The pros: The store looked semi new and was pretty clean. There was only one family inside eating when we arrived so no wait to place our order. They have vegetarian and vegan friendly options. The set up is similar to Chipotle where you select your burrito or bowl then select toppings. The employee was pleasant and quick in serving us. I got a chicken rice bowl and my husband got a veggie rice bowl. The tortilla chips that come with the meal are pretty good and I ordered a side of cheese dip that was warm and had a good consistency for dipping though the flavor wasn't anything special. The cons: The quality of the food was underwhelming to put it kindly. The food was all room temperature and looked nothing like the food in the advertisement. The chicken was flavorless and appeared to be boiled and shredded or perhaps a canned chicken item, not the marinated and grilled chicken pieces I was expecting. The lettuce had a noticeable brown tint, the pico de Gallo was clearly made with soggy canned tomatoes (despite being advertised as made fresh daily) and the guac was very gray and unappetizing from the oxidation of the avocados. The concept has potential but I won't be back.

The lettuces and other vegetables were so beautifully crisp and appetizing and the dressing was freshly made on site. The protein bowl was my entree and couldn't have been more satisfying. It too was pleasing in its presentation with its perfectly grilled kernels of corn and chicken breast on top--Just delightful and the portion was generous so I had leftovers to take home. My husband enjoyed the roasted turkey with cornbread dressing. Again the portions were plentiful and the plating showed the kitchen's pride by making sure everything looked as good it tasted. I could go on, but suffice it to say that we went back a couple of nights later. The menu is so varied, we could eat here for days without repeating an entree. Thanks, BMB!

They're definitely spicy, so not for the faint of heart. I also ordered the smoked Gouda veggie wrap with sweet potato fries. It was delicious and had a generous amount of pesto and balsamic vinegar. I ordered the pineapple coconut cake to take home for the next day, and it was fantastic! It was so light and refreshing. My server was very attentive and had excellent hospitality. I'll definitely be back at the bistro when I'm in town!

I went with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and superb. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich with onion rings, and both were excellent. Everything came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and very flexible when we had a couple of special requests. Prices for the entrées seemed on the higher side for a small town, but there are plenty of soups, sandwiches, and other more affordable choices on the menu. Portions are generous and the quality is solid, so it feels like a fair value, especially if you're treating yourself for a special occasion. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return.

I suppose proximity to the Va Creeper Trail encouraged this as I could see folk holding up a table whilst waiting would be a potential issue. We were seated promptly and given menus and served water and sodas. The rock music was pretty loud for the restaurant, which has some smaller rooms that are serviceable but cramped and a bit echoey and dark. By 12:35 our order was in and by 12:51 on our table. The table has a nice individual light, and a bottle of water on the table. Unlike some other local restaurants, soda refills are free and a pitcher was brought by the table to serve refills of diet coke. What was not good was the large beer poster of the St Paulie Girl with her nipples hanging out. I realize these are beer posters and I realize they are German and things are different there. But this was a prominently placed poster. I just wouldn't think a place where a lot of families dine would put this in such a prominent spot, or any spot really. I'm not a super prude, I just raised three sons. So the sandwich though, was very good.
