Technique used to offer drop-ins for kids with disabilities to play and explore the motor area. No longer. Showed up with my 8yo so he could get in some good gross motor play (with my assistance and supervision) and we turned away by the lady at the front desk. She said they no longer offer anything for kids with disabilities, they only have a parent participation class for kids crawling through 2yo. So if you are looking for options for child with disabilities, go somewhere else. Oh, and by the way, an older sibling (around 5yo) was allowed to participate with her younger sister. But my son was turned away (he isn't much bigger than 5yo). I wasn't initially upset at being turned away until that happened. read more

We went to a preschool field trip at Technique. While the activities for the kids at the field trip were age-appropriate, and the lead coach for their program seemed bubbly and energetic, how the staff handled siblings and parents was rather disappointing, and would make me think twice about coming back to try classes at this facility. It turned out when we arrived that the "toddler area" to keep waiting siblings busy was nothing more than a grungy broken train table and even grungier duplo table. I think the last time we went to a fast food playground it was cleaner than these ;-). I hope someone takes those duplos home and runs them through a dishwasher! Or at least a few good spritzes of a no wiping required sanitizer like Clorox anywhere hard surface cleaner. Certainly didn't hold any child's attention for the one hour duration of the class. I would have gladly paid for my younger child to do something fun while we waited. This facility is a bit "in the middle of nowhere", a commercial-industrial area lacking nearby grocery stores, parks, libraries, or open space that might be better equipped to entertain a toddler while waiting for class to end. So, stuck in the lobby/observation area, naturally, several toddlers were getting bored and tried to wander into the area where the classes were, which was quite an easy feat since they had direct line sight of the "fun" equipment and there were no gates or doors between the toddler area and competitive gym equipment. There was a half-wall, but with un-gated openings. And not only that, instead of expressing a concern for the children's safety the staff started screaming something about waivers and you can't be in there. And the one place in the gym that did have a gate, the gate was broken and could not even be latched shut. Way to make the job difficult for the parents and then blame them for being unable to properly restrain their kids. I hope the staff works on improving the experience for parents of multiple kids because this could have been a five star experience had they provided a for-fee parent-tot class at the same time, or had put up appropriate gates and been more polite. read more

GREAT FOR REC AND VERY GOOD FOR OPTIONALS. COMPULSORY PROGRAM IS STRUGGLING. We have have been to four gyms starting at rec and now competing. Technique is the best OVERALL facility (hence the 4 stars) but it is not without its problems. THE GOOD: This is one of the largest and cleanest gyms in Northern California. It is a well known and preferred host gym for competitive meets. Visiting gyms often comment about how much they like competing at Technique. I mentioned it is clean. Yes, it still has a gym smell but not nearly as bad as others. There is almost enough seating even for the enormous number of parents at each session. Parking is also plentiful even during meets which get EXTREMELY crowded. Rec program is staffed by mostly enthusiastic coaches. Jeanette is one of the best if you can get her. Level 6+ Optionals are well-coached and successful in meets. THE BAD: Scheduling conflicts occur more than they should and notice of changes is note always timely. This is true of ALL gyms we've experienced and Technique is a little better than average in this area. The compulsory program is in complete disarray. The lack of qualified coaches and over recruitment of gymnasts is primarily to blame. There are just too many many gymnasts to coach effectively and the result is lots of idle time spent staring at the floor. It seems common for gyms to place an emphasis on their Optional program but Technique does so at the expense of its Compulsory program. Its as if they've forgotten where their Optional gymnasts are coming from. I suspect that this will have a long-term effect on the abilities of their younger gymnasts for some time. In summary, this is the best gym we've seen overall. We just felt like the compulsory program was getting nowhere fast. Once they get that worked out, there is no reason technique couldn't be a 5 star facility. read more

