We did a pick up order tonight. The food was not that good. We are visiting from out of town and chose this restaurant by their reviews, but we are Japanese decent so we know what the food should taste like. The chicken teriyaki dinner was not good. The chicken was dry and there wasn't any teriyaki sauce on the chicken or with our order. The salad didn't have any dressing on it or with our order. What we didn't quite appreciate was that we ordered the steak and chicken hibachi meal, and the chicken and shrimp meal was brought out. The mushroom soup was not very good at all, the cook on the chicken was skeptical to me, and the veggies were some overdone and some underdone based on really varying cuts. We both really enjoyed the fried rice we requested with the meal. As for the rolls the BMW roll is a fried roll, and it was ok but incredibly fried. Like CRUNCHY fried. We prefer a softer fry. Star of the show for us was the pink lady roll! I am a sucker for a pink soy paper wrapped roll, and the flavor profile was superior to the BMW roll. I visited their Fountains location which is the second to open, the original on the NW side or Maple Grove. The restaurant is long and narrow and dimly lit with a small sushi bar at the front that seats about 8. My visit was on a Monday around 6:30. The restaurant was fairly quiet with only a few patrons. The staff very tentative and kind. We quickly ordered 4 rolls and a couple beverages. The drinks came out fairly quick. Then the wait started. We waited about 45 minutes for our sushi which seemed like a long time considering the amount of staff vs patrons in the restaurant. Outside of the long wait, the sushi was absolutely delicious. They offer a massive menu with dozens of rolls to try from. All the fish was fresh along with the various ingredients used in the individual rolls. I have found they can often have an enormous amount of sauce or rice but these were perfectly balanced. The presentation was also beautiful as the rolls were served in a cool wooden ship. We also ordered a couple pieces of sashimi which were HUGE and delicious. I honestly would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the wait. I had heard some good things about this location of Ten Sushi, so I was excited to try it out. It is in a small strip mall style location at the Fountians in Maple Grove. They have street parking and other parking nearby. They have sushi and other Japanese fare. We decided to sit at the sushi bar area to see chef create all the beautiful sushi dished. I ordered a High Moon in a car and we were brought waters as well. We looked though the menu and ordered four rolls and 2 sashimi pieces. Big Mac Roll: This one was massive and my least favorite out of the bunch. It was almost to hard to eat since it was so huge. It had tempura eel, cucumber inside, and was topped with spicy tuna, avocado and lobster salad made with eel mayo sauce. It was fun to try but, not a roll I personally would be interested in again. Ichiban Roll: This was my absolute favorite! It was Yellowtail, jalapeno, and then on top had spicy lobster, avocado, eel and a miso ponzu sauce. I believe the jalapenos were pickled but still had a little kick to them. This will be my go to sushi roll on every visit. Tuna Amazing Roll: I love Tuna so I really wanted to try this roll. It had Spicy white tuna, spicy tuna, pepper tuna with crunch, avocado, wasabi sauce & eel sauce. It was really good and I would definitely order it again. Rainbow Roll : This is a classic go to sushi roll for me. I get this at every restaurant I go to. They did a good job and I enjoyed it. Fatty Tuna (toro) Sashimi: This was really tasty. The texture is a little tough but I was okay with that. It was 4:50 a piece which is spendy but, I love trying different sashimi. Mochi: we got red bean and green tea. My fav was the red bean. It was plated really cute and it was delish. My only complain is that it took a long time to come out. Longer than any other sushi place I have been to. I understand it is made to order and they have multiple tables ordering but we were one of two other tables and it felt like forever. I have been to the Ten Sushi location on County Road 30 in Maple Grove a number of times however, I had the opportunity to dine at the new location on fountain Hills Drive on grand opening day. There were four of us and each person ordered different items along with a shrimp and tempura appetizer which we all shared The four of us were extremely happy with the quality and quality of the food we received. My local Maple Grove sushi spot. Usually takes about an hour to get delivery from here. The hibachi is what you would expect from most places, the signature roll list is expensive and seems like lots of good options! Prices are good for the maple grove area. They seem to be taking covid really seriously as well which is good to see! We can't wait to be able to eat at this location when covid gets under control. Take out makes it hard to judge a restaurant fully, but we are trying to support our local businesses as much as we can. I'm sure it would be better in person of course, there are occasional hiccups - sometimes they forget sauces, or put way too much.
