Ted and Wallys is the best ice cream in Omaha, hands down, no arguments. The quality and strength of the flavors is far superior to everything else, and their creativity is unparallelled. I've tried black seasame, apple pie, key lime pie, cheese and crackers, pb&j, just to list a few. They're always good, and its always a good portion of ice cream for what you're paying. Its so good! Beware, the lines get long but the wait is 100% always worth it. Anyone who has a bad review of this place is probably very sad and thinks vanilla is the best ice cream flavor. Based on the yelp reviews and the long line out the door, I thought that this place had the most unbeatable and unique ice cream. But, I was sadly disappointed. While they did have one unique cheese flavor, every other flavor on the menu was quite standard. When I go to ice cream places, I like to try flavors that I cannot pick up at the grocery store. Ted and Wally's has some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. They have a great selection of classic flavors and interesting flavors which they rotate on a daily basis (I always love all of their rose flavors and peanut butter and jelly). You can always check their facebook or instagram to see daily flavors in each location. They source a lot of their ingredients from local farms which is an added bonus! Also, they always have anywhere from 2-5 'special diet' flavors in each of their locations (vegan, keto, low sugar, etc.) They use coconut milk in their vegan flavors, and even before I was vegan, I preferred their vegan ice cream to their regular ice cream. The texture and temperature is always perfect and the staff is always happy to give you a sample of any flavor. Also, if you have a favorite flavor that you haven't seen available for awhile, you can special order it in larger sizes! I've done this once before, and while it was expensive, it was so worth it! They have a few tables and a few booths inside with extremely limited parking, and on nice evenings, it is not rare for there to be a line out the door for ice cream. This place looks pretty unassuming from the outside and inside is huge. There are several booths where you can sit with a group or tables to sit and chat. The workers were really patient, offering their advice and allowing you to sample several flavors. I decided on a flavour containing coconut shreds, chocolate and vanilla icecream. It was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it.. "Johnny something " I just chose the weirdest name I saw. It tasted like a coconut ice cream with coconut shreds and chocolate. If you don't like coconut shreds this probably isn't a good choice for you. But there are also chunks of chocolate mixed in. Overall a really good icecream that hits the spot. The ice cream itself was creamy and not too sweet. Really delicious. I'd go back for a pint. read more

Honestly the guy with the dark hair always in a man bun has a nasty attitude, and shouldn't work on busy nights, (like July 4th) He gave me a snotty, not-quite-eyeroll when I didn't ask for a scoop of the 1 ice cream I just tried (teaberry), and then didn't ask if I wanted a cup or a cone like they have all the other 800 times I've come here, and just threw it in a cup. A cone is half the fun and he didn't even give me the option. As soon as I asked for a scoop of the sea salt, he ran away and put it in a cup and I didn't see him again until he handed the cup to me, and since it was busy I didn't protest. He said "maybe, which one do you want to know" and I asked if they put strange things in their ice cream like corn syrup and other artificial sweeteners. He at first acted like I had arrived off planet Mars and seemed aghast anyone would ask this. Then he responded with "all ice cream has corn syrup in it'. -_- really? Actually dude NO real ice cream uses sugar, and for the amount of money you want to charge me for your lack luster ice cream you could at least use "the good stuff". Stopped by Ted and Wally's in the Old Market district of Omaha on the way to the airport. I'm sure glad I did! I began and they had a vegan peanut butter ice cream. We were in need of coffee for the road and this place is next-door to Iron Decor and More (see my separate review). The interior is cute and it's *very* popular, plus they have lots of delicious-sounding flavors of ice cream. We got a caramel latte and an English toffee latte - but if we'd known beforehand that the lids are the type you'd use for a soda, we never would have bought the coffee. The lids were incredibly unsafe and nearly impossible to use when driving & attempting to drink a hot beverage. Even when whichever one of us wasn't driving attempted to drink our coffee, it was nearly impossible. Plus, the coffee wasn't even good (it tasted really watered-down). We finally ended up throwing them away (not only a total waste of money, but we didn't come across any other places where we could get coffee). The only reason why I'm giving three stars instead of two, is because the young woman who made the coffee was really sweet and friendly. read more

Since the first time I tried this Old School Ice Cream shop I have always loved it. I love that when you walk in you feel like you've gone through time...until you read the clever written signs that shout 21st century employees, which is a delight. Over the years Ted & Wally's has stayed the same on the outside as well on the inside. The flavors change daily but the taste is consistent. Creamy, delicious, and full of goodness. The staff here are pretty friendly and do their best to serve you as quickly as they can especially when there is a long line. If there is any way for you to visit Ted & Wally's during their slow times, I would suggest doing that. It gets a bit chaotic when you're ready to pay. A normal experience, but just a heads up there. They are also pretty darn generous when scooping your bowl/cone/waffle cone for you as well, so remember to thank them with a smile. My very favorite combination here is Dutch Chocolate and Cappuccino. There's a distinct taste for both of these and I enjoy them mixed together. I have yet to try any other flavors mainly because when I find something good, I stick with it. So if any of my friends want to make a trip out to Ted & Wally's with me, please choose another flavor so I can try a spoonful of yours. Way back in the early 2000's I played my first of what would be many concerts in Omaha! Now you may ask where did you play, was it Sokol Underground or maybe O'Leaver's or was it a basement show? Nope it was at Ted and Wally's Ice Cream shop! After hours they shut the place down, turned off the Ice Cream maker and pulled out the PBR's and had a rock n roll show! It was a blast! And this place has always had a special place in my heart because of it! So I was very excited to show this place off the Ashley while we were in Omaha last weekend! She loves Ice Cream and I knew she would dig Ted and Wally's! Now it was hot out, hitting the low 90's and we went on a Saturday so the line was pretty epic! In fact it was out the door, but it moved fast and the Air was pumping inside so, once we got in, it was smooth sailing! I loved watching the old school Ice Cream maker spin on ice while standing in line, and while standing in line I notice, YES they have VEGAN ICE CREAM TODAY! When we finally get to the counter to order Ashley get's some Peach thing and I order the Vegan Kettle Corn Ice Cream, I was so lucky cause there was only one scoop left! It was easily the best Vegan Ice Cream I have ever had, it actually combined my two fave foods, Ice Cream and Pop Corn! Not sure what the hype is about. I sampled two flavors (mango and pink champagne) which were meh, then got a scoop of chocolate and vanilla thinking those would be safe. The chocolate was more sugar than cocoa, and the vanilla tasted fake. The texture wasn't great either. My husband and I shared the dish and neither one of us wanted to finish it, we chucked it halfway through. Only positives I can say is the strawberry topping was good and the service was friendly. Ted and Wally's is a quaint ice cream shop that makes all of its delicious wares on premises the old school homemade way with a big bucket filled with ice, rock salt and a tub of flavored cream being churned into ice cream. They offer plenty of flavors to choose from ranging from the standards to the more interesting. I imagine their menu changes frequently. I had a taste for cinnamon, so I had a scoop of their cinnamon ice cream. It wasn't the cheapest or the biggest scoop for the price, but it was certainly tasty. So thick that a spoon could barely scoop out a bite. We tried four different flavors and the Apple Pie was our favorite one. The employees who were working looked like they were in line for a death sentence; definitely not happy to be working at an ice cream shop.
