Went in fully expecting to drop my bike off to pick up later. I had attempted to adjust the front derailleur and had it all goofed up! To my surprise...they said let me take a look at. He advised against it and went online e to help me find some higher rise handlebars ordered them, and installed them no Extra charge! I love these guys and have been back three times. I needed a new bike and had little idea exactly what I wanted. I went into Ted's and was greeted by PJ. He asked me a bunch of questions and then began showing me bikes which might fit my needs. He was super informative and turned our discussion into a much-needed highly educational bicycle tutorial. (Bikes have evolved a lot, and I needed to know what has changed over the last 15 years.) I soon identified the bike which met my needs best, and it turns out it was on sale. I bought a few accessories--all at very fair prices. The bike came within a week--absolutely gorgeous--and PJ set it up to fit me. I am really pleased with how much bike I got for my money. Great experience. I brought my newly acquired used bike in to get it changed from a fixie to a regular geared bike, and change valve stems to regular style. I was looking for a front wheel for my bicycle and Ted's had it. No big deal, it would seem, but apparently 27" wheels are no longer an item in demand. Ted's was the only place that had one on hand. I do want to give kudos to Criterium as they told me to call Ted's, and even gave me their number. Perhaps bicycle stores are the last bastion of honest competition. I got to Ted's the next afternoon and what a friendly place. They had a large family purchasing a couple of bikes for some small children so it was a bit hectic, yet they took it all in stride and found me my wheel and I was on my way. I did ask about a map of the area and was promised they would call when they got their resupply. BTW, the wheel was super reasonably priced and Ted made sure I understood the reason for the tighter than normal axle cones. Ted's is now my go-to bike shop! read more

I needed a new bike shop to tune up and repair my bike since the quality of service of my previous shop had gotten questionable. I decided to give Ted's Bicycles a try about a year and a half ago, and they've been my go-to shop ever since. They've always been able to fit me into a timely schedule, sometimes even getting the job done right then while I grab a bite to eat, they always do a consistently great job working on my bike, their prices are extremely reasonable, and all the guys there are really humble, helpful, and friendly. Every time I go there to have work done on my bike, me and the shop guys get into conversations about rides we've gone on or trips we're planning. The place definitely gives the vibes of a bike shop run by guys that put their love for biking over a love for profit. As long as I'm local to the Springs, I'll be supporting Ted's. read more

Stopped in to buy a bike for our son's birthday. Not a big selection of bikes. I cannot comment on the customer service because we did not receive any. We walked around the shop for 10 minutes, not one employee in sight; they were all in the "service" area. No one greeted us or acknowledged we were there. There was a couple sitting there who told us "they just got slammed". An employee came out with their bike, did not acknowledge us or say "I'll be right with you". The phone rang so another employee came to the front, answered the phone, and proceeded to assist the customer who called rather than help us. He overheard me say to my husband, "Let's just go to another bike shop; they're obviously not interested in our business", he said "Oh, I'll get someone to help you". Nope. With the whole Corona pandemic going on just like everyone else I was in the market for a new bike. I originally was going to purchase directly from Giant but decided to give my business to someone local and thankfully I did as they were extremely helpful. When I went to pick up my bike the bike was assembled and tuned for my weight and size. They then offered a discount on all additional accessories which was a great perk since I was planning on doing so in the future but with the new bike discount really couldn't go wrong. Overall my bike purchase was a great experience with friendly knowledgable staff and lifetime tune-ups included kinda hard not to go wrong with shopping with them. read more

Horrible! Stupid Mechanics! Rip off prices and low quality! no common sense! Went for a new rim/ cassette build, was charged over $100 for the exact parts i later found on ebay for less then $40 for everything. whatever i needed it in a pinch and when i got home to instal the tube and tire i realized the mechanic installed THE WRONG SIZE RIM. This is extremely frustrating that the mechanic didn't even listen to me when i specifically told him it needed a rim for a 27.5" tire yet he installed one for a 26" tire. read more

Was in the market for a new bike for my 10 y.o son. Did all my research online. I ultimately chose Ted's because they are a small, local business and had what we wanted. Very helpful on the phone and answered all my questions. Gave me a deal on the bike and had it ready within an hour after I told them we were on the way to get it. If you're a bike snob, this is the store for you! I went in looking to purchase a Giant or Trek, explaining I needed to size it to convert it to an eBike. Once I told them, I did not want to buy their underpowered factory eBike because I live in the mountains, they proceeded to tell me what a law breaker I was. I tried calmly explaining the car they drive well exceeds speed limits from the factory, but I was told "we cannot help you". recently went to teds bicycle shop to transfer groupset from one frame to another... my problem was that i was told before bringing my bike in that the cost would be 100.00.. -- the total cost when finished = 259.00... granted,, i needed a 50.00 front derailleur..... the initial cost assess was 100.00 (labor) ... final cost = 200.00 for labor. i did not appreciate "teds" telling me one cost and charging me another. if you work with teds.... get it in writing to begin with. read more

