    Pastrami sandwich
    Christy S.

We found Ted's as we were looking for a light lunch. It was perfect with a variety of sandwiches. We had the pastrami and the caprese. Both were good, but my favorite thing was the potato salad. It was great. There is also a large area with lots of meats and cheeses that you could use to make your own charcuterie, and there appears to be a full butcher shop as well.

This is a cute and delicious butcher and deli. We came here for a late lunch after going to the African American museum. I had a fantastic bbq pork sandwich with aside fruit salad. On a side note the bottled iced tea is so good! I can't recall the brand. The service was quick and friendly. I highly recommend!

Felt like a good deli sandwich today so I stopped by Ted's Butcher Block today lunch and they did not disappoint. I was on my lunch break but could totally see myself stopping by after work for a glass of wine and a charcuterie board! I got the pastrami sandwich & it was so delicious and the meat was so flavorful! I got it lightly toasted with red onions & garlic aioli absolutely delicious! The perfect sandwich! I also picked up some andouille sausage to take home with me.

    Pate choices!

What a fabulous establishment this is! We shared the pastrami sandwich which was phenomenal with these unusual and wonderful pickled cuke slivers. Even more phenomenal was their mushroom pie. I know I would gain 20 pounds in the 2 months of living near here. Their deli cases were filled with wonderful meats and sausages, pates have never heard of, side dishes, such as potato salad and coleslaw. The former we got with our sandwich and it was really good and I'm not a potato salad person. they are in a group of retail establishment so there is private parking!!

Great service, though a bit on the small side if you plan on having something to eat here. Meaning seating is a bit tight, but the turnover is quick. The BACON OF THE MONTH BLT SANDWICH - Featured artisanal bacon (changes each month), tomato, mixed greens & garlic aioli on a soft ciabatta roll, was amazing! Otherwise, from wine, to custom charcuterie trays, to frozen food selections, to (obviously) meat, and some fish -- come here. I need to search for a place like this close to where I live!

Wagyu Beef Panini and Potato Salad

Wagyu Beef Panini is wonderful! Full of flavor. Delicious meat on a soft roll, what's not to love?!? Perfect spot for lunch.

This place is fun. From the moment you walk in the door Ted's feels like how you'd like a sandwich and butcher shop to feel. Classy, filled with all sorts of high quality meats, deli items, drinks, and even some desserts. There is a counter where you can order a variety of fresh salads and sandwiches if you are dinning in with a solid selection of choices. Indoors there is plenty of seating even on a busy day, with a cool busy downtown vibe overall. On this visit we sat outside, which is out back and could be missed if you didn't know it was there (Pro Tip!). We ordered several sandwiches and enjoyed eating on their back courtyard picnic tables. Overall, it was enjoyable experience, so we are looking forward to our next visit! Guten Appetit!

I found a great wine from the NY Finger Lakes- who knew they were between Austria and Spain??

Teds Butcherblock is a great spot for oh so many things. As the name implies- it is a butcher shop- think 6 different kinds of the best bacon you have ever had and may other high end types of meats. This is a great place to order your organic Thanksgiving Turkey! They also do sandwiches and other prespared food and it is a great wine shop! This time I stopped in for wine and I found a favorite Riesling from the Finger Lakes- looking on the winery's website this is one of two shops in the Charleston area where you can find this wine. Ted's has some unusual things. They also have a Big Green Egg where they cook amazing meat - like I said- it's a unique spot.

Absolutely wonderful spot for lunch, especially when visiting the aquarium, Fort Sumter visitor center, or the international African American museum as this is within walking distance of all three. There are so many options to choose from, with wonderful sandwiches, salads etc. I had the barbecued pulled pork panini with a fruit salad side, which provided just the right mix of the tangy BBQ sauce and the sweet fruit salad. I even loved the organic iced tea, which was flavorful tea and required no additional sweetener. Pricing was very affordable averaging less than $20 per person, quite a value for all that was delivered. The location is a well-designed meat/cheese shop, and restaurant all wrapped into one, with comfortable seating and a very friendly staff. This was an excellent experience, and I would certainly highly recommend it.

