After a day of thrifting we were hungry & thirsty. Great HH 2-7 let the #Tiki triathlon continue, dine, drink, shop, tiki hubby and I shared catfish shrimp okra & a side salad. 2 catfish filets in a crispy cornmeal coating and 4 large butterflied shrimp in a crisp very light coating. Not one bad bite and we still took home leftovers, even with sharing. And enjoyed a$6.00 Old Fashioned. Food was good hot and fresh. The place is decorated in a western motif with lots of deer heads watching while you enjoy your meal. Great service by Azra. Will come back again.

Solid place with anold west vibe. CFS is ama, ing. Tender and flavorful. Gravy is smooth and peppery. Server was cute and on point. Definitely will be back.

We have tried food here twice and continue to be disappointed. It is too salty and doesn't seem like it is freshly made. It felt like frozen food which had been reheated. It was edible but not memorable. The atmosphere is very dark

This is a very well decorated rustic bbq place. The brisket was almost dry but the smoke flavor was great! Potato salad very creamy and delicious. Coleslaw was nice and cold and just amount of flavoring. The beans were great! Finished with the peach cobbler. It was room temperature served with cold ice cream so you didn't get the full effect of the cobbler. Super sweet. Will have to come back and try the breakfast.

It was supposed to be onion strings. They looked more like fried shrimp

My steak was delicious and the Service was good, although we did have to request water refills and we were never asked about drink refills. The huge disappointment was the onion strings. See the picture. But only were they not strings they were not crispy or very flavorful. I will not order them again.

We wanted something that is local to the area and prairie house was recommended. The restaurant is typical rustic dining with older tools and signs on the walls. Outside has a selection of old tractors and farm equipment. We had grilled pork chops with cowboy beans and cole slaw and cowboy quesadiilla. Our drinks were a classic margaritas and a Texas Bluebonnet. We enjoyed everything. The margaritas were very well made. We had peach cobbler for dessert. The service was great. Our server answered our questions about the menu and offered suggestions.

I have been to Prairie House many times, and the food and service has always been top notch. I don't know what happened tonight. Service was really slow. I think the server was new and still learning. Everyone needs and deserves an opportunity to learn. She was very nice. Once the dinners arrived, my steak was severally burnt. I took two bites, and was done. Every bite tasted like ash smells. I like my steaks medium, pink center but not bloody. I could not eat the steak. The food is the reason for the 2-star review.

I've been coming here since I was a child. It's still a staple with my parents, even now with me in my 30s. The fire kissed steaks are delicious, but the catfish is the stand-by for us, whether fried or grilled. I miss the days of the caddy for the baked potato toppings, but you can't have it all! Gotta be my favorite house salad at any restaurant so get. So glad this place is still around after all these years!

We eat here once every week. The food is GOOD but I wouldn't say outstanding. The value for the $ is on point though. Haven't had anything I wouldn't order again. All of the servers are amazing. The ambiance can be hit or miss in my opinion. There are three sections to the establishment. The "door" room on the West, the middle section and the saloon on the East. Ask to sit in the saloon or the middle section. We aren't fans of the door room. If you haven't been, you must give it a try.

Instead of trying to do too many things well, the restaurant has a few really good choices. At the table of six where I was sitting, we had burgers, steak, lamb chops, and I had Seabass. Plenty of different vegetables for sides and everyone satisfied. Not particularly stuffed, which isn't a bad thing. The location didn't seem conducive to big parties and even finding seating for our group of six seemed intrusive to the flow in the restaurant. Grace, our server, did a fantastic job of greeting our table, ensuring that we were well informed about the specials, and also ensured that we didn't miss the opportunity to order some happy hour drinks and appetizers before 6 o'clock rolled around. The restaurant was practically empty, so we sat in the bar/lounge area. The host and other staff were friendly. Our waiter came off a little smug at first and barely cracked a smile. He honestly seemed a bit annoyed that he had to wait on us, which felt very unfriendly. My friend managed to get him to loosen up a bit as the night went on though, so maybe that's just his personality. To his credit, he was very informative when it came to the main course options. The lighting was dim and intimate. Ambiance was simple and modern. I ordered the sea bass and my friend ordered the beef Wellington. Honestly, after tasting my fish, he ended up enjoying my sea bass more than his own dish. The sea bass was like butter, just as the waiter described it. If fish could fall off the bone, this one would have. It came with rice, cashews, and a ginger miso sauce. The cashews added a really nice crunch and texture and the flavors worked really well together. I thoroughly enjoyed it as b the only downside was the portion size. Like a lot of nicer restaurants, you get one small piece of fish... about the size of my pinky finger. My friend's beef Wellington, on the other hand, was just okay. He didn't say it was bad, but it definitely didn't stand out, especially compared to the sea bass. We also ordered potatoes as a side and the white truffle Caesar salad. The salad was good and the truffle flavor wasn't overpowering, which I appreciated. The potatoes were solid too and paired well with the meal. Dessert, unfortunately, was not it! We ordered the Wicked Sundae. Our waiter had actually recommended the banana pudding or the chocolate tart, but we decided to try something else. We probably should've taken his advice. The sundae tasted mostly like ice cream and was missing the main part of the dish -- the brownie. Nothing to run home about, and it also happened to be the most expensive dessert on the menu. Definitely not worth it.
