This is an early stages luxury resort that is hitting full stride in 2026 having opened in 2022 and…read morerecently awarded 4 stars by Forbes. The main building is a lovely and spacious modern inn that balances comfort and traditional elements with open and wide modern floor plans and bright spaces in a pleasing way while retaining the cozy fireplace experiences of more traditional settings. A first floor outdoor veranda opposite the main entrance stretches the length of the main building overlooking the well groomed hillside vineyards and a stocked, picturesque fishing pond. The hillside stretches up the horizon and with the westward facing veranda, offers stunning sunset views along with wine service. Below is a patio off the main restaurant and bar offering even more seating around fire pits with couches and Adirondack chairs with appetizer and drinks available for the bar/restaurant. We toured a king 2 room suite with a large sitting area separated from an equally large and well appointed sleeping area with a private large balcony that also faced the western sunset over the vineyards. The rooms were described as more akin to an apartment whereas the 9 onsite yurts accommodations were described more akin to a condo, described as pet friendly and a quiet community. Behind the yurts is a large barn structure that serves as a tasting room with an outdoor seating area with Edison lights strung around the overhang creating a warm space to enjoy the vineyards end production, currently nine wine vintages. Beside the main building are two much larger shaped yurt structures housing a full fitness center and a spa as will as an outdoor pool. We dined at Hickory for dinner and enjoyed their farm to table, Appalachia oriented menus. That will be a separate review but it hits 10/10 for hospitality, service, presentation and food excellence. We plan a fall trip for an overnight stay when the vineyards come in just before harvest to get the full experience! Also, we initially had a glass of their Chardonnay and being pleased with this, we opted to enjoy a bottle with dinner even though the wine list had equally excellent choices from familiar vineyards. This is highly recommended!

I came because I…read morediscovered that Anthony's desserts, another Abingdon standout which closed tragically and unexpectedly, is presently reborn in the dessert case here. The place has its own desserts as well, but if you've seen a dessert by Anthony you'll have trouble turning that down. Which unfortunately, I did turn down; I did buy several of them, but I let other people eat all of them and didn't get any myself. I hear they were fantastic. All three Greeko's locations are presently offering these top quality desserts, for which I am very happy. Maybe there will be an independent dessert shop again someday, but I'm happy for another reason to come here. As to the actual Greek food, it is also well worth coming for. I got a sampler platter and enjoyed mixing my grape leaves and falafel in hummus and tzatziki. A few whole chickpeas and some spices definitely elevate the hummus. There are a few options I would like to try if I had more room or more time, as the menu has plenty of labeled offerings for special dietary needs and you can really get some nice variety. The interior is quite large, and although drive-through and takeout business seemed good, there were plenty of people here as well, and I expect continued success for them.

Came here on a whim while passing through, we were hoping for a more authentic feel but this spot…read moreis fast-food Greek. We were seated right away as there weren't but a few tables occupied on the Tuesday evening when we arrived. We both had the lamb gyro, which had a good taste. The server was welcome and the place was clean. I'd come back if in the area.

We grabbed a booth (you can seat yourself when you go in). Make sure you go in through the ENTER door. We started with waters while we looked over the menu. The waters were 32 oz to go cups! It's been 10 days since our visit and I think I'm still sipping on that water. It was a LOT of water. Our order consisted of a two hot dogs, onion rings, milkshakes, and a hot caramel cake. The hot dogs were good. Not great, but good. The onion rings were very nearly burnt. Probably just a touch too crispy. The milkshakes were ok. But one thing moved this review from a 3 to 4 star: the hot caramel cake. Holy cow. I know it was relatively simple but the yellow cake cupcake, in a bowl filled to the brim with hot caramel sauce, and a tower of vanilla soft serve....YUM! I'd come back here just for that. The service was hit or miss depending on who stopped by the table. All in all, I'd return but I'd try a burger and get a hot caramel cake AND a hot fudge cake.

The name and neighborly atmosphere are great. Southern Hospitality. BIG PORTIONS. I ordered a soda…read moreand water...the drink cups were at least 32oz each. Simple menu for a roadside diner. We did not order but looks like they have amazing ice cream sundae's on the menu. Glad we stopped! It was 3 minutes off the highway and much better than fast food at a gas station. Check them out!

The serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner depending on the day. It's a little disconcerting when you pull up to my the entrance and slightly more as you step in the dining room. But the place, though worn, is spotlessly clean. The food that they prepare is all scratch made to order. So don't be impatient it's well worth the wait. My wife had corn dogs and fries. The corn dogs had a wonderful crunchy cornmeal crust that reminded me of my childhood (I'm pushing 70). I had the patty melt that had a very tasty yet unknown cheese that was so melty that I loved the sandwich. This place is a little out of the way but if you are anywhere near Johnson City it's worth the effort.

The pancakes were just ok.... They made the batter as we ordered it so it didn't have time to absorb the flour so it wasn't all that good. He said he would try a burrito next time. I loved my biscuits and gravy. The gravy was a darker color but the sausage was so flavorful and it was light in pepper which I like because I don't like pepper. The biscuit was a really great size and fluffy. The bacon is not thick cut but still Crispy and good, eggs were cooked nicely. Now on to the cheddar rounds..... I try these all over but these are the absolute closest you will get to the Pals version. They were lacking the season salt which would have made them taste like Pals. Over all I was very happy and will definitely be back!!! Also the prices were good (pic of menu (included)

Last night we ate there with the same couple who dined with us the first time...and we all were quite disappointed, unfortunately. My husband and I shared the NY strip steak. There was a surprising amount of fat for this cut of meat, and the steak also had none of that delicious char you expect. It was a bit underdone for the medium we'd requested, but not too far off. Our friends fared worse. The husband ordered a rib eye and deemed it "just ok." The wife ordered a filet cooked medium and it came out completely rare. She tried eating around the edges but left most of her steak untouched (I would have sent mine back to the kitchen if I were her, but my friend is wary of sending meat back; she said she was afraid it would then be overcooked). Her broccolini side dish was so undercooked that it was basically raw, so she didn't eat that either. The french fries and baked potato were fine, and our server was capable and pleasant. However, given the overall experience, we won't be back. That type of meal is handled much better by Stonewall's in Banner Elk.
