Tennyson is the one of the nicest assisted living places in the area IMO. The folks working there are amazing. They are like the folks that work at Disneyland, always friendly and helpful, always in character, never negative. The facility is immaculate. There is a movie room, library, each wing has a sitting room for cards, visitors, TV and a fireplace. There is crown molding and upgraded base molding throughout, it looks like a high end hotel. There is even a bird cage in the lobby with a dozen little exotic birdies flying about. The number of extra activities is off the charts. Singing, bingo, music, movies, ice cream socials, etc. Tennyson, does everything it can to make your aging loved one apart of the human race. Of course it is up to your loved one whether they engage but the staff does everything it can to remove the environmental obstructions. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tennyson Court. After several bad experiences with "five star" rated assisted living facilities, we have finally found someplace that treats my father with the care and respect he deserves. He has been there for several months, and we have absolutely no complaints. The staff is superb - he, and his room, are always clean, fed, etc. Any questions I have had or requests regarding the care of my father have been addressed instantly. They treat him with dignity and respect and, when he is being difficult, they know him and are able to cajole him into what he needs to do. If we cannot see him for a day, we do not worry that he is being taken care of. If anyone is in the process of trying to find a place for mom or dad, I know how difficult it can be, and I recommend you stop in at Tennyson - totally recommend them without any reservation. read more

On a positive note: The buildings and grounds are immaculate and during the summer, my friend and I have enjoyed short walks outside and sitting on the comfy chairs on the porch next to the main entrance. There's free coffee and popcorn at the entrance and the front desk staff is helpful and friendly. The front desk also has sign-up sheets for off-site activities like trips to nearby restaurants and stores and there are daily activities scheduled for residents like listening to music, travelogues, playing games and parties. I find the staff to be extremely responsive to any requests or concerns that my friend or I have (except for the medication issues). For instance, on one occasion, my friend had an "accident" and her bedroom reeked. No sooner had I brought this matter to a staff member's attention then another staff member showed up and cleaned the room. Also, this year's Christmas party for the residents was loads of fun! All of the residents and their families and friends were treated to a delicious dessert buffet and live music. It was great to see some of the residents dancing up a storm and to see so many young children at the party. On a not-so-positive note: In my opinion, my friend appears to be, at times, "drugged into submission," based upon my many observations and conversations with a relative of hers. My friend used to be lively and effervescent; now, she's often a total zombie who sleeps much of the time. While I believe that some of this is due to her age and health status, I also believe another factor is the medications prescribed in response to her aggressive behaviors caused by her dementia and her not wanting to live in a senior care facility. read more

I currently have a loved one in the facility. We have been lied to by the administrator on how many medical care people will be looking after our loved ones. They are suppose to have one nurse and three aids for each housing unit but this is not the case. They get around having the "legal limit" of one nurse day side, and then they say an "Activities" person is considered an aid but when you ask the aid they have no clue that this is a job classification of their jobs. They have been rude to us and do not look upon people that are in the facility. For the amount of money this place charges its way over priced for what you get and its a big joke. They don't even fold laundry and hang up the clothes. read more

My Mother is a current resident in Tennyson Courts assisted living. If it was up to me I would have her transferred to almost anyplace else so fast your head would spin. In the year and a half she has been there we have had frequent issues with both medical care and help with daily living. In the same time they have had three different administrators, with the initial one taking most of the managers with her when she left. The staff turnover issue flows all the way down. Which makes for very poor care. The medical records are all paper instead of electronic, so I've seen the nurses digging through binders and loose paper files trying to find things. Ridiculous. The response to issues has been tepid at best. Don't give your loved one into their care!! read more

My mother fell at Tennyson Court memory care - she broke her hip as a result of the fall and ended up in a skilled nursing facility. No one watched her to make sure she did not fall. No one even bothered to follow up or check on her - the administrator ( no longer at Tennyson) was a cold, defensive person - not suited to working in this type of community. - read more

Lack of caring all around. Called out today to get some information. The receptionist thought she had all the answers, and when I challenged her with another question, I was told she was going to ask for boss. She placed me on hold for close to around ten minutes. At this point I believe she wanted me to hang up. Only for her to pick up the phone, not say hello, and just hang up. So unprofessional! read more

Thankful for finding this location for my dad. I have been pleased with everything and feel he is in a great spot. My siblings and I did our homework and when a decision had to be made we chose Tennyson. I was surprised by some of these reviews because in the past six months, we have had no issues. I have to applaud Tennyson Court on so many levels. My mother suffered from Alzheimer's and when it was time to find a place for her to be safe and happy the family did our due diligence and scoped out the best place for our mom's care. Joel G was correct in his review, the staff is a collection of amazing people. Patient and kind always, dealing with memory care patients, I watched many times as each staff member role-played, morphed into character (pretend son, daughter), and always showed love and respect depending on which client and their mood du jour required to keep them relaxed and happy. The facility is so clean and cheery without that "scent" and sad mood that so many others have. The daily activities are so beautifully planned and well suited to keep the residents feeling part of a group rather than isolated. I know my mom felt loved and special while she was there. Her fingernails, always a sense of pride for her were always manicured and painted, she was treated like the lady she always was. The folks who planned out this facility and the staff they hired are angels on earth. I have never seen such attention to detail to make this place a true home. The staff from reception to the care-givers also showed kindness and understanding to our family with hugs and tears. Amazing place end of story. read more

