I received a brand new unstrung Wilson Clash 98 on Friday afternoon and had a match the next day. I wanted to use the Clash instead of my old Babolat Aero with dead strings so I went to my usual pro shop for the string job. Unfortunately, the shop was backed up until Tuesday. I found Anh Tuan on Yelp and gave him a call. I asked if he could get it done by noon the next day and he said, "Drop off the racquet TONIGHT and I could do it in about 30 MINUTES." He texted me his address and I drove to his place after work (he was less than 10 minutes away). When I arrived, I gave him the racquet and strings, told him what tension I wanted, and he immediately got to work. I had never actually seen a string job in person before and it was a treat to see him do his magic. We chatted while he was working the string machine and I learned he's been doing this since at least college. Interesting guy and a true master at his craft. The whole thing took about 20-30 minutes. I used the Clash in a Bo5 match the next day and it felt good from the get-go. I lost the match but I can't blame the racquet or strings for that.
