    NOODLE SALAD!!!
    MaryAnn E.

My long-time favorite local sushi joint! I miss the days of the hot towels for your hands upon arrival, but the food is consistently fresh and tasty. The simple noodle salad is a must for me, and the Rainbow roll my go-to if I simply can't decide what I want. It ain't fancy but brings me much joy.

I am a repeat customer! Lets Rock & Roll baby!!! Great service and quick with a pick up window when you got to keep it moving outside the diner.

When I lived in New Orleans, I visited and ordered delivery from Mikomoto regularly. It was fun to take my sushi loving daughter there for lunch when we were in town. We were seated immediately and quickly received our drink orders. We decided on our order and the food came out fast, perfect for those on a lunch break or otherwise needing a quick meal. The miso soup was as expected, and I was thrilled to have two of my old favorites on the menu - the deluxe roll and jalapeño madness. Some nigiri and a snow crab Naruto completed our meal. Everything was fresh and delicious. My only gripe was that the toro should have been trimmed better and had something chewy going on. Overall, the portions were large and prices very reasonable for the quality.

Service was so amazing! The waitress was very friendly and always checked on us. My husband really enjoyed his Katsu and my sushi was amazing! fresh and super tasty. The ambiance is definitely giving hole in the wall, mom & pop type of restaurant, so if you're not looking to dress up and just want some good food, I think this is great spot! Knocked off one star just because the Yakitori was not good

Mikimoto is my go-to spot for sushi on the go! I love being able to order and pick up at their window, and they are always super fast at preparing my orders. I've been doing here for years and have always enjoyed their food quality/pricing as well.

Tuna tataki salad, and noodle salad.

I've been going to this sushi spot for a very, very long time and I leave happy and satisfied each time. While I am sad that they don't deliver to my house anymore (unless you use an overpriced delivery service), I am very happy to go and dine in to enjoy the fresh and tasty sushi options here. The lunch specials are well priced, super fresh and always come with soup and salad. Today I had the tuna tataki salad and shared a rainbow roll and salmon box sushi with my wife who LOVES the noodle salad. Oh, we'll be back!!!

Definitely one of the best sushi stops in New Orleans. My Yelp Bestie put me on to them some years ago and recently I have been visiting them more and more. My go to rolls are the Metairie and Philadelphia Roll with no green onions, and I like to add the eel sauce to both rolls. Every time I visit the rolls and fresh and tasty. On my most recent visit I tried the Deluxe Roll with tempura shrimp and cream cheese inside seaweed and rice with show crab, tuna, salmon, tempura batter, avocado, pink sauce and eel sauce on top DELICIOSO! It is one of their house special rolls and my new favorite. It is a large roll and very filling, enough for two servings. If I was on Mikimoto while in college, I would have been there everyday when I was on a sushi kick, definitely would not have good They have a drive thru window, for those lazy days, and now you can order and pay online! They will definitely have my business. If you are in then Gert Town area, even if you aren't, and you are in the mood for sushi, check them out. Until we meet again.

So I've been coming to Mikimoto for YEARS now and they just never miss!!! Mikimoto is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots in New Orleans. The fish is SO fresh, especially their salmon. Some of my favorite are the fresh salmon sashimi, Tiger Roll, and the fresh salmon roll, but you really can't go wrong with anything! I also love the drive-thru they have, which makes takeout orders super easy and convenient! I will always be a regular at Mikimoto so long as I live in New Orleans.

    Lemons instead of avacado

The dynamite roll was completely inedible -- they loaded it with an absurd amount of wasabi that overpowered everything and burned my mouth out. I'm all for a little heat, but this was just disrespectful. The rainbow roll was also a disappointment: no avocado, which is basically a crime for that kind of roll. It felt dry and incomplete. Only saving grace was the tuna sushi -- it was aight. Not amazing, not terrible. Just... fine. Overall, definitely not a place I'd return to.

