This review is for the salon owner, Valerie. First off, this salon is very hard to get a hold of. They hardly pick up their phone and never call back when you leave a voicemail. It took me days of constantly calling to finally get a hold of someone. Days later, I finally got a hold of the receptionist and asked if I could make an appointment for a haircut with Val. In my previous experiences with Val, she would over book clients during my appointment. She would be so busy going back and forth between me and other clients during my appointment. I thought this was not only unprofessional but unfair for us customers. I wanted her undivided attention for my haircut so I specifically asked the receptionist to book a time where she could give me her full attention. Considering how much I was paying, I thought I would get her full attention. The receptionist said that she wouldn't be busy at 3pm on Thursday so I booked my appointment for then. I got there right on time and as usual, Val didn't seem very enthusiastic or showed any professionalism by properly greeting me. She makes you feel very unwelcome. Anyways, when I got there, she was busy getting her hair blow dried and made one of the other stylist wash my hair while she was getting her own hair done! I'm a hairstylist as well and it's customary to have a consultation with your customer prior to getting started, which Val failed to do. I felt uncomfortable getting my hair washed before Val even got a chance to look at my hair but she kept insisting for the other stylist to wash my hair as if she was in a hurry to get my hair done. I was hoping to show Val how my hair was layered when it was dry so that I could explain to her how exactly I wanted my hair cut. I was afraid to tell her that I rather have her wash my hair because she already looked annoyed. Her assistant even told Val that I specifically requested to have everything done by her but Val still insisted for the other hair stylist to wash my hair. After I got my hair washed, I had to wait on Val again as she was finishing up another clients hair. She asked me how much length I wanted to cut off and I told her that I really loved the way my hair looked and I just want to trim the ends and relayer the face framing layers I already had. She cut off about 1 inch like I asked, finished up the haircut, blow dried my hair and then finished cutting the rest of the layers dry without ever reiterating what I liked. She should've asked me how I wanted my haircut before proceeding to cut it. She gave me the worse haircut I could ask for and fried my hair with the blow dryer. I couldn't tell how uneven and botched my haircut was until the next day when my hair wasn't disguised by the blow out. I was so devastated about my hair. I went back in to see Val the next day to let her know and she didn't even bother to look at my hair. Instead, she told me to come back another day since she was too busy to help me so we scheduled a time for me to go back in a couple days. I realized shortly after making the appt that I was going out of town that day so I tried calling the salon to reschedule and of course, no one picked up my calls. I was so emotionally distressed about my hair and wanted it fixed ASAP so I reached out to Val through text to see if she could help me fix my hair before I left on my trip. She didn't respond so I followed up with her the next day and was appalled by her response. She didn't want to take responsibility for her mistakes and refused to fix my hair. Please refer to the attached photo for her response. I'm a cosmetology student and I got multiple opinions from professional hairstylists at my school who have collectively 60+ years of experience to see if there was any way that my haircut could be fixed. Everyone agreed that my hair was improperly cut and that my hair had been fried. My layers are completed disconnected from the rest of my hair and there is nothing I can do but wait for it to grow out. Please see attached before/after photos for reference. I am still outraged by Val's response and her unwillingness to make things right. Val does not provide good customer service and she certainly does not pay attention to detail when cutting your hair. Probably one of the worst manicures I have ever had! I came in yesterday and already have nail polish peeling off. No I didn't even wash a dish. I spent the day getting pampered so I don't know how I ended up with polish peeling. I knew that the manicurist had done a terrible job but I had another appointment I was running late for and had to go! I was really upset to step out into the light and see what sloppy raggedy edged nails I had. I think that the nail lady was more interested in talking to me and her coworker. No wonder! We laughed and joked but I should have known! Sometimes people cannot do two things at once! I guess this was the case. I am so unhappy with my nails I need to take off the polish. I don't really like writing bad reviews but I'm not happy with the way my hair turned out. I showed Val a picture of what I wanted and ended up getting something completely different. The color is no where near the same as to the photo that I showed her and didn't get the top highlights, which I also mentioned I really liked.. I know it's not going to come out exactly the same but obviously I wanted something similar and didn't even get that. I feel like she didn't really pay attention to the photo of what I wanted and she did her own thing to my hair... it's still nice but I'm so unhappy that it's NOT what I asked for... I'm so sad about my hair :( it's been years since I let someone touch my hair and for these main reasons. I had high hopes but I just won't be considering this place anymore. read more

