Although TechRestore has an okay process for intake and are reasonably friendly on the phone, they have suspicious pricing for their services. I mailed off an IPOD touch. They claim to offer a "Overnight iPod Touch Free Diagnosis Service". (Of course, as a resonable person, I assume that any part and labor would cost extra.) I got a call back from their staff who said "Oh, you just had a bit of lint in headphone jack, but we took it out. So we are going to charge you JUST the Standard Repair Service, which is $49.00" In addition to my quibbles about $49.00 being an exorbitant fee for using their air compressor for 5 seconds, I feel a little rage build up inside me that they are not more upfront with the cost of what in my view is still diagnosis. I'd be willing to pay for the service that they provide, but I suspect it violates a few federal trade regulations. read more

I had a MacBook Pro with Retina with a cracked LCD and these folks repaired it in a day! I paid for the shipping label and dropped it off at UPS on Tuesday evening. They did the repair on Wednesday and shipped it out that night. I called and changed the return shipping to have the laptop held at the UPS service center so I was able to pick it up at 9:00am. The price was very reasonable and the turn around was exceptional. And they were very customer service oriented. These folks helped ease the pain of damaging a brand new laptop with their great service. read more

In September of 2009 I had the unfortunate mishap of watching my $3500 MacBook Pro tumble to the floor off of a lap rest. As it landed, it hit in such a way that my screen cracked corner to corner. I will admit, it was a freakish accident ... but I needed it fixed and fast! I went on to Twitter to ask my friends for recommendations regarding reliable and trustworthy (and FAST) Mac laptop screen repairs. I received references to a company called TechRestore which I had never heard of. I quickly posted on Facebook and found that a friend had also used TechRestore. This was enough information I needed to instill trust and get the process going for my laptop repair. Once I found TechRestore and opted for the premium process involving Overnight shipment and return, I had a box at my door over night. I packed up my baby and sent it off to them for speedy repair and return. Along the way, I was able to track everything on the TechRestore website. The ability to track and watch the process for me was vital. My MacBook traveled from NY to CA and I was amazed how quickly things moved along. Before I knew it, my baby "Molly" was on my way back to me and I was ready to receive her. But the story isn't over yet .. When "Molly" arrived back to me, she had an unfortunate dent in the cover that was not there when I sent it, not recorded when received. I could have lived with the dent (it wasn't huge) but it was bothering me enough that I called TechRestore and spoke to a lovely representative named "Gail" who got the process underway and had a new label emailed out to me. It was a freak shipping accident and TechRestore was going to take care of everything on their side without me having to file a shipping claim, etc. Of course I had to send Molly back and the entire process from initial damage to the second shipment made back to me in PERFECT SHAPE took 7 days (09/3/09 - 09/10/09). "Molly: was back at my finger tips for the SECOND time good as new in 7 days. I am so happy with the service that I recommend it highly and have recommended it to a family member recently who is dealing with a Mac screen issue. It's difficult to find companies in the world of technology that stand by their word so strongly. They could have refused to take my MacBook Pro back a second time but they didn't. They were completely apologetic for the problem and got things moving QUICKLY. When I say quickly I mean quickly. The turn-a-round coast-to-coast is amazing. The customer service here was simply fantastic. I really gotta hand it to Paul- he went above and beyond to help me out. I'd broken my iPhone 6s screen; fine. It's $149 to repair it (cheaper than anything within twenty miles), and I accepted that. Came by and somebody fixed my screen in just half an hour- blindingly fast compared to the expected wait time of an hour, or Apple's '3-5 business days'. So, I left, and went straight to Best Buy to get a screen protector for my nice new screen. I got the protector put on... And then, without warning, half my screen went black. Uh oh. I head right back to Tech Restore, and that's where Paul stepped in. He apologized for the defect, gave me a discount on the service, to make up for the protector, and then searched through the back for another screen... And came up empty. The next shipment was Thursday. I was mad, but hey. I understand, things happen. So I left... And then on my way home, got a call from Paul. 