I stopped by Burbage Meats this weekend to get a steak for myself and see how it was before committing to buying a fair number of steaks. I got a ribeye for myself, and saw some fresh hot dogs and sausages as well as some local items like peach soda from Georgia and BBQ sauce. The hot dogs I got are fantastic and they are actually cheaper per pound than high quality ones from Publix. As a native New Yorker I could eat hot dogs every day for lunch, which is exactly what I have been doing, and they are great. I cooked up the ribeye last night, the way I usually do (sit on the counter top with salt for 30 minutes, 2 minute sear per side in a cast iron pan with a knob of butter and finished in the broiler) and it came out with a perfect crust and was so tender it came apart significantly with just my fork. Flavor was amazing too, much beefier than ribeye usually tastes. I also got a pre-made beef stroganoff which I ate for dinner, and while it wasn't my favorite stroganoff, it was really good and hit the spot. I will definitely be having Burbage do the meats for myself event in a few weeks! J.Ja

Galpão Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse - Food Review 4.6 / 5…read moreStars If you're looking for an authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience in Charleston, Galpão Gaucho delivers a premium, meat-forward dining experience that leans heavily into quality, variety, and attentive service. The Experience From the moment you sit down, the pace is noticeable--in a good way. Service is fast and efficient, with gauchos consistently rotating through the dining room offering a wide selection of fire-roasted meats. The rhythm of service keeps your plate full without feeling rushed, which is exactly what you want in a traditional Brazilian steakhouse setting. Food Quality & Selection The highlight here is undeniably the extensive variety of meats. From classic cuts like picanha to a range of seasoned beef, chicken, and pork options, there's no shortage of choices. Each cut is carved tableside and served fresh off the skewer, giving you that authentic churrascaria feel. The salad and vegetable bar is impressively large, offering everything from fresh greens and roasted vegetables to cheeses and cold cuts. It's not just filler--it's actually well-stocked and thoughtfully prepared, making it easy to balance out the heavier meat options (if you have the discipline). What Stands Out Fast, continuous service - you're never waiting long for the next cut Wide variety of meats - something for every preference Large, well-rounded salad bar - more than just an afterthought Attentive staff - consistent with what you'd expect from a high-end Brazilian steakhouse Where It Falls Short Salt level can be a bit heavy on some meats, which may not suit everyone Price point (~$85 per person) puts it firmly in the premium dining category Parking is limited, though nearby parking decks make it manageable with a short walk Final Verdict Galpão Gaucho is a solid choice for a high-end dining experience in Charleston, especially if you're going in hungry and want to indulge. While the seasoning can occasionally lean too salty and the price isn't light, the overall experience--driven by quality meats, variety, and strong service--makes it worth it for a special occasion or a serious night out. Best for: Date nights, celebrations, business dinners, or anyone wanting a true Brazilian steakhouse experience without compromise.

It was pleasantly quiet when we arrived, but it filled up quickly as the evening went on -- a good sign. The food here is genuinely delicious and, best of all, reasonably priced for downtown Charleston. We shared a plate that came with pulled pork and smoked chicken wings, along with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. We also started with the smoked rib and charred corn empanadas as an appetizer. Everything was outstanding -- the meats were tender, smoky, and well-seasoned without being overdone. Their coleslaw is my favorite among the options; it's creamy with just a hint of heat that keeps it interesting. The sweet potato fries were a nice touch too. We had our eye on the pork belly burnt ends, but they were sold out that night -- understandable for a popular item. My only real nitpick is that they don't offer brisket, but with everything else tasting so good, it's hard to complain much. Our waitress, Brady, was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and really helpful with recommendations. Service like that makes a big difference. If you're in the mood for quality smoked BBQ without the tourist-trap markup, Poogan's Smokehouse is a great choice. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Highly recommended!
