Friendly workers and great service. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito. It was eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla (9.50). It was ok in my opinion. It had too many potatoes that it was hard to taste the egg and bacon. The potatoes were bigger in size than I like. I wouldn't order one from here again but I remember their food being good. Food. There is plenty of seating. They have a salsa bar which is nice to choose as you please. Since my order was to go, they gave me salsa in my bag.

Tuesday lunch special 2 soft tacos with rice and beans. Delicious!
    Abelina R.

Yelp to the rescue! Never disappoints! I was looking for a place near my father in laws nursing home to eat. Not being familiar with the area I looked to Yelp for ideas. This place came up and had 4 stars. The food was delicious! I ordered the lunch special for that day (Tuesday; 2 soft tacos with rice and beans) and he ordered a super burrito. The location is clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

    5. Enchilada & Taco Combo
    Zack D.

Yum. Stopped in here for lunch while working in the area. Found it on yelp (of course) and decided to give it a try. Upon entering it's a bright & vibrant restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring you your food. I ordered the #5 combo: a crunch taco, enchalada, rice & beans. I started with chips and salsa (and extra $1 charge) and the salsa bar was good. The hot orange sauce was flavorful with a kick, the mild was more watery with a strong taste of onion. I liked the hot more. When the food came out it was presented really well. The enchilada was a little disappointing as it was the size of a taquito but half the length. The carne asada inside was very good though. The crispy taco was pretty average but once again the filling made up for it. I also really liked how sour cream and guacamole are included on the plate! For $14 it was a great lunch and I definitely enjoyed my food!

Got lunch here and food was very good! Tried pork enchilada plate and carne asada super burrito, good flavors and portions.

    Vegetarian Tostada
    Marissa R.

Great vegetarian options and always fresh. I got the vegetarian tostada which was about $5 and absolutely massive. The rice was a tiny bit dry or undercooked but it was still so yummy. All I was missing was spicier salsa or hot sauce.

Pozole (Transferred to my own container)

(Food transferred to my own container) Today I ordered 2 bowls of pozole with extra onions and cabbage... but instead they only gave me enough cabbage and onions for ONE BOWL.. to make matters worse, I was expecting tortillas, but they gave tostada shells instead! Wtf! This was the easiest order on the planet, and they couldn't even get it right.. it wasn't even that busy inside.. besides my disappointment at the lack of tortilla, onion, and cabbage, the pozole at least tastes decent

    Baby Burrito with sour cream.

This place is one of my favorite mom-and-pop shop to go to when I'm in my hometown. If I'm not eating at the restaurant I grab a basic baby burrito with sour cream (refried beans and cheese). I don't even like beans, but this burrito is so good. It must be made with a lot of love because it's so tasty. I have a few friends who aren't bean eaters like me and they will eat the baby burrito from here. I'm reviewing on the baby burrito because this is what I got, but everything on the menu is worth a try. Also, the family is really sweet. My encounter as I was picking up my burrito, I am presuming it's the owner/dad because he came in and greeted the cashier with a hug and kiss on the cheek. He went to each worker with a smile and said good morning. It was the kindest thing ever. I can feel the love and sense of family at this restaurant. It's rare to find, so I fully support this place when I can. Lastly, I liked the fact that I was able to do a phone order. I called placed my order, they told me how many minutes it'll be ready, walked in paid, and left. I had zero wait time versus if I waited without the call, at most I wait 10-15 minutes previously.

That is a "large Shrimp Cocktail" with extra avocado.

Favorite taco place. Carnitas and steak for sure. Chips use to be better. A bit stale tasting recently. But not a game changer.

Our table was right next to a metal utility rack they were using to store menus and cleaning products. That's fine, but my head was close to a spray bottle and a bottle of Lysol, which wasn't ideal. They were very busy, so we had high hopes for great food. Unfortunately, many of the items were bland. The beans and rice were especially underwhelming, with very little flavor--you can tell from the picture that the rice is basically plain white rice. My flautas were crunchy with fresh toppings, but the meat lacked flavor. My meal came with a bowl of fideo, but it wasn't delivered before my meal like it was for other tables. In fact, I had to ask for it after our food arrived, which makes me think I wouldn't have received it otherwise. After we finished eating, it took about 15 minutes to get our check. The servers were clearly very busy, but it would have been nice to leave sooner. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back. The noise level was overwhelming, and the food was just okay. If I did return, I wouldn't order anything that comes with beans and rice.

The maximum occupancy is 49 people, but it felt roomier inside than that. The decor is okay and the place seemed clean overall. Service - Service was pretty good. Our server was very friendly, and service wasn't bad. The only blemish was she did not check in on refills very frequently. I managed to get one, but my wife did not. By the time she asked again, we had finished our meal and were ready to go. A pretty small blemish, and not a dealbreaker for us. Food - The food was outstanding. My wife got the fajitas and they looked great! She loved them. I got the alambres and they were fantastic. Add in the homemade tortillas (both flour and corn) and it's an easy five stars! Their rice, beans, and salsa were all good too. No complaints at all with the food. Overall, I'd definitely come back again. The food was great, the people were super friendly and welcoming, and we were able to get a table right away. It's very close to the freeway, so when coming from out of town it's an easy on/off too. We came here on a whim last weekend, and OMG, I'm so glad we did. The restaurant is small and not in the greatest location, but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I can't wait to go back! The tortilla chips are a mix of corn and flour, which was a nice surprise. Literally everything we ordered was so good! I went with the build-your-own combo plate and chose a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef flautas. My entire plate was delicious, including the rice and beans. The homemade tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food. We split the three-piece quesabirria tacos, and they were excellent. I chose the gravy cheese enchilada for my combo plate, but I also tried my partner's green chili chicken enchilada--both were great. You can choose between red, green, or gravy sauce for the enchiladas, and I definitely want to try the red next time. Don't be turned off by the unassuming storefront and corner location. This place is serving up some seriously delicious food, and it's absolutely worth the visit!

I chose La Mesa because the first time we went I was very impressed with the delicious drinks and the short rib enchiladas. The atmosphere is so special and intimate whether you're on a date or with family. Both times we went, our servers were friendly and checked on us appropriately. Our server yesterday was handling making drinks at the bar and serving other tables that were there for Valentine's Day, but she still provided us with really good customer service (not sure of her name but she was wearing a pink shirt). We ordered a few drinks that included a strawberry horchata with rum, and a special one for Valentine's Day called the cupids kiss. They really stood out to me with how cute and yummy they were. For an appetizer, we ordered birria French fries. I was surprised that it had the consommé because I assumed it would make the fries soggy.... But it did not! They were AMAZING. The birria was tender and delicious, the flavor had a lot of depth in the consommé. For our entrees, we both cannot get enough of the short rib enchiladas with the mole sauce. They are our favorite. I really am just grateful that there is a restaurant like this that cares about the food they share with their customers. In the past, we ate at restaurants for my birthday where they didn't take as much pride or care about what they served. My birthday dinner at La Mesa felt very special to me and my boyfriend.
