This was by far the best experience I've had at a bike shop. I can't recommend them enough. They took so much time to go over everything with me. I was searching for a full suspension mountain bike and went to a few different shops. Ascent took everything into consideration and had me try out multiple bikes. They took the time to adjust each bike I tried to fit my weight, height, etc. They also took into consideration my budget and asked questions to help me get the best fit for me. I went back and forth between them and another shop that also had bikes I was interested in. I was initially leaning toward the one at the other shop and I have to say I was feeling that I was going to be disappointed giving the business to the other shop but obviously wanted to get the bike that I felt was the best fit and feel for me. They had one in stock that I had not even been considering initially but it worked perfectly. Once I knew which bike was the one, they made adjustments and let me ride it around and continued the process of making adjustments until I felt that everything was where I wanted it. I felt they were more about educating me and listening to what I had to say and determining what I wanted AND what would be best for me. Where the other shop, while they were nice just felt a bit more "salesy" and not looking to talk to me and ask questions to find the best bike for me. I cannot recommend this place enough and this will be our go to bike shop from now on. read more

One of the worst things a small bike shop can do to themselves is do a half baked job... and inspire a customer to go home and learn to do it themselves. A shop loses money every time that happens. I brought in an old bike for a tune up. They changed the cables and such as they were oxidized. They tried to sell me new parts, saying chain was stretched and rear gears were bad. Tech said he "did the best he could" to get it to shift correctly. He said my bike was old technology and I needed to buy a new bike. I went home, examined the bike and realized the tech hadn't even cleaned or lubed the chain. In fact... the bike was dry as a bone and still had a cobweb in the spokes from sitting in my garage. Was anything lubricated? No. The bike had been sitting for a while... that is the very reason I brought it to them. I cleaned it thoroughly with degreaser, lubed the parts, then watched a YouTube video on how to adjust everything. 30 minutes later it was working great. Sure its old, but all it needed was TLC. They get 2 stars because they replaced my cables and I appreciate that. However, charging a customer for a tune, not lubing anything, and letting it leave the shop not shifting is not professional work. I can figure out out to not lube my bike myself. I'm sorry my bike is too old to be "worthy" of their mechanics attention. read more

Bought some shoes from these guys a few years ago and they treated me great. I stopped by today to look at e-bikes and was well taken care of. I test rode two different bikes and Louis took about 5 minutes each to set them up for my weight and height, then sat me on the bikes to double check the sag. I have never had any shop do that for a test ride. I've never had a shop do that for a bike I bought. He even suggested I go to other shops to ride other brands. They run their business like I run my own. Most bike shops are run by nice people, but these guys are tops. Great product knowledge. read more

Brought my 4 year old son's bike in due to a flat rear tire. Didn't get his name, but the person helping us was prompt and quickly fixed it within 10 minutes! My son watched as his bike was fixed, he loved all the tools since he has his own play tools at home too. My son is so happy that he can finally ride his bike again! I've been in here twice, both times I was helped by friendly associates and found why I needed. One of the times, unaware they were about to close, I called before driving there to see if they could change out the tires on my daughter's bike. The man on the phone let me come in past closing, did a quick tire change, and carried the bike out. Just that interaction alone made me think of this place when I needed to get another small thing later. I don't have a bike, but if I did, I'd come here more often. read more

I'm on the fence between giving 3 or 4 stars. Today was my first time into Ascent. I'd heard a lot about it from some of the guys at work, and thought I'd drop in after I snapped my chain on a ride today. Seriously. They had my bike up on the service stand in minutes and had the chain swapped out in another couple of minutes. All told $35. The best part was unlike other shops in town they didn't tack on a service fee. Of course looking online you can find the SRAM chain for much cheaper ($18ish), but I would have had to order it, wait for it, and then still take it some place to have to changed. Huge selection of mountain bikes, a lot of which are full-suspension and 29ers too. The weird thing was that many of the bikes in the showroom don't have prices on them. I'm sure I'll be back and then they'll probably get the bump up to 4 stars. read more

I went in for a new helmet and saddle, I was just browsing and an employee came and asked if he could help (this was all good). After about 4-7 min of talking with him, I had no more questions so he let me be (this also was ok). But then the trouble started, it was as if I could not look for more than 2-4 mins without him coming over and asking us stuff. This got kinda annoying after the 3rd time and he persisted until we ended up buying something and leaving. I like to take my time when buying things, I don't want to feel like I have a sniper trained on me, hoping to get a sale because he is commissioned. I understand if there are not a lot of people and or you don't want someone just sitting around in the store. BUT I'm about to drop around $100+ so I will take my time. If you are looking to buy some bike gear just go to one of the other bike shops in the CS area. I know my girlfriend and her dad had a pretty positive experience buying a bike with them. But it's not like they have any other options because of the bike shortage going on. read more

We took in our two e-bikes to Ascent Bikes to have the brakes checked because they were making a scraping sound. The owner checked out both bikes thoroughly and adjusted the brakes, spokes, and wheels - no brake pads needed - adjusted the shifters and oiled the chains, all while we watched. He knew what he was doing. The social distancing was great! People waited in a properly spaced line outside and there were only two parties inside at a time. Masks worn by everyone. Great service and great price- only $45 for both bikes to be tuned. We will be regular customers! read more