Finding the time to pamper yourself is hard. Finding a good nail salon is harder. And to get off my lazy butt to actually go to a nail salon is beyond impossible. This place across the street from my work, and I just went after work to get my nails done a few times. The place is sectioned off into hair and nail section. It is beautiful, and the décor is clean and modern. The restroom is CLEAN! They offer wine during your service which is a major plus. The nail section is small. They can only fit a few people in that area, so make sure you make an appointment if you can. The nail polish selection is great, because they are more into the high end polishes. The only downside is the people who work there. Either they are good, or they suck. The first time I came here I only did pedicure, the lady who was doing my nails made me bleed and tried to deny it. Since you know, skin bleeds automatically. Second time I tried this place, I came for both mani and pedi. I had a glass of white wine and relaxed while getting my nails done. It was obviously a more pleasant experience. All in all, you get what you pay for. The prices are higher then normal, but considering the area, it isn't bad. This place is more for hair then nails, but they try. It's a place to try if you're in the area since there isn't a lot of nail salons in downtown Los Angeles. read more

I had a great experience getting a gel mani/pedi here tonight with my mom using our groupons. When we arrived for our apt, three ladies were ready to work on us. Tina did my pedi and Lynn did my mani. They really took their time to thoroughly clean my nails before working on the color. The process took about 1.5 hours and I know they usually close at 8 but didn't rush on us and we finished around 830. I did see a few small splotches of nailpolish on a few of my finger tips, but it really wasn't a big deal for me since they came right off. I absolutely love my gel mani/pedi and my mom loves her nails as well! I believe it was Lynn and Linda who worked on my mom. All the ladies were very cheerful and chatty, and even gave us some beauty tips! I really enjoyed our conversations with them! Valerie, the owner, was very nice, and offered us water, tea and even wine while we were getting our nails done. We also got to chat with her mom and grandma who were hanging out in the nail area, and they were both very sweet. Good vibes all around! It was easy to call and make an appointment, although my initial appointment had to be rescheduled by the salon, which was a bit inconvenient for me at the time, but they were very accommodating in rescheduling me. Don't go to this place. I showed up an hour early with my sister so we can pick out our colors. They saw my sister right away, and made me wait almost 3 hours to be seen. I asked the receptionist/ hair stylist why they were seeing so many people when my appointment was 3 hours earlier, her response was "Its because you and your friend showed up an hour early." Uh, pardon? That makes sense. Despite the time, there were more issues with this place. Called early about groupon deal (mani/pedi) the day before I booked appointment. I asked how much extra it would be for gel acrylic nails. She said all together it would cost $52. I specified again that it would be acrylic/ gel nails, she said it would be fine. At the check out she said it would cost $96 dollars.... I told her about what she said on the phone and she ended up by charging me $73 instead, but made sure to tell me how lucky I was to get such a good deal. After, my sister paid for her nails. Somehow her nails cost her almost a hundred dollars and she was just getting a fill! We were told it was because she got nail art on 2 nails. She again lessened the charge to meet my price... Because that totally makes perfect sense. After 3 days both of our nails broke and we had to go to our regular place who said whoever did our nails did a terrible job. They ended up by redoing everything. I could have spend the same amount of money at the place I go to in Beverly Hills (painted woman) and get a gel pedi, gel acrylic nails plus glasses of champagne. I guess my fault for trying to get a "good deal". I'll stick with my regular place and get good service. read more

I only came because of a Groupon (trap) for gel mani/pedis, but I wish I only got 1 instead of 3. That was my bad. Let me start by saying that Linda and Tina are very very sweet ladies. They did my nails every time and I did see progressive improvement with each visit. The issues I had with TenTen were: - Set up was not as nice as the pictures entailed. The foot spas are just buckets of water and you sit on regular, yet plush chairs - Above mentioned chairs have tons of mini fibers that get on everything and into my gel. I had fossilized red fibers embedded in my polish - Massages are little to none. These are my favorite parts of mani/pedi's and they were non existent - You have to be very proactive about what you want. I needed to remind them what services my groupon came with because the first time I went, I didn't realize I missed out on the paraffin wax I wanted to like this place so much, but unfortunately I could not. read more

