I've been coming here for years and they always did what's right by the customer. Today I came and they clearly had marked gloves priced at 30 dollars on the stand. So I grabbed a pair to take to the front to pay for them. When I got to the front they scanned the tag and it was priced higher. I took the manager to the specific area and pointed out all the gloves and the pricing that was showed and he refused to price match their own pricing. Terrible customer service. Whoever the guy was with dirty brown hair and a pony tail should take a lesson on taking care of your customers, especially with all the different ways people can buy things online. Went to buy an advertised grill and was hoping to see it on display before buying. Since there wasn't one on display I asked if we could open the box. The person helping looked uncomfortable, so I asked what their return policy was and he said "90 days even if the box is open." So if I buy it and open in the parking lot and don't like it I could return it no question asked which makes no sense. He agreed so he said let me check with my manager first. All I did was exchange the same pair of shoes, which were bought the day before, for a different size. There was a 20% coupon used the day before, but the clerk did not notice and said I needed to pay the difference. I feel he should have been more aware of my purchase by looking closely at my receipt. He had to call a manager to ask what he should do which ended up being fine. Also, I noticed that the clerk checked to make sure the size of my new shoes correlated with the box, but he did not even put the shoes back in neatly as the lid was not fully closed. When all was settled with the return, the clerk did not even put my shoes in the bag I brought my return in. I had to put it in the bag and that's when I noticed the lid wasn't closed properly because of how he sloppily put them back in after checking the size. I didn't complain, but simple customer service is putting products in the bag for the shopper. He just seemed young and inexperienced. Train them better Dicks. read more

Your service I came in here for a return that I had gotten a Stanley cup from my sister for Christmas. I just came back from a trip from Texas opened up the box and thought I don't know if I'm gonna like this straw, so without thinking, I put water in it and then I went to answer my phone pop the little straw thing open tipped it over and I thought no I don't like it so I called the store and they told me as long as I had my sister's phone number or they can look her up in the computer and they did and they said yeah no problem bring it down. We can do an exchange so I came down here went to the cashier gave it to the cashier whose name is PENNA. And he opened up the Stanley and he said absolutely not. You've used this and I said I have not used it at all. I put water in it because I wanted to test the straw. I'm not used to these kind of straws. He says well absolutely not you used it and I kept saying I did not use it and so he called his manager which her name is Ashley. She never came to the front to talk to me or look at the Stanley and he kept telling her it's used it's used and I kept saying it is not used. I did not use it so she told him no and I said why doesn't she come up here so I can talk to her and she can look at it herself and he didn't he goes because I'm talking to her through the mic on my ear and I said well she's a manager. She needs to come up here so I stood there for 20 minutes going back-and-forth and nobody showed up. I think this is a poor excuse. Staff & Customer service is horrible! This experience is across days so it's not review based on one time visit. We came to buy a bike for our kid on a weekday evening around 6pm, spent 30 min looking and making sure the bike fits the size & need. When we told them to check it out, they said there Bike person (Richard) went on break and will be back in 45 min. Without him (Richard) they cannot sell the bike. Asked us to come the next day. We understand, so we put the bike on hold, for faster process the next day, loaded the kids back in the car and left. We (with kids) went the next day at around 10:30 AM, and asked them if we can buy the bike, pointed at the bike on hold from the previous day. The front desk said the guy (Richard) is now on break and will be back in 45 min and they cannot sell us the bike without him until 11:15. The manager didn't even have courtesy to even come and talk, instead told the front desk people on their ear walkie-talkie. ARE YOU SERIOUS!! We are BUYING the bike and the store is not able to sell it. If one person's schedule is a constraint, then COMMUNICATE in advance specially when you know the bike has been put on hold! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer experience. Tip for the store: May be ask corporate to do some customer service training on customer service and management. Okay so, I've embarrassingly been here like 47 times cause I'm a degen new golfer. Every single time I've been here the staff has been hilariously accommodating and just really kind. The security guard in the front greeted me and complimented my jacket on the way out. I've gotten a few clubs regripped and the staff is so chill and helpful as it was my first time getting a regripping. Now the experience that spurred me to write this review was an experience with Caitlyn. I told Caitlyn I bought a callaway bag in early November that eventually had a torn zipper, but lost the receipt and she kindly looked up my number and painstakingly found the transaction associated with the bag and allowed me to do an exchange right there at the store for the same bag. It honestly was just one of those moments were you feel like you're kind of out of luck and stuck with the product you bought but she was just like "nah we got you" and I am STOKED now. We purchased two treadmills at DICK,S in Huntington Beach 10 days ago!! The store itself is a "mixed bag" of competence and utter INCOMPETENCE! Some of the salespeople are NOT at all interested in helping customers and act like the customer is a real nuisance. We eventually lucked out with a real gem of a guy, Brian Kessler, who really helped us. If you venture into DICK'S ask for "Brian." The MAJOR PROBLEM with DICK'S is their irresponsible, incompetent, and uncommunicative DELIVERY SERVICE. After we specified a necessary AM time slot on any day, prior to 1:00 PM, their delivery service "secretively" changed our time to 2:00 to 5:00 PM.--No call. no consent, no notification of any type!! So we were caught-- completely stuck off guard! When we complained to the manager at DICK'S they said they have "no responsibility" and "no control" of a 3rd party company. So if they want to stay in business, they NEED TO EMPLOY ANOTHER DELIVERY SERVICE ! read more

Tried to give my money to dicks today. Mid day on a Monday. Very few shoppers - plenty of associates working. Had to walk the entire store for someone to open a dressing room. When sizes didn't fit, door closed behind me so when I get new sizes - can't find anyone again. Ask multiple people for help "they will get someone" pushed button for help. Once in a while, I stroll in when I need to try something on, need something in a hurry or have a gift card. I was in need of some hiking boots for my upcoming Japan trip and some workout tools that I needed to sample so I came to one of. The few stores left in HB. Big 5 has such a tiny store and horrible selection but Dick's is a pretty nice alternative. The store is laid out well, the employees in the shoe department were helpful and the prices were pretty competitive. Nothing amazing, but fair. I found a couple of items much cheaper online but my Merrill boots were the same price as online and I was able to try them on and go home with them. Not a bad store. read more

The problem with this company, not their employees (they all seemed to do me fine the few times I've been here) The problem is with the company. My last folly was with a "high end" tent purchase (I am a long time, experienced non-car camper so I know what im doing) I figured hey, lets treat myself to a nice tent. The problem is this place likes to stock the most expensive gear, but that doesn't mean its actually GOOD. The tent failed in the middle of the night in 10mph sustained winds, which is mild (trip ruined) They did accept the return and refund without issue. Doing a little research, there is good quality/expensive gear, and there is "looks good on instagram" gear. Dicks likes to carry the latter. This isn't my first experience with them on something like this. They suck. The end. read more