I was considering buying a mountain bike off Craig's list, and met the seller here so that I could get a pre-buy inspection on the bike as I'm not very familiar with full suspension bikes and what to look for. The seller and I arrived a little before the shop opened, and were at the door when the owner arrived. He seemed a little perturbed about something, but this was right when the Waldo canyon fire was going crazy so I assumed he was affected somehow. Anyway, I told him I was thinking of buying the seller's bike, but wanted them to do a pre-buy inspection before I made a decision. I told him that I would of course pay him for his trouble, and while he agreed to do it, he seemed super pissed about it the whole time. After his inspection, he said the rear cassette, middle sprocket, and chain needed to be replaced. The seller and I negotiated, I bought the bike, and asked Patrick to make the repairs. The next day I was called by another employee and told the bike was ready. I came down, and met with what I assumed was the other owner. I attempted to make some small talk, but felt like I was treated as some newbie douche. Ok... I've been out of mountain biking for a few years since I moved away, but I grew up riding mountain bikes in Evergreen! Besides, why would you treat a customer like that? Anyway, I took the bike and went for a ride that day. Right away I noticed issues with it shifting incorrectly, so I brought it back. This time a much friendlier employee helped me out, and made some adjustments. It was definitely better, so I went on my way and was much happier with my experience (I even changed my original Yelp review from a negative to a positive). The bike held up well for a couple of rides, but then today the small front sprocket detached in the middle of a ride. I had also started to experience a bunch of weird shifting issues again. Sick of dealing with Ascent by now, I took it over to Criterium. I explained my situation to the VERY helpful (and cool) tech at Criterium, and he said he'd take a look. Right away he was shocked... All of the front sprockets were loose, as no loctite was used to secure the mounting bolts. The left crank was also loose, the front derailleur was bent, and the cable was routed incorrectly. The brand new chain installed by Ascent was also too short!! The tech was absolutely shocked by the "Catastrophe" (his words) that Ascent let out their doors. He said I was lucky I didn't end up seriously damaging the bike and/or crashing hard. Beyond ridiculous that Ascent would release my bike like that. Also ridiculous was the difference in how I was treated. At Ascent, I was treated like a newbie douchebag. At Criterium, everybody was super cool and very knowledgeable. read more

I just went in for my sons brakes and I wasn't able to catch the guys name but he fixed the bike at no charge, I know maybe it was something simple but he coulda easily charged me $5-$10 bucks, they are great I'll definitely return ! read more

I took my sons bike in 2 weeks ago. It needed a tune up, a new tube, and I asked for a hand brake for the front to be added to the bicycle. After a week, they called and said it was ready other than the brake (it was in yet) and to pick up the bike and bring it back when the brake arrived. I asked for them to keep the bike, and install the brake when it arrived. They call a week later saying that the brake arrived and for us to bring the bike back. I explained that the bike was still in their possession, that we never picked it up. The denied that. I asked for the owner to call me. They instead put me on hold, 10 minutes later, they've found the bike. They said it would be ready Friday. Then they call an hour later saying the brake was done and to pick up the bike. I pick up the bike, and $55 later and 2 weeks later, they replaced the already working back brake, never installed the front brake as discussed upon drop off, the chain guard is now missing and it didn't get a tune up. Nothing was greased or cleaned up. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and will not be taking our families bikes back there. So basically $50 for a new tube, ripped of on replacing the already working back brake and now missing bike parts. Horrible experience! read more

These guys will give you their full attention and expertise, whether you are buying a top of the line carbon bike, or are just getting some routine maintenance done on your kid's Huffy. I've bought two Specialized mountain bikes from these guys, and will buy my next bike from them for the following two reasons: (1). Awesome follow up mechanical support - whereas most bike shops will give you a couple of months of service if you buy a new bike (the window expires before you even break it in) Ascent takes care of you for as long as you own the bike; (2). Military discount - Ascent supports our active and retired troops with a generous discount, something you'd think would be standard in a military town, but these guys are some of the few who actually do. I wanted a brand of bike and wheel set that they don't normally carry, so they became dealers of both just to get me what I wanted. Easily the best bike shop in the springs if you are a mountain biker. Patrick, one of the owners, is extremely knowledgable and more than willing to explain the reasons behind his recommendations. I was completely new to mountain biking last spring when I walked in the door here and even though I hadn't bought my bike from them Patrick showed me everything I needed to do to maintain my bike and some basic trail side repairs, at no cost! Just yesterday these free lessons paid dividends when I got a flat about 15 miles away from my truck up in Buffalo Creek. Thanks to the expert instruction from Patrick I was able to swap out my tube and finish off my ride with no further issues. Will definitely be buying my next bike here. read more

Took in my bike to get a tune up, got the basic package, which included , bike wipe down, shocks wipe down and grease, and tire inflation and more, but none of these things were done, got my bike back even dirtier then I brought it in, also asked if they could adjust my shocks to my weight they said yes and didn't do, so now it makes me wonder if they even did anything to the bike except replace the parts the I bought. read more

Our family highly recommends Ascent Cycling...... Both from a purchase and service point of view!!! Nothing compares!!! We purchased a bike at Ascent for my son a year ago after shopping around throughout the Springs. We were so pleased with the price and customer service experience we were given at the time of purchase. We will use Ascent for any future bike purchases! We use the bike repair service at Ascent as well. On our most recent visit Patrick went above and beyond!! We had ridden 2 of our bikes through a very thorny field and brought our bikes in with flat tires, front and backs on both bikes. Patrick took the time to remove 100s of thorns (goat heads) from our 4 tires as well as replace the tubes. Despite the mess we brought him, he was still able to complete our bikes in one day!!! He was so helpful! Not only did Patrick fix the bike tires but he also insisted on loading our bikes back up on the bike rack for us!!! AND... He stayed past normal closing time so that I could pick them up!!! It is so nice to have a trustworthy bike shop that offers such an awesome customer experience!!! read more