The sushi chef talks you through each course after he places it on you platter. I asked if these were supposed to be eaten by hand if you wanted to, he agreed most people traditionally eat these that way. The flavors were buttery and tangy, textures delicate and sometimes a small crunch with fried scallions etc. We had tuna, ocean trout that was Similar to salmon but a different shade of orange, scallops and finished with waygu beef. It was amazing with each course the flavors seem to improve. A great experience, if you are any type of sushi fan or even on the fence, this could easily make you a sushi lover. I give this a complete recommendation. Try Kenji you will be very happy you did. The ambiance was fun also traditional Japanese. I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I agree with the current ratings of 4.7 this place has (as of Feb 2,…read more2025.) To me, based on our experience tonight, it's none other than a super over-hyped sushi restaurant that only has a high end feel to it. Service: was decent. We arrived at the place 11 minutes before our reservation time of 5pm. Since my daughter works in the restaurant industry, as a politeness, we didn't go inside until 4:59pm even though one of the workers came to the door and unlocked it at 4:51pm. Once inside he knew we were the 5pm reservation. He was polite but somehow his whole demeanor lacked friendliness. Menu: Even though the drink menu was an actual physical one, the food menu is online. How strange. After scanning the QR code, we were hoping to see a good selection of food items. But to our surprise, the food menu is/was very small. Actually this place's main thing is nothing but "omakase" where if you choose to order from the a la cart section, the choices are so limited (we were here in town from Denver, CO. After eating some deep-fried stuff for the last few days, we felt that we were truly healthy food or salad depleted; just to clarify, we didn't show up to to this restaurant just to eat salad because after all, this is a sushi restaurant. We love sushi. And yet we were hoping for some decently sized salad. Unfortunately none is/was found on the menu. I even personally asked the guy to see if the sushi chef could whip up something but he gave me a nonchalant no.) We still believed this place could do some magical things so we ordered a bowl of miso soup, oyster tarter (lobster tarter replacement), tuna, salmon and yellowtail nigiris. Miso soup, for the price of $10, was extremely small. Also the entire soup was lukewarm to a point where the center of the small tofu pieces was still cold. Ugh... All the nirigis tasted fresh but I didn't care for the sweet sauce (mainly used for unagi/eel) on the salmon nigiri. Why?? I've never had a salmon nigiri prepared this way.) The only item that was impressive was the oyster tarter (not on the menu as this was the replacement item for the lobster tarter.) This was excellent where we could have easily ordered another one but at this point, we didn't want to spend anymore $$ as all items on the menu are not cheap here. We are a fan of yuzu. The only dessert item (once again, there is only one dessert on the menu) is yuzu tart or something like that. One of the sushi chefs informed us though that the online menu hadn't been quite updated for this so he said it would be a yuzu sponge cake type thing. We decided to give it a try. This, however, failed to impress us either as it was a very much average sponge cake, nothing more at all. We didn't order any drinks besides the water so the final bill was about $75 with some change. Well, tonight's overall experience of ours didn't justify this amount in any way possible. There was another sushi restaurant that had the similar ratings with similar location (when we searched it yesterday.) Maybe we should have chosen that one instead. Disappointed....

We started with cocktails which had fun twists in flavor. We ordered the Omakase and upgrade one fish dish to the Wagu beef ($50). I dug in, forgetting to take a photo. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasty, including some unique ingredients like ginger imported from Japan. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough. If the chef is reading reviews... switch the miso soup with a mini-ramen to give the meal more substance.

The ambience was grown and sexy and definitely gave fine dining. The waitress was pleasant and gave recommendations because I had no idea what to get. We got the bread to start and OMG that bread was delicious! It was buttery, with a honey flavor and 2 spreads to use. I wanted to eat it all but knew I had to eat an actual dish lol. My husband and I shared a small plate-the wagyu tacos. Lets just say I woke up thinking about those tacos I ordered a medium prime rib eye & my husband ordered a medium rare filet. His filet was perfect but my ribeye was overcooked. They made me a new one with no problem & were very apologetic. The new steak was more medium rare than medium but I still ate it and it was good but fatty. We shared the seafood mac & cheese which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. It was a huge portion so we ended up taking some home (didnt last very long after getting home). That being said the next night we tried a different restaurant with great reviews in the same neighborhood. The ambience was great there, but the food did not measure up. We shared the cauliflower starter again as well as a dessert this time - which was something I'd never heard of but incredible some sort of cheesecake that was purple.
