Kind of like going to a good friend's house who just happens to be a fantastic masseuse. The massage itself was perfect. I indicated a need for deep pressure, as many places go light. This always has the potential to backfire, though, as "deep pressure" for one part of the body will be different than another. At Cambria Wellness the treatment was intuitively perfect throughout -- adjusting to more intensity on stubborn shoulder muscles, less push on tender calves. I called Lori @ Essential Wellness because, even though there wasn't technically room in my budget, I've been having shoulder discomfort for months that had finally become unbearable. I actually called all over town looking for the best price, and decided to see Lori because I felt confident she could help me with this new condition, due to the conversation we had on the phone. She alluded to her "many years of experience" and "various qualifications" too numerous to tell in the short time we had on the phone. I decided to give her a try. I arrived today and was ushered into her very lovely lobby and then treatment room. I was given a menu of services and we discussed her areas of expertise and my physical condition so that she could customize a massage for my particular body. Although, as I say, I normally seek out deep tissue work, we agreed that a combination of the various modalities she's trained in would be the best approach for my symptoms. I lay down on her memory foam topped table with super lush bedding (wow - so incredibly comfortable!!) and was treated to aromatherapy, hot stones (ok - I get what the hype's all about now!), deep tissue, stretching, accupressure, and even some education about what all she was doing and why. It was a wonderful session and I left feeling rejuvenated and energized on top of my sense of healing, relaxation, relief from my symptoms, and overall well-being. As she said in our session, her focus was on getting my body into balance, and then the body knows what to do from there. I am sad that I won't be able to visit her for more treatments since I'm moving within the week, but she was kind enough to recommend a colleague in my new town who could offer similar treatments.