'If I wasn't too far away, someone had just canceled their order, and he could use their black iPhone screen to fix mine'... So, I turned around. He fixed my screen and even managed to transfer the protector! All in all, fantastic job. He turned a frustrating experience into a loyal customer. When Simply Mac burned down, my MacBook Pro went 'down' too. I didn't know what to do, because I couldn't begin to withstand the confusion and noise at the Apple Store. I went to Tech Restore -- and I couldn't believe what I saw. Almost all of the guys at Simply Mac were THERE and it was like an old-homecoming. They did a marvelous job on my MacBook Pro, because I had installed Catalina which caused my MacBook Pro to crash and I lost a lot of my 'stuff.' My MacBook lost the ability to remember wifi networks. I didn't want to make an appointment at the Mac store and go for a brief appointment in a crowded store. In fact, other repair stores recommended TechRestore to me. Marc worked on my computers. He explained everything and offered repair options. I do not speak computer, so he explained everything in plain English, which I appreciated. I felt the price was reasonable. I would imagine it would be more expensive at the Mac store, because almost everything is more expensive at the Mac store. TechRestore also offers a guarantee. When my laptop continued to fail to remember wifi networks, I just took it back to the store and they were able to fix the problem once and for all. It turns out the problem was more complicated than expected. I like that I could just take it back and that my laptop didn't have to be mailed off for repair. After some research, I found the Mac Store was going to charge me 800-900 dollars... so I went looking for some alternatives. Thank God I found TechRestore. Brought my iPad in on Friday at 11 AM and my screen (which was cracked and needed to be replaced) was replaced and back to new, ready for pick up by 3 PM, earlier than the expected time of 4:30 PM. Tech Restore really stands by their work! I had an issue (posted below) and they were quick to get in touch with me, learn more about the situation, and offer a resolution. After a lot of consumer pushback, Apple seems to be realizing that they need to allow us to use outside vendors. Not everyone is near an apple store (or wants to wait a week for an appointment!) Though I'm not sure whether my particular iphone 5s problem was the same as the most recent home button error (http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2016/02/18/apple-admits-mistake-for-error-53-iphone-bricking-offers-fix/), it seems that there should be fewer compatibility issues in the future! All in all, I would definitely recommend Tech Restore and will use them again in the future! earlier review.... I got my 5s screen repaired and everything seemed to be okay. The people were friendly and helpful and they got it done the same day. HOWEVER.... After updating my phone to the latest OS (9.2) the home button stopped working correctly. I brought it into the apple store and they said that when you update the device automatically verifies parts and there are sometimes conflicts with third party parts. My phone became basically unusable (as the home button is pretty important), and I ended up buying another screen from apple which fixed the issue. read more

My MacBook appeared to be dead. Not the way I wanted to start the evening. Checked out this business on yelp the next morning. Spoke with them and they were very helpful. My girlfriend's sister's toddler executed some sort of catastrophic coffee table dump onto the top of our MacBook Pro. I think he must have knocked the laptop off first and then somehow knocked the heavy metal and tile coffee table on top of it, denting the lid and killing the LCD. I found Techrestore online and it seemed reasonable and have good reviews. The prices were low which made me a bit weary, but I sent the money via PayPal and hoped for the best. When I got the laptop back the first time, the LCD had a millimeter or two wide blemish either on the panel itself or on the glass. it was pretty close to center, otherwise I could have lived with it, but I decided to email them to see if I could send it back in again. They emailed me back almost immediately with a prepaid UPS label and I sent it in again. It came back the second time in a few days (not even a week) and it looks great. It's obvious that there was some work done on the black plastic by the hinge, but you can only tell if you run your finger across it and they did their best to buff out the dent on the top of the laptop (which is way better than how it was but still noticeable). I can take a small blemish or two to have a fix that cost less than half what Apple quoted me. Overall, I'd recommend the service. read more
