I decided to come to Ten-O-Six because of the positive reviews on Yelp. I had no idea it was a carryout place but the owner suggested I go to a wine shop two doors down to eat my food. There were others in here so I figured it would work. The fish and chips were amazing-the best I've ever had! There were two general size portions of fish, which were slightly breaded and seasoned. The flavor of the fish came through and not just the breading. The proprietor of the restaurant was so kind, and even brought my food from his place two doors down to the wine shop where I ate. We were pleasantly surprised by Ten O Six. Having lived in Santa Fe, NM, we are often disappointed by breakfast burritos but TenOSix really brought their game. The options and combinations possible were plentiful and the ingredient flavors came through. I added bacon to their Beach Nourishment (scrambled eggs, pico, hash browns, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms, all sauteed and topped with cheddar/jack cheese wrapped in a 12" flour tortilla). It was enough for two breakfasts and needed two hands to hold! The bacon was firmly cooked (thick so it was not brittle and flakey) so it still had texture and a good mouth feel. One option that I wish they had is roasted green chili. The fries were a nice portion of skin-on 1/4" fried cooked in what tasted like peanut oil. They could have been crispier but they tasted great. The Greek'n Me Out (prosciutto, kalamata olives, banana peppers, roasted red peppers, hash browns on a bed of spinach topped with 2 over easy eggs) was a nice portion for one person. We had the prosciutto on the side as it is a meat that can overwhelm; theirs did not. It was not stringy or paper thin and was cured nicely so it had that slightly sweet and (very subtle) salty flavor prosciutto is known for. The staff was polite and knowledgeable and the woman at the counter was honest about what she had not tried. WOW! Wow is all I can say! We tried this restaurant on a limb, and boy it did not disappoint! The food was so delicious! My husband could not stop raving about his bagel as it was so soft and fresh! We tried Ten O Six for breakfast on warm, late December day. My dining companion tried Porktopia and thought it was excellent, with eggs that were actually cooked over easy. It was served hot and she thought it was very tasty as well as being appropriately named. The serving was enormous; it had to weigh over a pound and was really enough food for two. Breakfast burritos are one of my favorites, so I tried the Beach Road with a side of hash browns. My burrito was hot, flavorful, and really nailed what a breakfast burrito should be. The accompanying salsa was a bit uninspired, but the burrito didn't really need it. The burrito is really a meal in itself, so if I had to do it again I would not order the hash browns. They were made from fresh potatoes and clearly just cooked; they weren't bad but could have benefited from a bit more time on the stove. Ten O Six is really setup for to-go orders. There's no inside dining, but there are covered tables outside. The person that took my order was polite, friendly and helpful. When my order was ready, she made a point of bringing me the bag instead of just calling my name. All in all, I thought Ten O Six was very good and will be our go-to breakfast when we're in KDH. read more

Oh man! Where do I start? My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to grab breakfast and we decided to try Ten O Six. He chose the "Build Your Own Burrito" option and I ordered the Porktopia. We enjoyed our food out on the patio. I'm not sure if that's typical or if it's because of COVID-19, but it was nice. I did see a lot of people who got takeout, so it wasn't super crowded while we ate. Reasonably priced and delicious. Perfect for what we were looking for: a local joint - not a McD's or Sbux - to pop in and out of on a Saturday morning that had quick, simple breakfast fare like breakfast sandwiches, eggs and bacon / sausage with great Yelp ratings and positive reviews. And - oh yes - not break-the-bank prices. We knew that with it being a Saturday morning in the midst of rental check-out time, any inside dining place we chose would likely be crowded - with covid and wanting to social distance appropriately, we didn't want that. So looking through Yelp, we zeroed in on Ten O Six. Pics showed it to be a laid back, carry out joint with an extensive bfast menu and some outside seating. We decided to first drive over to Morning View Coffee House & Roastery - also scoped out through Yelp and close by - to grab our morning lattes (we're admitted coffee snobs lol and wanted to try something local). Morning View did not disappoint! Great choice! Check out my review! Ok, back to Ten O Six. :) As you turn into the parking lot right off Rt 12, the place is tiny and unassuming. The Sanderling Inn this place is not lol. But that's not what we were looking for. If you're looking for fancy or iHop or along the lines of a newly renovated McD's interior, you won't find it here. What you WILL find is a no nonsense, order-at-the-counter carry out spot with decent (not saying gourmet but good down home), made fresh, hot bfast food - bfast sandwiches and bfast burritos (!), hot cakes, french toast (!) and potatoes, bfast meats and more. The menu also has lunch fare - chicken tenders, fried shrimp baskets, salads, burgers, hand cut fries and more that sounded tempting. Yum! The place was not busy when we arrived which was a nice surprise for us. We easily grabbed a small table outside on the small covered shopfront (see pics) - note there is no inside seating at all so you either grab what's available outside or grab and go. They do practice and enforce covid safety measures and take covid precautions - kudos to that! While there, we saw locals come in and out (call ahead it looked like) as well as the out of town rental crowd (families and couples). Not exactly a scenic view from the outside tables looking into the parking lot with cars coming and going but better than nothing. Fast, friendly service. We were pleased with our choice. Decent prices and good value. Everything was hot, fresh and made to order. When we're down again and in the KDH area, we will be back! read more