I'm a beginner, just looking to purchase my first bike in a looooong while. I went into this shop after reading these various great reviews on Yelp. I was met by a young guy (about 20 years old) who directed me promptly to GIANT bikes, all new. He immediately asked how much I wanted to spend. I was looking for a bit of a talk-through, wanting to pick to brain of an expert on exactly what I might need. He didn't seem to know much beyond "uh, there are lots of different types of components".....awkward silence. Not sure if I just got an unusually inexperienced salesperson, but I would certainly say that this is not the place to go if you're needing education and are a beginner. It may be that this is indeed the "go-to" place for people who really know what they're doing, but for education and getting started....it is not. read more

Went to pick up my 29er Talon 3 Giant MTB this morning which as promised took about a week to come in as it is the new 2019. Went in to buy some disc brake pads, for my mountain bike, I figured it would be about the same price if I ordered them online, and recieved them. Told the clerk/mechanic what I needed, and paid for them. Got home and realized that the sticker on the disc brake pads package said $12.99 a pair (I bought two pair), and I was charged $14.99 a pair in the store, and on my receipt it says the same. I called back and asked why I was charged the higher price when the label on the item I purchased clearly stated $12.99. The person I spoke to said that sometimes their items still have the old price son them, and they are only updated in the stores system. My question would be why wasn't this pointed out at the time of my intial purchase, and why did I have to call back to get my debit card creditted, for the difference? How many other customers has this happened to, and they just simply never noticed the price difference, and paid unknowingly? read more

I purchased a used bike from a bike shop in Evergreen, CO. I was never happy with the bike - it had all kinds of issues. I took it to another bike shop in Evergreen and they claimed there was nothing they could do to fix the problems. Since I live in Colorado Springs, I thought I'd try Ted's shop. They did an AMAZING job on my bike. I was ready to throw it out and now it works perfect. This is THE ONLY bike shop I will use in the future. This is what happened. I bought a Cypress DX on December 4th, 2019, Mark was the salesperson, I was 70 years old, my first sophisticated bike, other than the Walmart special that didn't last. I just wanted to see if I would like it, which I did. So, I was an inexperienced bike rider, etc. I like the Cypress except the tires seems too narrow, I wanted a bigger tire, Mark assured me they were good tires and I would like them. I did not like them. A few hours later I was back at Teds, it cost another $40.27 for a larger tire because the originals were considered "used" now. Mark showed me a couple of tires he said would fit and I chose a more nubby tire. Although I did get more vibration from the larger and nubby tires, I did not realize that they were rubbing until about 3 months later. On March 7th, 2020 I was back at Teds buying new tires that cost me another $45.01. The new tire fit and I've had them ever since. This was not my mistake, Mark said they fit, so I had to pay for their mistake, I did not like it. A reputable company would take responsibility for their own mistakes. I wanted to get my bike back to Teds before the one-year expiration date for a free tune up, which I did on December 2nd, 2020. My only complaint was, that at times it would not shift smoothly, Mark said I needed a new chain, so I bought one, cost, $27.35. Since I was back to work, I did not have time to ride it right away, when I did it was not shifting smooth at all and worst with the new chain. I brought it back to Teds, not sure who the employee was. When I told him what the problem was with the new chain, he said, "Really ?", it was obvious he did not believe me. He put it on the rack and test drove it, he assured me everything was in order even though I continued to complain about the rough shifting. On January 23rd, 2021, I had a chance to take the bike on the trails, in high gear it kept slipping, jerking in and out of gear. so yes, I was upset. That same day I called Teds, Mark answered the phone, I complained about the new chain and also when I had to buy new tires that fit. I told Mark that I was not going to spend any more money. I bought it in, a more experienced technician test drove it he said the high gear was bad, he tried to sell me a new cassette even though I already told Mark I was not spending any more money. This was the 2nd time they wanted me to pay for their mistake or when they misdiagnosed the problem. I asked them if I can be compensated for their previous mistake, they made no offer. So now I paid more money for a new chain and have a bike that performed better with the original one. Asking me for more money reminds me of a shifty car mechanic. Being that they did not take responsibility for their previous mistake, I'm sure if this was not the problem, I would pay again. I may be naïve and be a new member to the biking community but, I'm not going to let anyone swindle me, more likely due to their incompetence. The last 3 times I visited the shop I had a bad experience with the employees being rude. The manager especially... one time he distracted another employee from helping me with his own problems for a very long time so I actually ended up just leaving. Another time I went in for repairs and an employee told me to come inside so they could help me and then moments later the manager told us to wait outside very rudely.
