I have been banking with Upward for 25 years. Their customer service people are very helpful.

A special shout out to the amazing Susan Schulba. I just joined and she exceeded my expectations with my vehicle refinance. I applied, and less than 24 hours later my new membership was established and my auto loan funded. I work for a different Credit Union and know how important service is. Based on her service, I will be transferring my main checking account over and making Upward my main financial institution. I would also like to recognize Nancy Romo, who assisted with my new membership opening. I don't think someone could be any nicer and friendly. She gave me helpful tips, let me know what to expect in the near future, and offered to assist my family if they need banking assistance. How thoughtful and considerate. My parents have gone here for years. So beyond disappointed with their lax service, disorganization, and lack of attention to detail. Nicolette doesn't know what she is doing and make sure you get the line transferred elsewhere if assisting you. Would never use them again and will be transferring all accounts elsewhere. read more

The staff are helpful if you need to do one-to-one in person banking and the loan department staff is wonderful. I give only 2 stars because the UHCU website is a complete nightmare to try to use the external transfer feature from a cell phone. To be able to transfer money from UHCU to an outside bank using your cell phone takes approximately 10-20 attempts at resetting the pop-up settings/etc., and sometimes will not work at all. It is completely inconvenient and unnecessary in this day and age of electronics. read more

I have always been pleased with the service I receive at your branch. However, Ms. Schulba's professionalism and ability to get to the bottom of the situation quickly exceeded my expectations. Here we are in 2020. Still love this credit union. Funny enough I am meeting more and more people who are members and love this place. Every single person I have dealth with has been super helpful and they all know who I am- crazy...nowhere else have I banked and they knew my name. Not that I needed that but they are there to help you and you are not just some account number like you would be at bigger institutions. There are so many credit union in the Bay Area to choose from, but you are one of the company that is very picky to your customers when it comes in getting a payday loan. I just have no choice cuz your bank is attach with my employer. I've done this several times and just recently you told me that I can't qualify because i was late for 1 time and this is during my disability. Then your customer service told me that I can't qualify ever again because of that one time late. Wow! Thanks for your help united heath credit union. You suck! That's great that you cannot help the people that is need of your help to use the payday loan. read more

If I could give 4.5 stars i would because the only gripe i have with this CU are their hours. I wish they were open past 5pm or on weekends. Other than that, though, Ive had a great experience in the last 15+ years with upward, aka United health, CU. read more

I haven't received any statements or correspondence via USPS or email about my account. They started deducting a monthly fee out of nowhere and drained my account to $0. Then easily contacted me to ask if I wanted to deposit more money to keep the account active. OK, YEAH! Take my money! I closed my $0 account. THANKS. read more

Everyone is always so nice and helpful, whether you stop in or give them a call. They're always willing to offer the best advice and aren't in a rush to get you off the phone. No scripted phone calls here! I don't always get to stop in there since I live in San Jose now, but when I call I always get "oh I know your mom" lol. She's been banking with them for YEARS. Everyone at this location in Burlingame is great. I have been a member for awhile now and they make the art of handling our finances so pleasant and easy. Most recently I worked with Catalina Hess and she made all the difference in what I needed to accomplish. I cannot thank her enough. She is professional and does it with a warm and pleasant manner. :-). They all do! CED: One of the best banks, and they are always helpful. If something comes up they always help out and if something is unusual they call. The apr is low and they have a student credit card that I been having for 2-3 years now. They know me and my fam and they're always chill when I come in to deposit checks or get cash. read more

There is no other place I would ever bank. I have worked with UHCU for about 14 years and they are the perfect credit union. I have financed two cars with them, received financial counseling and pay all my bills with their services. Recently, someone got my debit card and ran some fraudulent charges through. I received a phone call from them at home, and when I called in and introduced myself, they immediately said "we have been trying to reach you". I've been with UHCU for most of my life. They just helped me finance my 5th car through them. I love, love, love, this credit union. Everyone there is very helpful, and very kind, to the point where they all know who I am when I call, and always ask how the kids are. I can't say enough good things about UHCU. I've banked with them for over 20 years, and have kept with them through multiple moves. I have bank accounts, a CD, a credit card, a car loan and a home equity loan with them. They are helpful, responsive, communicate by email and know who you are when you call! The overwhelming majority of credit unions are NON-PROFIT--that's right, they are here to help you build wealth, empower you financially and not rip you off with ridiculous fees and invisible services. When I walk into my small, yet federally insured credit union they greet me by wait...this may be too much to take in, , by NAME! Yes, I am a name, a real person in my credit union--not a number! Banks hate credit unions because they increase competition in the market and have better rates because they charge so much less. The truth is, most CU's can offer you better loan rates, better services and the same perks. I bank online, have access to ATM's through the COOP network and know the name of the person I would apply for a loan with. IT's AMAZING. I remember a few years ago when my husband approached me about leaving our "Brand Name" bank and moving to a credit union. I can assure you there was an extreme hesitation on my end and it took months of convincing. However, we have been members of United Health Credit Union now for over five years and I cannot express to them the gratitude I have felt each and every time I reach out to them. Most recently, I needed to handle a sensitive issue and was placed in contact with Fatima. First, the response time from my initial contact was within an hour (that is personal service!). Second, when the issue was addressed, it was handled it the most respectful manner that anyone could ask for. I told Fatima thank you, I was treated as a "member" and not just an account number. I got my first car loan from UHCU at least 20 years ago. Their personal attention, professionalism and responsiveness are what banking should be about. With the massive consolidation in the industry, even formerly local institutions like Wells Fargo have turned customers into commodities to be exploited. Not so with UHCU! If you're looking for a credit union without fees for deposit, checking your balance, speaking with Customer Service (now standard practice at the mega-banks), you can't do better than United Health Credit Union. Also, you can scan checks directly from your cell without ever stopping by a branch or ATM. Today I deposited a check and received an email confirmation from their admin in 10 minutes! The money was already available in my account. (This kind of immediate response is only possible during business hours, but I challenge anyone to come close with another institution.) In over two decades of banking with UCHU, I haven't had a single complaint. Can anyone say the same of BofA, Chase, Wells, etc? UHCU get six stars from this client! read more

I absolutely love this credit union! I've been banking here for over 10 years and I will never go anywhere else. Fatima is amazing, always willing to do the best she can for you, as well as Cathy, and Marissa. They genuinely care about their customers, always ask me how I'm doing, and go out of their way to help. I am in a power chair, and whenever I visit, there is always someone to get the door for me and accommodate me in anyway they can. I have financed two vehicles, taken out to personal loans, had a credit card in the past and have never had a problem, plus they have very low interest rates. I love all the different programs they have, for example, the Christmas club, and their accounts for teens. It's just an overall wonderful place to bank! The only reason why did not give it a full five stars is because the door to get into the office is not accessible. They really need to put a disabled pushbutton so people with disabilities can open the door a lot easier. read more