Breakfast burritos were amazing! The kind where you taste the filling and not the burrito. You know what I mean when all you taste is the wrap (breading) and none of the good stuff inside. This was filled to the brim with amazing eggs and veggies. I had the beach nourishment the hubby had the build your own burrito. Be prepared you'll need napkins cause it's messy with all the gooey fresh goodness but it's so delicious! We sat outside at one of the tables and watched the traffic. Service was great and food was amazing! Not only do they do breakfast but lunch & dinner. The menu looked delicious. Definitely a creative chef and fresh Ingredients. I was not happy with this lunch pick. Employees smoking by the door. Counter help not knowing how much of something comes with a basket. Not getting the full order of shrimp in a basket. Pricing seems in line with other places until you get your order then the shock hits. The only good thing was that the seafood was good. The slaw was the blandest I've ever had. This was a WEIRD experience. Came on a Sunday at noon and there was no one in line just two people eating outside. First thing I asked about was gluten free and the woman at the counter said "I should probably look this up but what is gluten like the flour in bread?" I answered it's in wheat, barley, and rye. Not a big deal because i have to explain my allergy a lot. But when searching for a gf breakfast this place was advertised as having many gf options. She then proceeded to tell me the other day a woman said she made her cry because she was asking about gf and she didn't know the answer. It was a strange conversation and made me uncomfortable. I got the texican bowl with gf bread and man was it not great. The egg white was raw and the potatoes weren't cooked. I barely ate any and threw it away. I wish so much that I could have loved this place because they did have gf bread and maybe other items could be made gf but I'll never know. read more

I was very excited to try this place as the reviews are stellar. Also, who doesn't love a good breakfast joint when you're on vacation. I specifically came here for the biscuits and gravy on a Saturday at 9 am. Unfortunately, I was told at the counter that there were no biscuits and gravy available to order. I was a bit disappointed, but I pivoted to the breakfast burrito options -- no problem. However... While I was waiting for my burrito, another party of two came in and ordered biscuits and gravy and I watched the employee who biscuit-blocked me pull what looked like biscuits from the freezer. As I was leaving, I watched them open up there delicious looking biscuits and gravy and begin to eat them. I completely understand when menu items become unavailable and I even understand if you choose to make it available after the fact, but it is in poor taste to do so when the person who was denied is still standing in the restaurant waiting for the second choice entree. All this said, the burrito was delicious. Just an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

My go to test is ordering a Rueben.. 10 O six passed with flying colors.... Their wraps are large and filling.. A friend had his large family in and Toby and his gang provided all the fixings. i got in on some of the left overs and all were tasty.. Oh... Despite the high reviews which prompted us to try I left disappointed. My family enjoyed their food for what it's worth. My burrito would have been good except the taste of burnt onion tainted it. Service was adequate. There was no ice available for the tea. Ambiance is what you'd expect for a to go / eat on an outside bench type of place. I would have rather cooked at home. Nice location at MP 9 on the beach road. Really good coffee. Lunch sandwiches were good. The Reuben was tasty and correctly prepared. The BLT could have used more T and L. Heck could have had more bacon now that I think about it- two slices didn't cut it. Fries were very good; even after the wait to get them home. Breakfast bowls and burritos had a similar problem. Both had too much moisture. Wife's burrito was too wet and fell apart. And my bowl had a decent sized puddle left after I had finished eating. Kinda odd. read more

This is a tough one.. the food was pretty good for the most part. We took it to go and ate at our beach house. Most of the pancakes were good but there was a charred pancake hidden under the rest of them - there is no way they didn't know it was burnt when they served it! The rest of the food was fine. When we picked everything up, it was slammed busy with one person up front trying to help customers on the register, answering phones, and making drinks - maybe they had an employee call out? The overall cleanliness was startling. It was dirty - not just busy/cluttered but it was yucky like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The floors, counters, walls, etc were all grimy. I stayed at the houses right next to Ten O six. A person that was staying with me said it was amazing..So I walked over to try it out. This place is very small, and very little seating I would get their food to go. She told me they had really great biscuits and gravy. I tried them...they are a good, but not something I would order again. The cashier told me they were known for their burritos. It was mediocre, not enough for me to say ooo this a great burrito. I love OBX, and searching for the best food places is a goal. So that everytime I go...I get the best. This place isn't really on my A list, but maybe on my B list. read more

Be sure and CHECK IN first and you can get a free drink. There is outdoor seating and great, relaxing music playing. I want to stay here all day !! They have a pretty big breakfast menu as well as lunch item and sandwiches. We walked here from the Travelodge. It was about a mile. We shall return next time we visit the OBX.
