They've always been our go-to for hard to find things. We've had screens made by them and their screen guy does a great job.ñ and he's very friendly and always helpful. We have always appreciated it for being an independent (non big corp.) store and have intentionally supported it for that reason. The people are very nice and helpful. But today was unacceptable. My husband was in there buying a part and needed to use the restroom (he is on chemo for pancreatic cancer and has "emergency" moments, this was one of those.) He asked to use the restroom and was told it was locked and to ask the owner, which he did. The owner RUDELY refused and told him to go to the gas station. My husband pleaded with him and told him the situation but the OWNER still flatly refused. BTW, he finally used the excuse that the toilet was broken but the employees had said it was closed due to ADA compliance issues. This is unacceptable for an emergency situation. read more

My husband & I went here on August 1 and spotted a yard person who was very friendly and helpful, regardless of our communication differences (he didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish). My husband showed him that he was looking for "scrap pieces" of wood, cut offs left behind from wood that had already been paid for once, by another customer. When he was taken to this pile, my husband found a few pieces and asked the guy how much, the guy kept telling him poquito and showing him with finger gestures as very little. So my husband figured out what pieces he could make work as blocks for under a car, then the yard person and him went to find someone to give my husband a price. An older Hispanic man, that we think normally works in the office on the phones, strutted out of the office like he owned the place, looked at the scrap pieces, looked at my husband and said that it would be $45. My husband nearly fell over. It was like he was quoting prices for brand new lumber, not scrap cut offs. My husband tried to reason with him several times, but he wouldn't budge. So after all the time spent selecting the pieces that would work, under the premise of poquito, this man would rather have us leave with nothing and make nothing, holding firm on trying to get nearly full price, so we left and went to see what Lowes had. Once there we bought a 6 x 6 x 8 piece of un-weathered brand new lumber (exactly what he needed) for $47.75. The guy at C&E obviously just wanted to play hardball. Which turned out fine for us, where in the end C&E made a customer very unhappy and sent us to their competitor. In the future, when we get ready to remodel or for any other projects, C&E will not be the place where we shop. That guy is definitely doing the owners of C&E a disservice by playing hardball on reselling SCRAP PIECES, instead of working with a customer, who came to you in the first place, when he had many other options. This is the only local hardware store. I like to run here if I just need a screw or one thing. There is one employee. Black slicked hair and tattoos on his neck. He's weird and creepy. Not helpful. As he was walking me to the back to get a bag of gravel he first commented on my body. "You look like you work out" and then "you look like you do Kung foo." Creepy, racist, and weird. I wish I could give no stars!!! So I go buy a spray stick and I noticed it was probably broken but I took it to try it out any way . So prior to buying it I pointed that out to the manager and he said if it doesn't work bring it back... so I proceeded to buying it cash and sure enough I tried it out and it didn't work so I immediately went back and asked for my refund!! Well the short lady at the register gave my receipt back with no cash and I stood there waiting for my cash back... after I seen she wasn't giving me cash I then asked about my refund where she told me it's back on my credit card!!!! Then I asked her I paid cash what credit card and she got a major attitude with me !!! Then I asked what credit card did you refund and she called me a DICK right in front of her manager!!!!!! Wow!!! This place is VASTLY SUPERIOR to the big box stores (At HD & Lowe's - impossible to find an employee to help you!). Having a local lumber yard and hardware store is awesome. Even though I drive all the way from Temecula you can't beat the service and selection. The selection is of products are solid as you are not goi g to find the " cheap " Chinese crap here. The wood and species collection is awesome and if c and e doesn't have it they can get it with in days not months. Also if you need specialty cuts or a cut at all they can do it and you don't have to call some one to get special service. There is no grade 3 wood going on here. After 3 generations there is something to be said about local service. The big box stores can't compete. BUY LOCAL! read more

Like this place before pandemic for Baltic plywood I come 3 or 4 times they never charge me for help cutting to be fit in my car.since pandemic I call every to month to check if they have in stock for the Baltic plywood and never got replies. Couple weeks ago. I come to check and finally found in the store but they charge for cut $5 each that so ridiculous. I don't ask for any specific size just for fit to my car I gonna buy what ever they have in stock like 10 pieces that time I even need check my self how many they have in stock in the other room. Not too sure why they have such a high average review. I went it was completely unsatisfied by the lack of effort by everyone there. I came back here to see if i was just a one off but it seems like a few others felt the same way and i still was considering giving them a second chance. My experience, employees at C&E Lumber are helpful and friendly. They cut my wood to order and made sure there was no waste. Allowed me to marry up 2 orders into a single delivery. Loss of 1 star because order was originally delivered on wrong date and not cut. However, they realized the error and took wood back, cut it and delivered on correct date. In addition, I questioned their delivery driver about something on my order. When he arrived back at lumber yard he IMMEDIATELY investigated for me and called back addressing my question. Summary is, besides the delivery error, CE Lumber made good on all their agreements and delivered a quality product and addressed all my concerns. read more

Even though it was a few minutes closing time (4pm on Saturday) these guys made sure they helped me find what I needed to complete my project. They even let me use their hacksaw in the back because I needed to cut the bolts I bought here the week prior. For my project I needed some cabinet handles and knobs.