First I'll start by saying... I am really picky about how I like my hair & TenTen Salon is my GO-TO salon! CUT: Valerie, the owner is amazing with hair! I'm really crazy about keeping my hair long. Valerie listens to what you want. She always keeps my length, but cuts in in a way that it looks great if curl it, style it straight, or come out of the shower and just sleep on it! Even her own hair is always on point, that's why I go to her! Lots of models, and beauty industry girls go to Val. She is absolutely fabulous! DYE: I also had my hair dyed at TenTen by Alexia. She was great, very personable and fun to talk to. For color, I'm really simple and just keep my hair dark at all times for maintenance purposes... I like to keep my hair healthy. I love that TenTen uses all Aveda products which is 94% plant based. So whenever I leave TenTen, I don't smell like Chemicals, and I know that a few weeks down the line my hair won't be damaged from chemicals. HAIRWASHING: Oh and as for the HAIR WASHING. This is worth a trip to the salon in itself! Val had Yuichi wash my hair. I was literally half asleep from the dying process. Yuichi brought me back to life!! I think everytime I go, I will request him to wash my hair. He has magical fingers... The best head wash&rub I've had, and he massages your shoulders after too. I would definitely recommend him for a blow out, and make sure he washes your hair!!! Aside from hair, they sell Aveda Salon products too. TenTen is a one stop shop for beauty. They do spray tans, facials, waxing, massages, and nails. They don't have lamp tanning beds, because for the most part this salon is relatively green. I highly recommend this salon for the entire LA area, or even if your from far away and just passing through. It's worth the drive. In my case it's worth the flight! I actually now live in Vancouver, and I come to LA just to have my hair cut. I haven't found anyone better, and I'm tired of being disappointed in the process. Whatever you need done, TenTen can do for the fraction of the price of a Salon in Beverly Hills that has a 3 month waiting list. It's relatively easy to get a same week, or even same day appointment. But definitely make an appointment, because it gets busy! read more

I've been going to this salon for over a year and do not let anyone touch my hair except the girls at Ten Ten. I've never left this salon unhappy, which is impressive because of my very thick, hard to manage hair. Color, cuts, styles, braids, extensions.....they're awesome. In addition to being an amazing stylist, Val (co-owner) has NEVER said no when I am almost always late or scheduling appointments same-day. Even though the salon stays super busy, she makes sure to greet every customer and take every call. Val hands down takes the service at this salon to the next level. I was deliberating writing this review because I thought the stylist who did my hair was really sweet. I wanted to like my hair because I liked her. I left the salon thinking I really liked my hair. But after the curls washed out and I got a good look at it in the sun, I was wrong. Three weeks after seeing if I would grow to love my hair, I still did not and had to shove out $$$ at a high end salon in Beverly Hills to get the color corrected. During my appointment my stylist was working on two clients at the same time, which may be why my color turned out so bad. I have Asian hair with naturally red undertones, so I specifically asked her to keep that in mind. She also foil highlighted my hair and maybe because I told her I didn't want it brassy she over ashed it and it looked too green. I went back the next day and had her re-tone the highlights and asked if she saw red in my hair. She said she did not, she saw brown. Though I was still not satisfied I wanted to give my hair a break and also thought it was best if I got different eyes on it. When I went to the salon in Beverly Hills they stylist was dumbfounded as to why I had my base colored with such red undertones. And why there was one huge highlight on the side of my head (see picture). Two stars because the cut was OK. Aside from its location and convenience, the people there are terrific. They always remember me, they know me by name, and they always treat me really great and are very welcoming. It was expired, but Lifebooker clearly states that it is still worth the original purchase price, plus in California the value of gift cards can legally never expire. So while i knew i wasn't going to be able to get facial with the lifebooker alone, i was hoping to still be able to use it towards something from them. Maybe i could pay for a full service and they would honor the coupon and subtract the measly $39 i paid for this thing? In any case, i live close by and wanted to check this place out! I was already set on going, so i would have made a full price appointment whatever the outcome. When i called to see what my options were, the woman i spoke to became unbelievably rude. Like, i get it, i have an expired coupon, it's kind of annoying... but I'm still a potential customer wanting to give you my hard earned cash! And you'd be getting more money since the deal expired! She was so condescending and short. She could not get off the phone fast enough. That crushed any desire i had of ever stepping foot in this place. If i had had a pleasant experience with or WITHOUT the coupon, i would have been a returning customer. Got charged to dye my hair. After she dyed it I guess she discovered the mix of the Brazilian blowout and the dye were not compatible. Because I heard her gasp & tell her mother look what happens when she goes over 360° (which is like nothing) on the straightener. The dye completely comes off!!!!! So she sais " "oh by the way don't go over 360°on the straightener or the dye will come off" like .... Don't you think you should've told me this before you charge me $450 ???? including haircut to do my hair? I have followed directions to the T and the dye still came off!!! There's brown blotches all over my head mixed with black ( what it was supposed to be ) I can't believe she just expects me to eat this and then has the audacity to charge me $25 extra because my hair is long after I already sent her a picture and had her cut off a lot. She's not nice always looking at me sideways never humble or grateful for my business. I can't believe how she just rob me for my money and expects me to eat this. I would complain or try to say something but you know what I am just done with this treatment my hair is completely blotched out brown patches everywhere. And the haircut was very lazy she tells me at the end do you want the ends tapered? I didn't understand what that meant but then she said no I don't need it ( I think she did that just to save her five or 10 minutes because she doesn't care) I understood when I left what she meant because my layers are so choppy it looks like they were cut with a knife yes now that I understand I wanted the whispy layers that's what I paid for but nothing is worse than this issue with the little heat stripping my hair of all the color. Not fair not a way to treat people or give service shame on you. & if you discovered how the little heat stripped the dye you should of atleast try to make things right then & there not charge me full price & just send me on my way all nonchalantly. It's bad business & even though your always booked you shouldn't treat people with an attitude like you don't need them. & I could hear her laugh & talk to her co worker like " why would you come to a salon with an attitude when they basically have your life in their hands" I guess she was referring to me because she always acts like I have an attitude even though I try to be as nice as I can. Like why would you even say that like if you were going to mess up someone's hair on purpose? Mind you the last time I came was like two years prior and she cut my layers backwards I felt like it was maybe an accident but after that comment I thought maybe she did it on purpose. It took me two years to grow my hair all one length and even tho the layers were in a correct direction this time she chopped off a whole lot more than I anticipated again this time when I specifically said I wanted low layers they're super high it's gonna take years just to come back to the length I want I'm not trusting her anymore. read more

