I'm an aging functional fitness trainer who has been known to over do it just a time or two, I developed a serious aversion to "bone cracking" chiros after too many bad experiences. So I really appreciate that Dr. Ted can use his activator to give precise adjustments without any of the physical trauma that comes with forced joint manipulation. Layer in his expertise with trigenics and the results can be quite remarkable. I was introduced to Dr. Ted about 5-6 years ago, and have ever since been relying on his consistent ability to sort me out when something goes awry in my biomechanics. Over the years he's corrected issues with my back, knees, hips, ankles, shoulders, elbow, wrist and thumb. (ok, I overdo it a lot) Dr. Ted is also the only chiropractor that I refer my clients to. I went to Ted Marriott for Chiropractic care for a shoulder injury that I had neglected for a few months. I thought it would get better on it's own, but it actually got worse over time. I was worried I'd ruined my shoulder by not getting it looked at right away. I had seen Ted previously for low back pain that had been chronic for several years. I knew he had several methods that aren't the jarring type of adjustments usually associated with chiropractic.... And I reached a point where the low back issue that had gone on so long was finally solved. I felt hopeful that he could help with my shoulder pain as well. To promote healing of my shoulder issue he did a combination of Trigenics manipulation of the muscles, rapid release to release the scar tissue that had formed, and gave me a protocol of stretches to do at home on a daily basis. He also suggested changing my sleeping position, how I hold my camera, and changing other everyday movements that added up to giving the shoulder a chance to heal and not get reinjured. I loved that there were no jarring adjustments at all. It was a customized solution that worked to provide relief right away and total healing over the treatment period. One of the best chiropractors you will find in your life. I've seen several chiropractors across 15+ years, and I have several requirements I look for when vetting chiropractors: 1) a holistic approach that considers both short-term and long-term issues (sleep, ergonomics, physical habits, etc.), 2) expertise in human physiology (muscular) in addition to chiropractic expertise, and 3) primary care via the Activator method. Dr Ted's earns a solid 5/5 stars in all 3 areas. My last visit was a great example: I was having headaches and stiff neck muscles from a minor misalignment, but also had sharp pain in my shoulder lasting 6+ weeks from falling asleep in a terrible position. Dr Ted resolved the neck in minutes, and spent the rest of the time understanding what happened to my shoulder. He isolated the muscle with a few tests and released the tension via Trigenics. Dr Ted then pulled out a textbook, flipped it to the exact page in seconds, and taught me which muscle was at issue (anterior deltoid), where it connected on each side, and some stretches I should do at home to recover quickly. It's the next day, and my shoulder pain is 80%+ gone, so I had to write a review. Recently moved to California and had to find a new chiropractor. Dr Ted office is a bit of a drive, but well worth it for the quality of care. One point I mentioned, but can't emphasize enough: even if Dr Ted's office is too far of a drive, only go to chiropractors trained in the Activator method. Other approaches can do more harm than good (speaking from first hand experience). The Activator method is the safest, is backed by the most research, and is a large reason why chiropractic care is now recognized for its effectiveness by some health insurance providers. Went to Dr Marriott on a recommendation. Hurt my back really badly from too many sessions at the gym and I needed help. I had already done acupuncture and didn't feel like it made much difference so I went to Dr. Marriott almost as a last resort. I gave him my insurance information and all I had to pay was 20 dollars as my co-pay. Not bad right? Did a couple mo's every Saturday; he uses an activator method so it's almost like a little shock that runs through your body. There was little to no 'cracking' involved. I noticed my back would get better little by little. Dr. Marriott was always very nice, he would tell me what was wrong, ways I needed to change my lifestyle if I wanted to get better. After a couple mo's I wondered if this back problem of mine was ever going to go away though, didn't really feel like I was improving 100% just 80% and he always recommended I come back. Then...before a Saturday appointment I get a call from his office letting me know that there's a problem with my insurance and that I wasn't covered for the whole treatment. 3 months later, I get slapped with a bill. You couldn't have thought to tell me that my insurance wasn't covered in the beginning? Then why'd you tell me to keep coming back? I felt that was really shady on his part to keep recommending treatments when he knew that I would have to pay out of pocket. Put a sour taste in my mouth. For over ten years, I suffered from extreme back pain. I took the highest daily dosages of Tylenol, Ibuprophen, and a narcotic pain reliever Norco. There were many days when I could not walk fifty feet because of the intense pain. This started to affect my job in traffic management at the City of San Jose. When the pain got unbearable, even with all the pills I was taking, the pain doctors would schedule me for an epidural injection of steroids into my lower spine, which would reduce my pain. I've now been a patient of Dr. Ted for about 5 years and I'm going to say it simply: I think chiropractors are a dime a dozen but finding a good one isn't easy. The two great ones I've found in my life both had sports backgrounds and Dr. Ted is one of them. I think when someone was an athlete in college or semi-professional they instinctively know what the body does and what it needs to thrive. After my chiropractor retired, had to go looking for a new one. I searched through the official Activator website in order to find a highly trained doctor in this discipline and came across Dr. Ted amongst the various chiropractors listed. However, he combines Activator with Trigenics and the result is enormously helpful when you're having problems. One of my favorite things is to follow an adjustment from him with 30-45 minutes on his warm Ceragem massage table. Super relaxing, wonderful way to stretch out the spine, and sometimes it almost puts me to sleep --- only my own snoring stops that :) Dr. Ted is fabulous and just a lovely person, and he has certainly helped me and my husband out. He also has a lot of character. Recently I took some Ibuprofen for a headache and then called for an appointment because I knew I was out of adjustment; he explained that taking pain killers before an adjustment can impact the body's ability to respond and, if he found that to be the case, then he wouldn't charge me for the office visit.
