They are like the folks that work at Disneyland, always friendly and helpful, always in character, never negative. The facility is immaculate. There is a movie room, library, each wing has a sitting room for cards, visitors, TV and a fireplace. There is crown molding and upgraded base molding throughout, it looks like a high end hotel. There is even a bird cage in the lobby with a dozen little exotic birdies flying about. The number of extra activities is off the charts. Singing, bingo, music, movies, ice cream socials, etc. Tennyson, does everything it can to make your aging loved one apart of the human race. Of course it is up to your loved one whether they engage but the staff does everything it can to remove the environmental obstructions.

He has been there for several months, and we have absolutely no complaints. The staff is superb - he, and his room, are always clean, fed, etc. Any questions I have had or requests regarding the care of my father have been addressed instantly. They treat him with dignity and respect and, when he is being difficult, they know him and are able to cajole him into what he needs to do. If we cannot see him for a day, we do not worry that he is being taken care of. If anyone is in the process of trying to find a place for mom or dad, I know how difficult it can be, and I recommend you stop in at Tennyson - totally recommend them without any reservation.

Canterbury Woods in Williamsville is a CCRC and serves residents who are totally independent to…read morethose who need Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing or Memory Care. A person must be at least 62 to be accepted and must come in at the Independent level. There are several financial packages available. Whatever the rental cost of their apartment in Independent will be the same cost if the resident requires any of the other services as time goes on. In Independent Living, where I am most familiar, meals are provided in two fine restaurants and a cafe, and weekly cleaning is provided if you want it. Many people compare the living culture here with that of a cruise ship - there is access to a pool with a daily aqua aerobic class; yoga classes, balance and other exercise classes are available as well. There are also art classes; assorted classes in various topics by resident college professors; and to top is off there is a theater where professional and amateur performances are readily presented to the community and residents needn't even going outside. There is also a convenience store manned by volunteers and a Weekly Happy hour with music, wine and snacks. There is so much more! In my opinion after living here for eight years, I think it's a fine place to retire!

My mom has been at Amberleigh in Williamsville, NY for about 4 years now…read more The process of getting the apartment was quite painful as the salesperson at the time was not straight forward and honest with us. The executive director at the time was also pathetic and claimed she reprimanded the salesperson, but you know.... Very fortunately both these ladies were gone soon after mom moved in. I can only speak to the independent living side of the facility. If you are looking for a place for your parents, you are not going to find a better place than Amberleigh. The staff is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about them. Concerned, polite, always willing to be of help, patient, kind and truly have the best interests of the residents at heart. The place is well run and clean. They do their best to engage the residents in various activities, even in these covid times. They are always willing to help and respond quickly should there be a problem or if we need someone to check on mom. It is such a comfort knowing that people who truly care are looking after the residents. They all take their jobs seriously and seriously provide a high level of care to insure residents are safe and well looked after. Management is great and they don't tolerate employees who disrespect residents in any way. If you need a place for a relative or friend, go take a look. Our experience has been wonderful and I can't imagine mom living any place else.

