Our friend Pablo says that J&W Lumber is the way Home Depot and Lowe's used to be. It's a real lumber yard. They had what I was looking for when all of my normal haunts in LA County didn't. It was worth the two hour drive (one way) to get it. However, they no longer will "rip" the wood for you. Also when I arrived too late on a Saturday and left a voice message, someone was kind enough to return my call. I was there about 3 hours.
