At first it was difficult to get information over the phone and to schedule an appointment. Apparently there was one person who may have the expertise for my Subaru. Maybe there was another reason, who knows? When I was there I asked very direct questions based on my limited knowledge of my car's issues and a previous estimate from the dealership. I didn't get direct answers and basically was told they'd have to work on the car to get the full picture. I made the mistake of sharing a written estimate. They basically recommended a lot of work which would require me to spend about what was on the previous estimate from the dealer, but not the exact same work. I was primarily concerned with anything that would effect safety and just being able to depend on the car not breaking down. They recommended new tires because of rot. I hadn't seen any rot but I took their word for it. They also did some suspension work, less than what I was going to get done at the dealership. I think they wanted me to buy tires through them also but that wasn't happening. After their work, I got my car back and got new tires from Costco. I still spent a lot of money. The quality of the work was good but the service, exchange of information and overall experience wasn't good. I know a few things about cars, I just don't work on them anymore because of all of the new technology. I think I know enough to know that I probably spent a few hundred dollars more than I needed to. Good quality work but not the value that I anticipated based on the reviews.

Confirmed cost as well, then left the car there for 6 hrs to get an oil change, change the battery for the emergency on call system and complete a software upgrade to remove the message on the dash. Picked car up & was told they couldn't clear the message & I should go to Volvo & pay $400, and tte mechanic literally asked how he was supposed to know the required repairs & upgrades for every car... I don't know, maybe the same way I did it - online research! So he said he changed the battery, so I bought a $ 14 cable & a3day membership to VIDA for $85 & did the upgrade myself, which took 4 minutes to complete... I believe I was speaking to the owner; he assumed when I described the repairs needed that I didn't know what I was talking about, misquoting repair amount & couldn't even do the job because he didn't care to research it. He wrote those charges off, but didn't address replacing the back brakes as requested either. I don't understand why he had my car for 6 hrs and failed to do half of what was requested. After returning home from these repairs, I noticed grease splatter and leaking from the cv axles. This was taken care of on an additional visit at no cost to me. Then in Jan '25, I returned to have the A/C looked at again (for the original issue) and some new clunking noises that had surfaced from front end work. This time I'm told there is no visible issues with the A/C and the clunking noises could be anything. With the mis-diagnoses of the A/C, clunking issues, and leaking of the axle, I've decided that I can no longer trust the "guessing and wanting to throw parts at it", that Stephen made reference to. I will no longer need servicing at Rennen Imports.