My haircut by Val is unnoticeable and I have as many split ends as I did before my appointment. Experience- awkward. I arrived on time but since Val double booked during my appointment I had to wait 15 minutes for her to seat me. Once I was seated she asked what I want done, had another woman wash my hair (which I'm used to in salons but usually the person doing my hair will greet me, ask me what I'm looking for, give suggestions, ask if I'm going anywhere after my appointment - for styling). When I tried making small talk she cut me off and most of my appointment was spent with the woman who washed my hair or waiting for her while she ate hot Cheetos the whole time and scrolled on her phone or socialized with the other girls. I felt like I was an annoyance to her day. She then trimmed my hair and less then 10 mins later the woman who washed my hair started blow drying, she then trimmed my bangs & started taking pictures & videos of my hair for her social media (without my consent or even saying a word about it), she charged my card and I left. She spent a total of 10 mins max on my hair. The cut- at the time I thought the cut was decent (which was why I tipped 20%) but once I washed out the blow dry style I noticed how little she did. I asked for layers & a trim for my split ends. I have just as many split ends after the cut as I had before. I can't notice any layering. It looks like she cut off half an inch from the bottom and blended it out and that's all. My friends who have seen my hair agree that I definitely got ripped off. I'm sad that my result & experience were so wack because I was hoping to go to Val long term. I have long hair that I spend a lot of time and money on my hair to maintain its health but I definitely would never recommend someone pay over $100 to get a trim and rude service. read more

I got my mani/padi done by Linda G. She is very good and honest with you and even help you to choose better color for your occasion. I really like the service of all the employees are great here as well. Only thing that will make me hesitate to come here will be the facility. They don't have a spa chair. You need to sit at the sofa chair and keep move your body and turn/Stretch your arms around. The hold experience was little less relexing than I expected. But I am super satisfied how my nails turned out and the price was pretty reasonable so I might come back again!! read more

