Also a treat. The chicken tacos are the still the best as well as their salsa and chips

Wow what a great find! My sister and niece introduced me to this place as they have been going for years. I got a combo #3 and it came with a shredded chicken taco, chicken enchilada, chile relleno, chile Colorado AND chile verde, rice and refried beans AND flour tortillas!! All for just $20.49!!! It was so delicious and staff was very welcoming and friendly. Parking lot is tight though.

Tipping culture is out of hand, but what happened to me at El Señor Frogs truly takes the flan. My 10-year-old daughter had just done great at her jiu-jitsu tournament, so we went out for a celebratory lunch. The total on my receipt came to a reasonable $33.29. However, minutes later I received a text alert from my bank saying I had actually been charged $39.95. I checked my receipt again--nowhere did it show $39.95. It only listed the $33.29 total. When I asked my server, "Laura," about the difference, she insisted something must be wrong with my bank. But my bank notifications are accurate every time my card is swiped, and I believe she added a 20% tip without telling me and hoped I wouldn't notice since the printed receipt didn't show it. Ironically, I had planned to leave a tip even larger than 20%, but after that, absolutely not. No way, José. I strongly encourage future diners to double-check their bank statements or notifications after eating here. That taco combo lunch special might end up costing more than you think. Ay caramba.

Veggie super burrito beans rice cheese sour cream guac on the side. Side of gravy and cheese. They have a new menu with new items. Breakfast is being served now too. Place is clean as always and service is great today. Ordered a new item rib eye steak alambre. Comes with ribeye slices, chopped bacon bell peppers onion cheese and chorizo. And the other order is beef chimichanga and beef quesadilla. Fresh home made tortillas Saturday and Sunday make sure you ask for them.

Special combination #1: beef taco, enchilada, chile relleno, Colorado & Verde with rice & refried beans

This place has menudo everyday, not just on weekends, so I can cure my menudo cravings anytime lol. They have pretty good combos for lunch and dinner. The only thing is they don't have whole beans because I prefer whole over refried beans.

Customer service is first and foremost for me! Chunky and his team are great! I love their food and the value they provide. I recently brought my mom and my brother and his family and they loved it! He asked me how I found this place. It's a hidden gem and local establishment for years! I don't take a lot of photos, but you owe it to yourself to give them an opportunity! Try the #1 or #3 and sample a variety of items! On a separate note, Chucky and I once fought to buy a meal for a homeless person. You can't help everyone, but you can help someone! That says a lot about Chucky!

Our table was right next to a metal utility rack they were using to store menus and cleaning products. That's fine, but my head was close to a spray bottle and a bottle of Lysol, which wasn't ideal. They were very busy, so we had high hopes for great food. Unfortunately, many of the items were bland. The beans and rice were especially underwhelming, with very little flavor--you can tell from the picture that the rice is basically plain white rice. My flautas were crunchy with fresh toppings, but the meat lacked flavor. My meal came with a bowl of fideo, but it wasn't delivered before my meal like it was for other tables. In fact, I had to ask for it after our food arrived, which makes me think I wouldn't have received it otherwise. After we finished eating, it took about 15 minutes to get our check. The servers were clearly very busy, but it would have been nice to leave sooner. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back. The noise level was overwhelming, and the food was just okay. If I did return, I wouldn't order anything that comes with beans and rice.

Stopped by Fondita after a recommendation from my cousin and he delivered! Let's get into it…read more.. Ambiance - Fondita is a smallish restaurant, but can still cater to groups big or small. The maximum occupancy is 49 people, but it felt roomier inside than that. The decor is okay and the place seemed clean overall. Service - Service was pretty good. Our server was very friendly, and service wasn't bad. The only blemish was she did not check in on refills very frequently. I managed to get one, but my wife did not. By the time she asked again, we had finished our meal and were ready to go. A pretty small blemish, and not a dealbreaker for us. Food - The food was outstanding. My wife got the fajitas and they looked great! She loved them. I got the alambres and they were fantastic. Add in the homemade tortillas (both flour and corn) and it's an easy five stars! Their rice, beans, and salsa were all good too. No complaints at all with the food. Overall, I'd definitely come back again. The food was great, the people were super friendly and welcoming, and we were able to get a table right away. It's very close to the freeway, so when coming from out of town it's an easy on/off too. Great spot!

We came here on a whim last weekend, and OMG, I'm so glad we did. The restaurant is small and not in the greatest location, but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I can't wait to go back! The tortilla chips are a mix of corn and flour, which was a nice surprise. Literally everything we ordered was so good! I went with the build-your-own combo plate and chose a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef flautas. My entire plate was delicious, including the rice and beans. The homemade tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food. We split the three-piece quesabirria tacos, and they were excellent. I chose the gravy cheese enchilada for my combo plate, but I also tried my partner's green chili chicken enchilada--both were great. You can choose between red, green, or gravy sauce for the enchiladas, and I definitely want to try the red next time. Don't be turned off by the unassuming storefront and corner location. This place is serving up some seriously delicious food, and it's absolutely worth the visit!

I chose La Mesa because the first time we went I was very impressed with the delicious drinks and the short rib enchiladas. The atmosphere is so special and intimate whether you're on a date or with family. Both times we went, our servers were friendly and checked on us appropriately. Our server yesterday was handling making drinks at the bar and serving other tables that were there for Valentine's Day, but she still provided us with really good customer service (not sure of her name but she was wearing a pink shirt). We ordered a few drinks that included a strawberry horchata with rum, and a special one for Valentine's Day called the cupids kiss. They really stood out to me with how cute and yummy they were. For an appetizer, we ordered birria French fries. I was surprised that it had the consommé because I assumed it would make the fries soggy.... But it did not! They were AMAZING. The birria was tender and delicious, the flavor had a lot of depth in the consommé. For our entrees, we both cannot get enough of the short rib enchiladas with the mole sauce. They are our favorite. I really am just grateful that there is a restaurant like this that cares about the food they share with their customers. In the past, we ate at restaurants for my birthday where they didn't take as much pride or care about what they served. My birthday dinner at La Mesa felt very special to me and my boyfriend.