Dear Sonida, I am writing this letter as my mother's power…read moreof attorney and healthcare proxy. I regret to inform you that I have deep concerns regarding my mother's care at The Amberleigh in Williamsville, New York. My mother was an independent living resident at The Amberleigh for a few years until she moved into an assisted living apartment on September 1, 2025. Prior to moving into the assisted living apartment, she received care from an independent contractor to the extent that she needed medication reminders due to memory issues from Alzheimer's, and, as time progressed, she needed help with showering and grooming as well. The additional level of help she was receiving is what led her family to the conclusion that she would be more appropriately served in an assisted living environment. However, the transition from one level was very awkward and lacked professionalism, and representatives at The Amberleigh did not follow appropriate intake procedure and ignored some state guidelines in the process. They even overcharged my mother for rent, and I had to take steps to recover the money. Since the move, my mother has not received the appropriate level of care to meet her needs and administrators at The Amberleigh have not made an adjustment to her care or even performed a follow-up assessment to evaluate her needs in the first place. To avoid writing a novel to explain events over time, I am simply going to list the primary points of my concerns and the concerns of my mother's family. 1. Management at The Amberleigh presented my mother with a contract for her apartment and accommodations in assisted living without first passing that contract along to me (her POA), or either of her two other sons, or her sister (her other healthcare proxy) in spite of the fact they new she had Alzheimer's (the entire reason we moved her to The Amberleigh in the first place was due to her Alzheimer's condition). She was not and is not in a state of mind where she can make these contract-related decisions. To be blunt, your managers at The Amberleigh had a cognitively impaired person sign off on a contract without representation present at the time of signing and without consulting any representation prior to that signing. 2. The Amberleigh did not obtain a written evaluation from my mother's physician as to the specifics of her health 30 days prior to admitting her to assisted living, and they have not obtained one since, which is what NYS regulations require. 3. The Amberleigh did not meet with family members prior to her move into assisted living to discuss my mother's health status and care needs. 4. The Director of Wellness, Michele Cinquino, did not perform a formal assessment of my mother until after she had already moved into her new apartment in assisted living. a. Neither I nor my Aunt, nor any other family member, signed off on the assessment because it was significantly inaccurate, and we asked for another, and the subsequent document presented to us was almost unchanged and still highly inaccurate. b. Michele has not followed up with our subsequent requests for a more accurate evaluation, and she has failed to produce the standard post-intake six-month follow-up evaluation (another violation of NYS regulations). c. My mother will have lived at The Amberleigh for a year at the end of this month without a subsequent formal assessment, and I never signed off on the first one. d. Formal requests through email for a follow-up assessment go unanswered and, consequently, my mother is living according to assisted living standards when she clearly needs enhanced assisted living care, but The Amberleigh will not address this issue. i. She is not receiving help with showering or grooming. ii. She is not receiving help with dressing. iii. She is not receiving help with toileting. iv. She is not receiving appropriate medical assistance consistently, even when The Amberleigh receives a script from my mother's physicians. v. When she is physically ill or requires medical attention, The Amberleigh does not contact family members, and we have found her on multiple occasions to be in need of immediate medical attention. 5. As a result of the poor care my mother has received, over the last several months the family has been pursuing other options at other institutions, and the administration at The Amberleigh has been less than helpful. 6. The Amberleigh has failed to respond to half a dozen attempts at contact by phone, email, and in writing by my mother's long-term care insurance company to connect to a claim and set up a payment plan. a. Consequently, my mother is paying for her stay at The Amberleigh out of her pocket, instead of through her long-term care provider. b. This is costing my mother and our family thousands of unnecessary dollars every single month. For all the reasons I have stated above, I am compelled to say that I have found The Amberleigh to be an ongoing nightmare for our family.

Brompton Heights, in my opinion, is one of the best I have ever walked into. After 40 years as a professional in the medical field, I have seen many many things, both good and bad. I am especially keen to keep an eye out for things that aren't so good in the nursing home industry. My loved one's assisted living journey began at another local facility. Because of the less than good care that was received he moved to Brompton Heights. This is a decision our family will never regret. There was also never a day or even a moment when he or his family was not treated with respect and dignity. He was without a doubt, a member of the Brompton community. He sadly left us on 12/31/24 because of recurrent cancer while under Hospice care. My biggest concern and fear upon learning his cancer had returned was how his pain would be managed. I was truly scared of this unknown. I can now honestly say that there was never a time where his physical or emotional needs were not met within a short period of time I can only speak to the tremendous staff on the North unit but I have no doubt that the South unit demonstrates the same incredible quality of care. Every single person in every single department that met him treated him as he deserved to be treated, as someone who mattered. Almost every single time I walked into the facility I would see a staff member or two, or three gathered with a resident offering comfort and sharing a story or telling jokes I am grateful for the care that my loved one ( and my family members ) received during the time at Brompton. Thank you each and everyone one of you from the bottom of my heart.
