You can choose between a regular baked potato or a sweet potato, and they load it up with butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, and plenty of meat on top. We were greeted by Rico, and let me just say -- he's a whole vibe! Super friendly, straightforward, and full of pride about the food (not just because he works there). He helped us figure out what to order for our hungry family of four who were more than ready to see what all the buzz was about -- and oh yes, the hype is REAL. We started with two beef ribs that were ENORMOUS, juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. They came with pickles, onions, and that perfectly toasted golden bread -- plus their house-made BBQ sauce that is so good, I considered dipping everything in it, including my fingers . Then we went all in with the family pack: * 1 lb of moist brisket (melt-in-your-mouth good) * 1/2 lb lean brisket (perfectly seasoned) * 1/2 lb burnt ends (whew, the SMOKINESS!) * Double mac & cheese, crispy fries, and a side of fried okra Every bite felt like a masterpiece -- we later found out the meat is smoked for 16 HOURS. First and foremost I love this place. The staff is amazing and well attended. However this last Tuesday I went and had a meal. I had leftovers as well. The meat did seem 'off' and I was there at a time where not many were in. But after I ate I felt very ill and had to rest. The next day I tried my leftovers and felt exactly the same again. We recently moved to Aubrey and Tender is right down the road from us. We are excited to have BBQ so conveniently located to us! Being the first time here, and also being big Tx BBQ lovers, we wanted to try everything on the menu and we did almost literally (all meats, except beef spare ribs, and all the sides; even got banana pudding as a bonus). Everyone was so nice and helpful (the woman assisting us with taking our order helped us figure out the best way to try it all). They made us feel like family which is so heart warming. We came at an off hour so the dining room did not have a lot of people and we enjoyed a quiet relaxing lunch/dinner. One of the pit masters came to our table to see how we liked everything and stayed to chat with us for quite awhile. He and hubby had several interests in common and so the conversation kept going. The story of how he came to be at Tender was intriguing and we really enjoyed his stories. What a delight to have met him! He said he was in charge of the ribs, beans, and banana pudding. We only had 2 out of the 3 of his menu items (the beans and ribs) so he insisted we take his banana pudding to go. I'm glad for his insistence - it was sooo good! Service and the personnel make this Tender location a 5 star experience, but I do my Yelp rating on the food alone. I gave it 4 stars because it did not quite match my favorite BBQ joint in the area. Of all the meats (sausage, jalapeno sausage, brisket, ribs, turkey, pulled pork) we enjoyed the sausage and ribs the most. Once it was too fast lol they tossed my banana pudding out while I had ran to the restroom w my kiddo but were so sweet they gave me a to go order of it to make up for the mixup. It's located on what can be a very busy and congested road depending on the time you visit, so don't say I didn't warn you! There's construction in the area as well, so maybe traffic will improve when that is complete. Great customer service, big food portions, and good flavor. I ordered a baked potato with brisket and my brother ordered a sausage sandwich. The baked potato was filled to the brim; I still don't know how I finished it all. They weren't stingy with the bbq sauce which is always a good sign, and it tasted so good on the potato. They weren't stingy with the sausage on the sandwich either, and the bread was warm and toasty Texas toast. The Mac and cheese left a bit to be desired, but the bbq beans were very good! Forgot to post my visit on April 8, 2023! This Aubrey, TX location of the Tender Smokehouse chain of 3 diners has quite a following! Nice safe play area for the kids, and a great Kids Menu, families seem to be majority of evening customers. Families with kiddos, or families like adults meeting up, old high school friends, etc. But single pringles are welcome, and I brought my appetite, so that made 2! BBQ Turkey meal with a side of Potato Salad, and a Dos Equis XX brew, and I only delayed to make a short video, which I posted on Google Maps! Great quality of fresh ingredients, good recipes, expert chefs! I have eaten at all 3 Tender BBQ locations, I wish they did a couple of food trucks to showcase their style over on east side of Dallas. I ordered a 2 lb meal for dinner tonight and when I realized I was missing one of my sides I called just with the hopes that maybe I would get a couple dollars refunded.