The sloppiest mani/pedi I've ever received. I made an appointment for 6:30PM, went in at 6:10 and had no problem being seen right away. Both ladies working on my feet and hands were nice and very sweet and very efficient; I was in and out in 45 minutes. That's where the good stuff stops. The "massage" was a joke - it was just someone rubbing lotion on my arms and legs. And my nails were fine but overall very sloppy. There is polish along the cuticles of my toenails, the edges are uneven on my fingernails and my toenail cuticles are still ragged. There were also random polish splotches on my hands. I had to spend at least 20 minutes cleaning my nails up at home. I came here on a groupon and I would never come back. read more

I found this place on Groupon. I called around 9:30 AM to see if their promotion matched the one I seen on Groupon & they confirmed it, but told me to just come in & pay through them & they'll give me the same price as shown on Groupon. & they did. I made an appointment & called on the same day. I paid $42 for a gel manicure & regular pedicure. Without my Groupon discount it would have $65. Kind of high to me but the inside of the Salon is beautiful. They have it sectioned off for hair & nails which I really liked. The place is downtown. Parking wasn't too bad but be prepared to pay at least $3 for parking. There's some spots close by & across the street. When you map it, it'll take you to a weird spot but the actual salon is around the corner. I had to call them to find it. It's a very relaxing place to me but it could have been because I came in the morning on a week day. I will NEVER come back here for a gel manicure though. My nail chipped after two days of having them done. That's unheard of & defeated the whole purpose of a gel manicure so I'm GOOD. read more

Eh, I hate leaving less-than-positive reviews, but I had a weird time here. They had good customer service but there were a few red flags that warrant this review: 1)The mani pedi didn't come with the little massage that mani pedis normally come with which was disappointing. 2)The manicurist gave me a very painful hangnail with her cuticle cutters. 3)She also used the cuticle cutters on her own nails during my mani, which I thought was gross and unsanitary. I got my nails done here back in June 2015 and it was mediocre. One of the clients mentioned that they had a Groupon deal going on so I inquired with Valerie -the owner as I was paying for my service. Who couldn't pass up a deal for $127 - 3 Gel Manis and Gel Pedicure? She told me to purchase directly from them instead of Groupon and at that time, I didn't think anything of it. I was already there so why not? When it was time to get my nails done again, I called and tried to book an appointment but they said they were booked all week. I called numerous times after that and same response "Oh sorry, we're fully booked" I even told them I would come on odd hours, but since they were running a Groupon special, they were always booked. Fast forward to January of 2016, I reached out to Valerie - the owner, and told her about the credit and asked for a refund. She said she would mail the check to my address (which she confirmed), was in the system. Almost a year after my purchase, I still don't have the check for $127.00 and have called to follow up with no call back or response. This is bad business practice and I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. I don't normally write reviews but this one needed to be told. Be weary - Bad Customer Service. read more

I showed up at 11:25 for an 11:30 pedicure appointment. At 11:50 they took me back (I normally wouldn't have waited that long, but I was curious as to how long I'd sit there past my appointment time). They sat me in a chair with wheels, on a concrete floor. It's impossible to not roll around all over the place when your feet are not on the floor while seated in a chair with wheels, so I ended up grasping the side of a manicure table to hold myself still. My back ached and my legs were shaking. Luckily, the pedicure was over by 12:20. I say that because I could finally put my feet on the floor and try to get comfortable. I understand they're renovating the space but that's really no excuse for keeping a customer waiting for 20 minutes and then not making them comfortable while you do a quick - very quick - pedicure. Very accommodating and friendly staff. I got a gel French mani and a regular polish French pedi. They did my toes and hands at the same time and finished in under 45 minutes but didn't rush me out. I sat and relaxed in their nice plush chairs with a glass of complimentary wine. I would definitely go back. read more

Ten ten hair salon was a refreshing experience this upscale , swanky spot was the answer to my hairs prayers . I was welcomed with a beautiful smile at the front desk . Then shown to the lovely Jennifer she massaged my head of hair with aveda products that smelled delicious took time blowing out my hair and in the end result I left looking and feeling like I could conquer the world . I love this place. First of all the girls are all really sweet and amazing they make you feel welcomed and at home. Second of all they use all natural plant based products that they create, which makes your hair healthier, feel and look SUPER soft. My hair went from dead to ALIVE. What the best part is, that the photos don't capture how great this look is, compared to in person. In person my hair looks super natural. My boyfriend said I looked like a natural blonde, which is the look I was going for, and the look that they can deliver. The "hard" part was matching my natural ash brown roots with the brown that was blended into my hair, which they made it seem effortless, and second nature to them.
