We decided to try this place out... Overall it's really nice inside and we sat at the bar area, we waited for a long time for our server, he came and took our drink order and said he would be right back with menus, came back with free corn chips and dip and our drinks and menus, again took a long time for him to return upon ordering our food he did not write down our order, when he finally came with our food, one of the orders came out wrong.. he took the dish back and came out with the order correct, we ate and just asked for the check... food is good , portions were very small for the price and the drink menu is pricey slow service!... Word of advise always write down peoples food order!! read more

So unfortunate this establish is completely racist. Walked in and the woman in front of us was walked to her table. We were told to go sit at whatever table. The couple behind us was also walked to their table. Sat for about 25 min and watched about 6 different waiters and waitresses serve every other table. After about 25 min a white couple was walked to their table brought drinks and silverware immediately. I asked for the manager which was even more of a let down. I explained what happened and how it's strange the interracial couple just gets completely ignored. To then the manager or natick said he had no time for me and walked away. Idk his name hes from natick as I saw his sons soccer shirt while his wife was sat there watched us get ignored as she swallowed down her margarita. I almost never leave negative reviews, but saw Temazcal listed and decided to weigh in. My daughter absolutely loves their food, so one of us in the party was very happy when we stopped by here awhile ago. However, the rest of us found the food very disappointing. Does "upscale" mean that fajitas come with all vegetables and almost no protein? I've had bland & boring Mexican food before, but this was revolting and yet extremely overpriced. The prices are much higher than average and, honestly, I don't know if they know what kind of food they're trying to serve. I guess a hipster twist on Mexican? Doesn't seem authentic or boringly-American. I'd have been content with either. read more

Second time being there. Amazing food. One bartender made me a great drink so I requested the same drink again but a different bartender made it and it sucked lol The floor is very slippity. I kept slipping and about to fall every time I walked. I go in, sit and don't get up till is time to leave. Then I walk my way out slipping and holding on to my hubby's arm for dear life. Stay away from this place. Held a 40th birthday party here and dropped over $4k. Service was really slow and food was very mediocre. Service was so slow that in fact we had to go to the main bar to get our own drinks. So then they wanted to limit consumption because we were forced to go to the bar. The margaritas were average. We ordered the chicken tortilla soup. It was a creamer version than what we have ordered from other restaurants. You add your own tortilla chips, peppers, cheese, and avocado. We enjoy our soup when the ingredients are cooked and blended with flavos of the soup before beginning served. I had the chicken fajita. There were WAY too many onions. The taste of the fajita was fine , if you subtracted a plate full of nion. I had a sliver of red and green pepper for the whole dish. My boyfriend had the chorizo enchiladas. He expected more spice and uniqueness. This dish feel short. read more

So disappointed. Its beautiful in presentation, the service excellent and drinks pricy but good. The food was awful. Being from California and traveling all over Mexico, and the world, this food wasn't even close to authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately we sent everything back and refused to eat all our dishes. Even all the salsas which were so sweet I had them removed immediately. We were asking for limes and jalapeños to try and add flavor to everything. It's a shame we found nothing but a $6 piece of street corn that was edible. If you are looking for Mexican food, this isn't it! read more

On a recent visit to Temazcal, we were seated promptly, the only time we were shown any attention. We sat for 15 minutes while servers passed our table. We were never greeted. After 15 minutes, we chose to leave. We spoke to a hostess who noted that she saw us waiting. Since she clearly did not see a problem, we asked for the manager. She offered an insincere apology and asked if we wanted to stay, saying she'd get someone to wait on us. We had little confidence that service would be acceptable based on theses interactions so we left. We will not return. read more

Drinks were great. Portions for the price were too small. I ordered a spicy shrimp dish, it was basically 6 small shrimp with rice, no veggies, and it was almost 20. Husband ordered a burrito and same issue. The chips and salsa are amazing. Will come back for drinks before a movie but not dinner. read more

I went to dinner her with a group of six friends - on a weekday, and we asked for a quiet table so we could all catch up. The table was great - in the separate front area of the dining room. But, the service was not so great. We sat for at least thirty minutes before our drink order was taken, waited at least another thirty minutes for the drinks (and a few of them were simply glasses of wine requiring no mixing) and once we placed our orders, we waited more than thirty minutes for our meals to be delivered. And they were barely warm, and not very ample portions for the price charged. The steak tacos were mostly shell, a few veggies and a few pieces of protein. Same for the fish tacos, etc. I mentioned the tepid meals to the restaurant manager - he seemed surprised. On another night, I returned with one friend. Food was awful and hardly warm. Have tried three locations with the same results at each. Customers don't seem to be the priority. We love to sit at the bar for great service, but haven't gotten it yet. Staff seems to be more concerned with filling coolers and other tasks unrelated to the to customers than taking care of the customers. There is a disconnect for some reason. Maybe the importance of customers will become apparent as they mature, but based upon our experiences, it's going to take awhile for them to fix it. read more

