Sea salt white fish sashimi, butter garlic scallops, kimchi udon
    Sa'Rah H.

OMG is all I can say...ok actually there's more. I went to Daiwa with my friend and his daughter after church and we totally pigged out. Since it was my first time and they're regulars, I let them order and they picked all of the best items on the menu. They ordered the shrimp tempura, spicy kimchi udon (my favorite), the butter baked scallop with garlic butter sauce (sooo good), Hamachi Kama( broiled Yellow Tail neck) with white rice and the sea salt white fish sashimi (amazing). I ordered the marine roll just because- everything we had was phenomenal. I was absolutely wowed and I'm now, a life long fan of Daiwa! This was an authentic Japanese experience and I can say that as someone who's been to Japan and had authentic Japanese food. We enjoyed a very calm, clean minimalist setting and food that I'll be thinking about until I can get back to the restaurant for more. My friends new knew our server personally and she provided excellent service. I would 100% recommend Daiwa in Marrero. It was phenomenal.

Daiwa had such fresh sushi and so many different kinds of rolls and sushi to choose from! A friend and I shared the squid steak and it was freshly served as soon as it was made. I ordered two rolls - one was a salmon roll and another was one of their special creations. A friend ordered a crunchy roll with shrimp that was topped of with lemon and it tasted great. Everything was so freshly made. In addition to their numerous sushi roll options, they also have lunch and dinner specials. The menu is huge so I'll definitely be coming back in the future to try some other items as well!

    Great foods

Foods are great, and the drinks are unique with diverse options to choose. Service is good & fast as well. Ambiance is nice, suitable for hanging out with friends, family and dating The cons: expensive than expected

    Yellowtail Jalapeno- better than nobu!

I've been here a few times because it's close to a friends house. It's not aesthetically pleasing by any means and there's always 1-2 gnats flying around every single time I go. The sushi is always tasty though. I really enjoy the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer that they have at this location. (They don't have it at the Metairie location)

The sauce for the Pepper Tuna is amazing!

We came for an early dinner at 4:30 on Saint Patricks day. There were plenty of tables and no wait, but an hour later the tables were filling up. The decor is lovely, creative and tasteful. Everything was spotless and clean. We started with a bottle of Pino Grigio, the edamame and seaweed salad. We are from the west coast and a sauced edamame was something different for us - deep flavor, spicy and so delicious. I could drink it. I suggested to our wonderful server, Josh, that they should make a bloody mary from that sauce recipe. Delicious! Later, we ordered several rolls. The Peppered Tuna, Tsurai Special, Softshell Crab Roll, a Rock & Roll and a Crawfish Roll. All were excellent - fresh, succulent, delightfully crafted and served with care and with pride. Again, the sauces - especially the sauce for the Peppered Tuna and the edamame are worth asking for on the side. We preferred them to the usual soy sauce and wasabi. Altogether, a perfect sushi dinner in a lovely restaurant.

The food is always consistently delicious there. Best Japanese fried rice on the westbank.

Honestly, Daiwa is probably my favorite sushi place on the Westbank just because the quality is their sushi has always been top tier for me. We try to go here every few months just because it's a little out of the way for us but I swear, any time you come here it's always so busy. The time before last that we tried coming to eat here, there was a 45 min wait and we ended up leaving but I still crave Daiwa sushi all the time! The last time we went there, the sushi was a little loose and kept falling apart on me when I picked it up and I didn't love that but the taste makes up for it for me. I always try and get it cut in 8 pieces rather than 6 just because the 6 pieces are so big to eat. I love that they have so many pictures of their sushi on the menu because it's really helpful in figuring out what you want. I actually hosted my bachelorette party in the back with karaoke, which was pretty great! I loved it and I think everyone else did too. Would definitely recommend.

    Ceviche salad.

I have been there two times so far. One time I was with a small group of friends and the other time was with a large group of colleagues (it was actually for an event). I ordered their salad but different kinds for both of my visits - Tuna Tataki and Ceviche salads. They were good! Tuna tataki and sashimi mixed were at a really good portion. The dressing wasn't heavy. I really loved it because I was able to have a better taste of tuna and sashimi.

Restaurant was appealing and good service. Howeva - the sushi was just like a C. You know what I'm talking about - that kind of sushi that looks very appealing and (when you first start to eat it) seems pretty decent but then as you go on you realize all the rolls and rice and seaweed have been made like two days before and it's all been sitting around in a refrigerato. And then, when you eat it, it's just sort of rubbery and intractable. It's not really "bad food" or "inedible" but you know that every other bite you eat is slowly eroding your taste for sushi away. You know if you eat too much of it you'll just never eat sushi again because your idea of it has will have become so mediocre. (I will say that the sashimi seemed very good quality aside from the clam, whose rubbery flaps were basically unchewable) Also, they put that abominable Snow Crab Salad in the rolls which is, to me, a low quality disgusting filler that I find insulting. I hate having to comb through the roll list hardly finding any without it. But if you are into that so it be.

OMG! What a wonderful, unfound tasty place!…read more We visited on 2 consecutive Tuesdays for a early dinner and were seated immediately. Very quiet but with several delivery services picking up to go orders. Server - V - is a delight and was very helpful with the menu, answering questions and making suggestions. First visit included Beef Negamaki - huge serving with lots of green onions and sauce. Yum! Crabstick Tempura, which tasted like I had been searching for since 2015, except it had just a touch more breading which means I won't be ordering it every time. We had the Angry Bird Roll and the FEMA Roll, both with soy paper. We scoffed up those rolls like nobody's business! SUPER fresh tasting. Best we've had since we moved to Louisiana. Quick refills on our drinks and quick check out. Second visit included again the Crabstick Tempura and the Angry Bird Roll, but this time we added the Burning Woman Roll with soy paper and a small chicken fried rice to go. (It was to go because we knew the rolls were huge and we would be totally full.) We did taste the rice before we left, though, and it rocks! And yes, the sushi was amazing and we were full. They have applied for a liquor license, which excites my husband's saki loving husband. If you're nearby, don't be put off by the location. Sushi, noodle salad and more...great comfort food. We found out they relocated to the old Gretna neighborhood near the Courthouse recently so why not see how things are now in their new digs? Walking in, we noticed a big difference. In the previous spot, they were in a strip mall where they were small and intimate. In their new location, they have more space and a separate area with a bar. I think this was previously occupied, but on the eyes it can be a bit confusing. Within minutes, we were ready for ordering. For apps, we both ordered noodle salad, one of our favorite dishes. Sophia said the aftertaste was like mayonaise and I noticed the difference too. Maybe the mix was a little strong, but it was good. For the main course, I ordered baked salmon rolls which consisted of baked salmon fillet wrapped around snow crab filling and we shared fried fish cakes with wasabi sauce for dipping. Everything was delicious and just like previous times after moving away, made us feel like we were back home. However, the reason why the rating was 4 stars was due to the lack of intimacy the new location offered. It looks gorgeous, but again, the presence of intimacy seemed a distant memory. We sat next to a group who was a little loud and inebriated, even though they weren't harming us. A situation like that at the previous location would never happen. Sophia mentioned the same thing too as we left. Would we come back? Yes, but maybe during lunch where it's less people. We'll give them some time in this location.

The Stoplight roll brings just the right amount of heat thanks to the jalapeños, and the fish is incredibly fresh. But the real star for me? The curried dumpling broth.
