Coming from the East, this welcome center is pretty much the end of the curving mountain roads. I really wanted to get out of the mountains before dark but the Sun didn't cooperate and here we are. Unfortunately, they have posted "Two hour limit" signs so I used the restroom, checked out the visitors center, and headed onwards. It's a nice rest area if you're not looking to do more than stretch your legs and maybe get a quick snooze but nothing longer than that. Tennessee knows how to welcome people. Sometimes you come across a rest stop that makes you want to linger; spending time soaking up the scenery, walking the paths and enjoying the surroundings. The Tennessee Welcome Center, coming into the state from the east, is a picturesque, well-maintained center with all the touristy info you'd need, a person staffing the desk providing even more information, and a room of vending machines to keep you caffeinated and sugared. We arrived around 1:40pm on a Sunday afternoon to use the restroom. We were on our way to Dollywood from NC. The facilities were clean and it wasn't too busy. Outside of using the restroom, we took a couple pictures in front of the Tennessee sign and browsed but that was it. It was a quick pit stop. Extra clean. Extra easy on and off the interstate. Brochures for everything you could possibly do here in Tennessee. Signs to not walk dogs in picnic area, but kinda hard not to when it is late and dark and we 100% pick up, so walk we did. Not feeling up to strolling leisurely at night, no my day to walk about looking for Fido's potty destination. read more

Stopped at the welcome center along the way to pigeon forge and it was surprising super nice! It was very clean, had lots of attraction pamphlets and the venting machines were in there own room and it was so clean and so many options from drinks, snacks and on the road needs like headache medicine and more. There are bench's outside and lots of parking spots. If you are on your way heading down through this area this is a good place to stop and rest and get recharged up. read more

The Tennessee Welcome Center along I-40 West is located about 10 miles after entering into the state from North Carolina. This is primarily due to being in the mountains with lots of turns and hills as you travel. This welcome center is not open to trucks. Our visit here was on August 3, 2018. This welcome center is like an oasis in the middle of the mountains and forest. This place is easy to get in and out of. There is a bit of a hill to get to the building, but it isn't too bad. There are stairs, but there is a handicap accessible route to get up there. There's some neat stuff to see outside at this location as well. They have covered picnic tables, and a nice amount of open space. You can even see the mountains across the interstate. There is a separate building for vending, which had a good selection of food and drinks. Once inside, this place is just stunning. It's one of the better welcome centers I have been to in any of my travels over the years. There are staff members there ready to assist you (they are available daily from 8 am to 6 pm). They will give you coupon books, brochures, etc. and will help answer any questions that you may have about the state. The hospitality was great. They even have lots of seating inside, as well as rockers to just relax for a little while on the porch. Just don't stay too long since parking is limited to two hours. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, this welcome center was definitely a highlight. The weather there was just breaking from rain that we went through while in Asheville, NC. The staff here are great to talk to and they like to get to know you as well. It really felt like coming home visiting here. If your travels take you this way, you definitely need to stop in. They are open 24 hours a day, so there's no excuse to not stop. read more

Easy stop off of I-40 This is one of the Tennessee visitors centers. This site is about 3 miles in when traveling on I-40 out of North Carolina and into Tennessee. Like many of roadside stops it is designed to be able to pull directly off the road and into the parking lot. There is one main building painted grey up a hill from the parking lot. It looks like an old log cabin complete with rocking chairs on the front patio of the structure. Inside is a dark tile floor and wood on the desk facing the door. There appears to be plenty of parking. The main building is up a flight of stairs and a ramp. There is a person to greet you in the center room of this main building. As you enter the building, to the left are the restrooms and to the right, there is a room for informational brochures. The restrooms are a little dated but nice. The staff was very friendly and had plenty of information about the local area. It was a very easy and pleasant stop and I highly recommend it for visitors needing a rest stop or some information on the sites to see in the state. read more

Welcome to Tennessee!!!! Very nice rest stop/welcome center. Clean restrooms. Lots of steps to climb to get to the restrooms though. They do have a handicap ramp- Lots of information in here. Maps. Discount coupon books for hotels etc. Seperate building has vending machines. The main building has the cutest front porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the views and to just get out if your vehicle for awhile and relax. One of the best stops I have been to. As far as Welcome Center's go, this one is one that I get excited to stop at. Upon driving home just the look of the center is awesome! Park... take a couple of photos with the Welcome to Tennessee and walk upstairs to the center. Pick up tons (and if your like me... TONS!) of coupon books. There are also rocking chairs and some history to read up on. A very nice welcome center that is a must stop! read more