I completely agree with Barbara O's review.... My dad was at Tennyson, in their memory care unit. My dad suffered from Alzheimers, and if anyone has a loved one that suffers from dementia, or alzheimers, you can relate to the daily struggles these people encounter. My brother and I visited more places than we care to remember looking for a place that we felt comfortable with for my dad. Some assisted living, some full skilled nursing care, all with an underlying specialty in memory care patients. Our initial concerns were the obvious, good care, loving environment, understanding and educated staff, safety. When we visited Tennyson we were immediately impressed. We loved that there were only 12 people in his "house" and they all had their own private space, along with additional large, warm common space. My dad was there for 8 months. In those 8 months, our experience with Tennyson, and its staff was impeccable. They care for each resident, as if they were a member of their own family. We visited my dad, nearly everyday, and no matter what day of the week it was, you saw the same faces of dedicated, and loving staff. Not to say of course, that in each of the specific houses, there werent new faces caring for my dad, but there was always someone familiar, to help, guide, and teach. The management staff, front desk staff,and activities staff were all equally involved in the care of each of the residents. Tennyson also has a nurse on the premises at all times. She, or he, was always up to date on what was happening with my dad, and any and all concerns were brought to our attention. We, like wise, could voice any concerns that we had, in reference to my dad's health, and were always guided appropriately. Toward the end, we had hospice coming in to assist with his care, and during one of the interviews with the hospice nurse, and social worker, they were expressing to me, how impressed they were with Tennyson each time they had come to visit one of their patients. I told her how fortunate we were in finding this place for my dad, that with him being here, it gave us a piece of mind, and comfort that he was being taken care of, and loved .... when we couldnt. She said to me... " This is such a hidden gem... it's like finding a needle in a haystack". I dont think I could have said it better myself!! read more

My family and I cannot say enough positive comments about Tennyson Court. The personal care provided to my family member was the best . I know what I am talking about as a nurse myself and that my family had to transfer him from another facility that was good in some aspects but not at all for personal care. Both Tennyson and the other place were assisted living. A personal care plan was set at the start. I was present with my Uncle to provide comprehensive information so the staff would be aware of his needs. The main aid who was assigned to him was wonderful. She was aware of my Uncles needs, showed compassion, attended to his needs, and provided our family support as well. The nurses were very attentive, knew my Uncles status, kept us informed, and listened and responded to our concerns. His main nurse and the others took care of problems and notified his primary doctor without any prompting notifying us what transpired. This was such a relief to us after pushing and prodding for care that we had to do at other facility. We never had an experience with staff being unkind to my Uncle or our family. EVERYONE from nurses to aides to recreation, administration, and maintenance were caring. Tennyson has social events for families and residents, regular family meetings, to air concerns and ask questions. They have all inclusive price for care. They provide personal alarms for all residents to use when help is needed. It does not have to be an emergency, just need help. They do regular rounds, even during the night. My uncle spent a night on the floor at his previous facility. That place does not do night rounds at all. Our family is very grateful to the care provided to my Uncle by the staff at Tennyson Court before he passed away. They were wonderful to the end and that gave us much comfort. read more

I cannot thank the staff at Tennyson Court enough for the excellent care they give to my mother. She loves living there and enjoys the activities and entertainments. I love that she is happy, we'll cared for, and safe. The administrative staff was wonderful. They answered all of my questions when mom transitioned to Tennyson and put me at ease. We are both so grateful to the staff at Tennyson Court. It is the best place for my mom and I would highly recommend Tennyson Court to anyone looking for an assisted living facility for their loved one. read more

My mother was receiving really good care, we had a few minor concerns but that's to be expected. But there has been a recent change in the administration and things have deteriorated quickly. Staff have told me that they are always short handed, and they work 2-3 double shifts in a row which I can't imagine is good for them and their ability to do their jobs well. One aide complained to me that she dispenses medications in two sections of the community and is very tired. I feel bad for the aides who work really hard, but I'm getting worried that they are going to make a mistake giving my mom her medications. And I didn't realize when we moved her in that it was aides giving her her medications, not a nurse. And now my mom's rent is being increased. It's extremely concerning to now feel my mom is unsafe. I no longer feel comfortable recommending this community and I have started looking for a new place for my mom. read more
