My favorite sushi joint! Love grabbing stuff to go. Super friendly staff also. Always ready within minutes.

I dropped in to this restaurant for lunch one day after shopping nearby. What a nice surprise. The service was friendly and the waiter was very attentive. I ordered the hibachi vegetable fried rice and the Sushi lunch special. This was too much food and i had to take the rice home with me. The sushi lunch special was fresh and very tasty. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

Their sushi is delicious and looks great every time I've eaten here, but my only criticism is how tightly the sushi is rolled. Returned here last week after a few years of being in Baton Rouge and I've always had the same issue - the pieces fall apart too easily. I'm no newbie to sushi so it's frustrating when the pieces fall apart between plate to mouth so often. Whether this means it's not rolled tight enough or they're offering you so much inside the roll that it can't take it, I'm not sure. Good looks, great taste, just roll them tighter, please!

I've been coming here for a while and just never posted a review on it. I haven't dined in recently, but I do order takeout and it's pretty good. I come here for basic sushi rolls and a few of their special ones. They used to do a happy hour with certain rolls on there for like $3.25-3.50 from what I can remember, but they stopped doing it because people would come in and get a table, order a lot, barely eat and take the rest to go. Issue with this is that servers weren't getting tips. I know this because a former server is a customer that dines in at my old workplace. Sucks they took it away, but I can also see why. My order is always right and comes with all the sauces on the side if they're included on the roll which I like because I know of a few places that'll put the sauces on the roll and it just becomes a soggy mess. Some of my favorite rolls are crunchy, spicy tuna, metairie, sexiest man and tuna lovers. Their crunchy flakes that come in the crunchy roll are ACTUALLY crunchy. I've had it at several places where the flakes just seemed soggy. And that's when I dine in too. I'll still have crunchy flakes from here with takeout so that's a plus. Never had an issue with fish not tasting fresh or too "fishy". When I picked up my to go order today, I walked in and there was no host. I just walked to the bar and waited for someone to come. I believe there was only one lady running the whole restaurant besides the sushi chefs. She was assisting customers picking up or placing to go orders, putting in orders from Waitr app, answering phone to go's, AND waiting tables. I didn't see any other servers or workers in the restaurant besides her. I assume she was waiting tables too because customers approached her saying they were ready to pay. I'm not sure why there wasn't more workers, but that tells me service may have gone downhill. I placed my order and waited a good bit to go and pick it up, but when I got there it wasn't ready yet. Process took a little over an hour. Overall, it's a decent sushi spot. If you're someone that likes basic rolls, this would get the job done for you. If you're looking for good quality fish and specialty items/rolls, there's definitely better options out there.

TASTES STALE& OLD- ordered off from a delivery app and though it wasn't their fault after 2 hours, whoever answered their phone provided little help and wouldn't cancel the order for me "until I talked to Waitr". when it finally arrived(warm) the crunchy wasn't too bad but didn't at all taste fresh-actually it was pretty unappetizing & I couldn't even finish the Philadelphia roll! With 3 stars I should've known better. Other reviews say it doesn't taste fresh and I AGREE. Back to tsunami!!

This is my favorite spot when I want to grab some fresh sushi. Literally the absolute best sushi. The green mussels was a 5/10. It was good but not my favorite, had a mayo tasting sauce on top. Everything else was perfect

Tennou is a great place to get your sushi fix. The west bank has several great lunch spots, but I was in the mood for something different. A friend recommended Tennou which turned into a great meal. The restaurant has a casual vibe with booths along the wall and tables in the center. The ambiance may have been casual, but the food was very good. We started with an order of salmon sashimi. It was excellent. The salmon was obviously fresh and of very high quality with no obvious "fishy" taste. I have never had salmon sashimi before today, but it may be my new favorite. We also ordered the dynamite, philly and rainbow rolls. All were fresh, well constructed and tasted great. Service was also very good. We were never left wanting refills, but the server also didn't hover and try and eavesdrop on our conversation. I highly recommend Tennou for lunch.

This particular Monday night we opted to eat a 5:30P dinner in a relatively quiet, open restaurant with Kaitlyn C. as our server. Sake and water for husband and soda for myself all delivered quickly. Also ordered apps at same time explaining husband was famished. Pork gyoza showed up in less than 5 min, and our spring rolls with yummy chili sauce arrived before the gyoza was gone. Husband's Beef Yaki Udon arrived in a reasonable size bowl - no overfilling with too many noodles. I thought the beef was good quality and the cabbage was just the right amount and not too strong. The Crunchy Dynamite Roll w/soy paper and Tsurai Roll (suggested by Kaitlyn when I was overwhelmed with choices) w/sriracha on the side were the last to make it to the table but worth the wait. I'm so glad we asked for a recommendation because otherwise the Tsurai would have been overlooked - and it was the bomb! Not a cheap meal ($71.30 w/tax w/o tip) but eating out generally isn't. With that said, only had a small amount of Udon leftover which means we didn't pay for any wasted food. Plan on eating in again rather than doing take out. Thanks, Kaitlyn C.!

This is the only place I can eat the ginger salad dressing. It's a mild ginger flavor and not full of ginger pulp like some others I've had. I always get extra cucumbers because they're always so crisp and fresh here. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp. It was good per usual and it comes with lots of food. I will say, the fried rice was less flavorful this time but still good. I had more than enough to take home and have another meal. The restaurant is large and is sort of dim, but that works for me. The server was attentive, kept my tea refreshed and I really appreciate her adding ice to the refill without me having to ask. Restaurant was appealing and good service. Howeva - the sushi was just like a C. You know what I'm talking about - that kind of sushi that looks very appealing and (when you first start to eat it) seems pretty decent but then as you go on you realize all the rolls and rice and seaweed have been made like two days before and it's all been sitting around in a refrigerato. And then, when you eat it, it's just sort of rubbery and intractable. It's not really "bad food" or "inedible" but you know that every other bite you eat is slowly eroding your taste for sushi away. You know if you eat too much of it you'll just never eat sushi again because your idea of it has will have become so mediocre. (I will say that the sashimi seemed very good quality aside from the clam, whose rubbery flaps were basically unchewable) Also, they put that abominable Snow Crab Salad in the rolls which is, to me, a low quality disgusting filler that I find insulting. I hate having to comb through the roll list hardly finding any without it. But if you are into that so it be.