This is the absolute best place for kids gymnastics EVER!! My youngest daughter who is at the Kinder side of the gym has always had a SUPER hard time adjusting to new classes and new people. So when we started at Technique it was awesome to see so many different coaches ALWAYS work to make her feel so welcome even when she wouldn't step into class! They are just the sweetest coaches, always greeting all the kids so friendly and making time to fill parents in on our kids' progress. My daughter just loves gymnastics and Technique. We've been taking a break to do Soccer but now they can't wait to go back! I must add that my daughters have been involved in gymnastics since they were very young so we've had our share of getting to know different gyms and coaches in the area...yet despite having two to three gyms closer to our house we still make the half hour drive to Technique! The main reason I started taking them was that they have SO many class options for kids who are at different levels/abilities and since I have two daughters and didn't want to make extra driving trips I was able to find individual classes for them that were close in timing. Also, since I was an evening grad student when we started going (and on the quarter system), my evening schedule was CRAZY and I had to switch class times A LOT. I felt horrible but they were ALWAYS so friendly and willing to make changes to class schedules whenever I needed to. Just amazing how they keep track of so many students and so many classes!! I always felt really confident with their management. Class attendance, make up's, and payments are so well put together (and if you have been to other gyms that is usually a MAJOR chore)! My son is on the Boys Team and he absolutely hates it. The coaches are rude to not only him but also me and do not coach very well.

I don't know who hired HEATHER the front desk receptionist but she has a nasty attitude. I changed my daughter class to Fridays and when I show up the teacher said she was not enrolled for friday. I go to the front desk to ask heather and she informed me that the Friday class she was in last Friday was a makeup class. When I called 2 weeks ago I made it very clear that I would have to change her Thursday class to Friday due to work. Heather just kept interupting me and talking over me with an attitude. I understand people make mistakes and I understood that but to keep talking loud with an attitude and not even listening to anything I'm asking or trying to say is just so dam rude. I guess this is what they call "professional "? I could barley get a word in because she kept getting loud and wouldn't stop talking. I had to tell her to calm down and drop it. Whatever she is going through she should not take her anger out on anyone. She shouldn't even be working there with a nasty attitude! There are kids all around here. I signed my daughter up for the toddler structured class for 1-2 year olds on Monday nights at 6:30pm. let me just say my experience was not pleasant. If you have a toddler around the one and a half age i highly suggest not to sign up for this class. Im not sure if the class is different at night time vs the morning but it was not a good experience. First off the teachers running the class did not greet me or my child, I think that with kids this young its really important for them to have a relationship with the teacher otherwise they are not comfortable and will not be engaged in the class. Second, the other kids in the class knew exactly what they were doing and almost seemed to be alot older maybe around the ages of 3 or 4. They were all super engaged and attentive to the teachers like they had been going to the class for months now. The class started with no announcement so when i walked up to the circle the kids and parents were all sitting in i tried to participate with my daughter and she wanted nothing to do with it. the teachers didn't try to help us or make sure my daughter was comfortable they just went on like i wasn't there and my daughter wasn't running away just wanting to play. I ended up leaving after about 5 minutes of this. It would have been nice if one of the two teachers had came up to me and maybe suggested the free play class where my daughter could just run around and get comfortable with it before moving to the structured class. It was a totally weird experience and i would never go back. Maybe the morning classes are different but this experience alone has made my mind up about the class and i will not be attending again. Just wanted to share my experience so other parents dont have to go through this. read more

I went to Technique for 9 years (all the way from Dynamites to Level 9/10) and loved it. I still have close relationships with my coaches and the team, even though I quit gymnastics a few years ago. Technique did a great job teaching me gymnastics, of course, but also life lessons I'll be able to use my whole life. I still go back and visit because I miss the gym environment so much. If you want your son or daughter to actually be competitive in gymnastics, this is the place. The coaches are supportive and truly care about all of their gymnasts. Lisa (the head coach) always picks really fun places to travel for our meets, so I got to travel to Hawaii, Chicago, Las Vegas, Seattle, Los Angeles, and many more. I absolutely loved gymnastics because of Technique and I highly recommend it for high level gymnastics!! read more
