I recently visited Teranga City in Brookhaven on last Wednesday for happy hour, arriving right at 1:00 p.m. when they opened. And when I say they open at 1:00, I mean exactly 1:00--don't expect to get in even a minute early! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with modern décor, great aesthetics, and a vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. Even during the early afternoon, the music was on point, so I can only imagine how lively it gets during evening happy hour and on the weekends. My friend and I grabbed seats at the bar and started with happy hour margaritas, which were a great way to kick off the afternoon. For food, I ordered the wings, which were a little on the small side and fried a bit harder than I prefer, but the flavor was excellent. The real stars of the meal were the lamb chops and jollof rice. The lamb chops were juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, while the jollof rice was hands down the best I've had so far. Although we skipped the hookah this visit, I definitely plan to come back and try it next time. The service was outstanding, our bartender was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. On-site parking is another bonus that's always appreciated. Overall, I'm giving Teranga City 4 out of 5 stars. It has a beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service, and plenty of potential to become one of my favorite happy hour spots. I'll definitely be back, and hopefully next time it'll earn that fifth star! read more

We decided to come here for drinks, and what an epic WASTE of time and MONEY to park! Not only were we not seated for a reservation that we made in a TIMELY MANNER, but once we were seated, no one came to service our table. We had to flag down three servers - all of whom informed us they were not our server. We were told by all three servers that they would find out who was working our table, but alas nothing transpired. NO ONE CAME TO SERVICE OUR TABLE! We waited nearly an hour for LITERALLY NO SERVICE. We didn't even get waters!! During all this, groups of people got seated after us and somehow MANAGED to be seated at tables with servers. Whewww... I'd go on... but I am sure the POINT HAS BEEN MADE!! So, after nearly an hour of waiting for absolutely NOTHING, we left and went home. I wish I could speak highly of this establishment, but sadly I cannot. read more

While I was in the Atlanta area, I visited Tangeray City twice, and I had a great experience both times. The first time was for a late-night club vibe. We got there after midnight, grabbed a section, enjoyed the music, and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was fun without feeling overcrowded. There was plenty of space to move around, which made it much more enjoyable than some other nightlife spots. We didn't buy our own drinks that night, but I will say this... the gentlemen at Tangeray City were generous, and we love a generous man. The drinks were definitely strong, so no complaints there. We came back for brunch, and I'm glad we did. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. The only downside was the wait. It took longer than I expected for breakfast to come out, but once it arrived, it was worth it. They also had hookah available, which was a nice bonus. I liked the layout of the venue too. It felt open and spacious, with sections available if you wanted a more private area. Whether you're there for brunch or nightlife, it doesn't feel like everyone is packed on top of each other. Overall, Tangeray City gave me a much better experience than I expected. Good food, strong drinks, hookah, plenty of space, and a fun atmosphere made it a place I'd definitely visit again the next time I'm in Atlanta. Overall rating: 8.8/10. The wings were amazing, I wasn't the bigger fan of the chick and waffles. My waffles were on the harder side. I did enjoy the mimosa, it was which on weekends it's 2 mimosa for $25. Our waitress was Shay which service was good but I guess cause they were busy the chicken and waffles took 30 mins to come out by that time my friend already finished his food. I would say don't show up hungry. It's also very loud inside but it's expected if you want something a bit less loud I would sit outside and eat. Looks great on this inside though. read more