I'll preface this review by saying I worked in a restaurant as a server and manager and this has to be the worst experience I've had. I've been to Temazcal in the Seaport and in Lynnfield and service has been great. I came to this location to meet my parents at 3PM for an early dinner. It was not busy at all but there were plenty of staff on hand (the staff did not turn over at this time from what I could tell). We ordered drinks and an appetizer (guacamole) and drinks to start. The manager had to drop off the guacamole well after it was ordered. My mother ordered a seltzer with her drink, it never came. When we finished the chips and only half the guacamole, no refill of chips ever came. We would have said something but figured our meals were coming since it was about 45 minutes after we ordered. 30 minutes later our meals still hadn't arrived and we wished we asked for more chips. CiCi did come by to take a 2nd order of drinks and cleared our appetizer plates, but left the half eaten guacamole and salsa for the nonexistent chips. When our meals did come, my mothers steak was semi cold and my fish tacos were clearly sitting under the heat lamp for an extended period of time. The fish was cool and the sauce had started to crust around the edges. The rice was cold and when I asked for a side of double rice instead of beans, I still received beans. CiCi never cleared our empty glasses from our first round of drinks and we had to ask her for water. So at one point, we had a half eaten bowl of guacamole, salsa, empty drink glasses, empty water glasses and our semi warm meals. I wasn't going to write a review because I realize servers can get in the weeds and sometimes the kitchen puts the server in a bad spot. But when CiCi walked by our table and didn't clear any dishes and realizing we were 1 of 2 tables she was responsible for, I feel the need to write something. I'm still a Temazcal fan but we'll make sure it's in the Seaport, Lynnfield, or maybe we'll try Burlington. read more

Food and drinks were good. Service was ok until we received bill. We ordered different priced margaritas priced at $11-13-we had 6 drinks for the table. Bill charged us $17 for EACH drink! When we raised issue to waiter he brought it to his manager. Was gone for 10 minutes and came back and said he took one drink off bill. We then told him he owed us more than that. Seriously do the math! He said he didn't have time to deal with us as he was busy with other tables. Just to not leave him a tip and that should take care of it. SERIOUSLY?? manager never came over and actually took off when he saw us leaving. We will not ever be going back to this place. First and last time here. AWFUL read more

We dined at Temazcal just before Christmas and were excited to try it after being severely disappointed with another Mexican recently opened nearby. The inside looks great and sets a great tone. The food itself was 4+ stars as I really enjoyed it as well as the drinks. The only reason it's a 3 star is due to the service. Our waiter was incredibly aggressive and I believe dishonest or at least deceptive. As we sat down he said something like - I'm just going to bring you over some queso and chips. No mention of ordering yet and I assumed that was included. After the waiter left, I saw queso on the menu and quickly grabbed the waiter and asked if we had just ordered an appetizer and if so, could we cancel and order what we wanted. He said no, too late and we should just take it home and that was it. Of course that was a $10 appetizer we never ordered. We went on to enjoy the meal we actually ordered but the waiter trying to pad the bill really stuck with me. Now we know chips and salsa are included so would not get in that situation but the review stands at 3 stars based on that deception until we go back to see if that was a rogue behavior or the training there. It was four of us ladies that decided only a couple days in advance to try this place; I used Open Table to get us a table on what was a very busy Thur! I showed up early and got a Paloma at the bar, and the bartenders where attentive and made great drinks. The rest of our night went well, starting with the lobster guacamole (fresh made guac and chunks of lobster!) - enough for 4 to share while figuring out dinner. The drinks were good: I could've used a bit more caliente in my En Fuego margarita, but the Primo was raved about by my friends. The waiter Fernando really knew his menu and we were able to get a side of yucca chips to handle the grain-sensitivity at the table. I think the favority meal was Scallops Al Pastor, and I liked how the Chili Relleno was not deep fried and instead baked/broiled. This is much more Mexico City type Mexican and less Tex-Mex, which means I'll be coming back here again! read more

Came in Cinco de Mayo with a reservation. People were nice. Nothing else ran smoothly or pleasantly for our party of six. It took an hour to get a drink. Food took longer and it was sooooo cold!!! Appetizers came out with dinner, also freezing! The poor bus boys were sweating and working their tails off. Most staff appeared to be working, but nothing ran remotely smoothly. Two managers seemed lost as to how to run this establishment. If it was insanely busy, this review wouldn't be necessary, but it was DEAD for cinco and the entire experience stunk. This was my first time coming to Temazcal after a glowing recommendation and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the mixed fajita entree with chicken and shrimp - the chicken was half charcoal. I let my server know and the kitchen remade it for me and it somehow was even worse. The remade entree tasted like it was burnt and I couldn't even enjoy the vegetables. Temazcal Tequila Cantina has very fast service, and the waiters are really friendly. We loved the bean dip it was amazing. And no words to describe how great the enchiladas were. When we ordered our drinks we did receive a sprite that was flat, but they swapped it out right away. We had an amazing time here and I would strongly recommend it. By the way I would recommend getting the virgin pina colada and Dad says the margaritas, were perfect! read more

This place has gone down hill over the years. My dining experience last night was bad enough to write a review about it. They only had one bartender for the first half of the night on Cinco de Mayo which resulted in some seriously slow drink service. It took us 30 minutes to get our drinks each time. The server was okay but it was the manager who really was awful at his job. My husband ordered Don Julio 1942 and when it came 30 minutes later, it was melted on ice and definitely not the tequila he ordered. It was clear! He drinks it often enough to know it didn't look right, and when he tasted it, he knew it wasn't the same tequila. He asked the server if he could get a new one and out of nowhere, the manager came out and said what's the problem. The server explained the situation and he said "I can assure you it's 1942." After some unpleasant exchanges, he reluctantly took the drink away TO THE KITCHEN! Sketchy. We were shocked by the customer service, and then 15 minutes later the server came back to tell us that was the last of the Don Julio! Needless to say, it was a scam and it was never the correct tequila in the first place. We saw that same manager walking around delivering incorrect food orders to people constantly just to take them back to the kitchen. Also odd. Needless to say, safe yourself the headache and don't go here. read more