Stopped by on a saturday to check out their weekend happy hour and we had a blast! Our table of 4 was quickly seated in the outdoor patio area. Service can be a little slow depending on the time you get there/if its shift change but after that was sorted, the rest of our visit was very smooth. Parking was easy but there was a cost so we optd to park across the street. One of the best happy hours in Atlanta! And of course it's outside of Atlanta located in Brookhaven! The happy hour is during the week only from 1 PM to 9 PM Monday through Friday. The DJ is amazing. The drinks are good, the food is good. Just grab your crew and check this place out. Of course it gets very busy so arrive early. Gratuity is already included on your receipt so be mindful of that. The waitresses were so friendly.... Not pushy or too laid back. She came right over got our order and within 10 min we were sipping. We thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour menu and the hookah service. We did have the wings, and a few other plates, they were ok - nada to write home about but good. It was dark, cool and the music was playing at a perfect level where you could dance or hear the person next to you without saying what a million times. I enjoyed myself here. This place definitely has good vibes. We came here yesterday to watch the NBA game playing that day and they had plenty of TVs to be able to watch. They were also playing loud music so it's definitely a lively and upbeat atmosphere as well. You can tell people there are genuinely having a good time which was nice as well. I will say the service was not the best but I appreciated that they accommodated me. I felt like the waitresses we had were not very friendly at all to be honest. The first thing I ordered was the red snapper with jollof rice and it was just not good. The red snapper was just very skinny like I felt like there was barely any meat on the bones and it just wasn't flavored that well to me either there was just it was nothing to write home about and was really not good. I also got the jollof and I'm probably an unfair judge because I am Nigerian so I know what authentic jollof is supposed to taste like and I wasn't expecting it to really be to that level because this is by no means a Nigerian restaurant but to me the rice was a bit overcooked and that's something that no matter what you should be able to figure out so I did not like it. I did not like the snapper as well so I ended up sending it back and they actually accommodated me so I got the lemon pepper wings and fries instead. First time in Atlanta and my cousin invited out to this lounge. It was our first night so we wanted to make sure we enjoy our trip. The atmosphere was great and the music was hitting different that night especially for a Thursday night. Now onto the food, it's an American/ West African fusion which I've never had before. Safe to say im a big fan. I had the Cajun jollof pasta which I've never even heard before and was so glad I chose it. It was so flavorful and unique, like nothing I've tried before. The food was so good we decided to go back the next day for happy hour on Friday and they had $1 wings and 2 for $10 lamb chops. I don't know what it is but Atlanta knows how to make wings!! I actually had quite the time at Teranga City. The parking was a little confusing at first because I thought we had to pay to park, but we circled around and found we were able to self park for free. I don't know who the DJ was that day, but it was a millennials DREAM for the music selection. I mean the DJ did not MISS! I really loved the vibe of the place because while we didn't know the party sitting next to us, we all collectively sang and danced together (that's how good the DJ was) I thought the food and drinks were reasonably priced. My friends and I ordered shots, hookah, fried calamari, and lobster bites. All delicious! Service was quick, and overall it was just a chill way to end off our Sunday. Teranga City is a nice comfortable spot with great food and beverages. They have patio seating as well. If you enjoy hookah, they have that as well. When you visit Teranga City, you must try the lamb chops. OMG!!!! What a load of flavors. Seasoned to perfection and very, very tender. They charge $20 to park to go pay and patronize their restaurant. I don't understand that. Also they try and charge you for parking at the closed businesses across the street which they don't own! We arrived here around 7 PM on a Saturday. They charge $20 to park in their lot, $10 to park in another business lot (ahem) and $40 for VIP. Before walking in they checked our ID and purses. Once inside We were quickly seated at a large booth but asked to be moved because it was FREEZING and the ceiling fans were on high and pointed directly at us. Our waitress came over promptly and I ordered the lemon drop or as they call it here the "Nubian lemon drop", the wings and fries...I contemplated the lamb chops but another review on here said they were tough and not good so I opted out. The wings came in 8, wing dings not full wings. I was able to mix two flavors the lemon pepper and I think the other flavor was sweet and spicy. The music was very good, mainly Afro beats with some other contemporary songs mixed in, but it was a tad too loud, couldn't hear anyone or have a conversation really. They do not serve tap water, bottle only and they are $5 each. My wings were itty bitty pigeon wings lol but were very delicious especially the sweet and spicy. I wish I had got all eight with that flavor, the fries were decent nothing spectacular but they were hot and crispy when I got them. The only quality that stood out about this venue was the DJ/music. The cuisines selection are supposed to be African but it literally American bar and grill selections. The happy hour specials provide a handful of tasty options. Unfortunately the entrees I wanted were not available. The service was snail-paced so if you're in a rush then pick somewhere else. The drinks were good. Kudos to the bartender. However this is the thing to be fully aware and on alert when you visit here in order to not get taken advantage KNOW HOW MUCH ITEMS COST AND CHECK YOUR BILL. Even though gratuity is optional, be careful because they will already add gratuity and hand you the machine to tap your card and it will ask if you would like to add gratuity! This is on anything you plan on purchasing at this restaurant including hookah. There is a charge to park your vehicle in the restaurant parking lot also. Lol....the service here is honestly so laughable. I understand how Atlanta is with "lounges", BUT even on my worst experience, it's been better than here. We got here at 9:30 or so and out our names down, they stated that it was a 45 minute wait. No problem, I completely understand. They stated that they would text/call when our table was ready. After an hour, no text or call. We went to the hostess stand to inquire about our table, the hostess stated that it would be another 30 minutes or so, which was ridiculous at that point. The food is okay, but certainly not worth a 2 hour wait. The only way I could see myself coming back is if someone has the "hookup". On top of that, I was approached by someone inside asking me to pay to "work" there, which made absolutely no sense. I prefer this location over Buckhead. While there is more parking I think eventually they'll need a bigger lot. I was able to park across the street from the lounge for free. The food & service is good. On busier nights there's more of a wait for food / drinks but it wasn't terrible. I came on a Saturday with 2 friends. The hostess said it was a 30 minute wait. But honestly we probably waited like 15 minutes before they sat us. Ordered our food, hookah, & drinks and everything came out perfect. No complaints! read more
