My girlfriend's Shrimp teriyaki
Leigh D.

Starting a new restaurant series starting from my zip code 20724 in Maryland City/Russett where I live and going every direction. Got around to trying Teriyaki & Sushi on Saturday, 7/26. I had gone in several months ago when they first opened and learned they own the Charley's Steaks in this same center. Prices looked reasonable. Staff was nice answering questions about the rices vs noodles. I got the chicken teriyaki. At some point, I'll want to try their beef, but I'm very limiting red meat right now and mainly sticking with chicken & turkey as well as seafood at times. I settled on the fried rice, which was not an upcharge. My girlfriend got the shrimp teriyaki. They were pretty quick, and it was a lot of rice & good amount of chicken. Hers had less shrimp than my chicken, but shrimp was only $1 more. It was a lot of food, and this was the single BEST Teriyaki I've ever had. I tried my g/f shrimp & she tried my chicken. I thought her shrimp was great too. I've Sarku Japan in malls, a local place in Kensington with a friend, & a couple of others, and this was the single BEST. Also, the guy making our meal asked if we wanted more sauce; I said no more teriyaki sauce, extra sugar we don't need. But we got their special orange sauce, which was good too, as well as sesame seeds. The one downside was my weight was +1.8 lbs the next morning. This might be more of a consideration if we were splitting the meal, eat half & save as a leftover or eat for lunch and eat little for dinner. We ate dinner a bit on the late side around 7:45 by the time we got home, so didn't help either. I kind of thought it wasn't going to be a ton of food comparable to what you get at Sarku. Overall, a great meal in spite of the weight gain.

Chicken & Shrimp Teriyaki Combo

The Only Review You Need To Read We were hungry and saw their "Now Open" sign, so we decided to be adventurous and give them a try. This review is simply based on our one time there. The decor was basic, but inviting. Plenty of seating. I ordered the teriyaki combo (chicken & shrimp, white rice, no vegetables) and my better half ordered a chicken bento box. We both noted the rice didn't seem like it was cooked enough because it was sort of hard. Other than that, I thought my food was on par with other teriyaki places - not spectacular, but just fine. My girlfriend on the other hand was not impressed with her meal and said she had no interest in returning. Ouch; I didn't walk out of there with a negative feeling about my meal, but then again I'm not as discriminating about what I eat. The sushi offerings looked interesting, so perhaps I could convince my honey to give them another try. Everyone else, I think you'll like the food.

Rangoons and Rolls! :)

A hidden gem in Laurel that gives an outside "hole in the wall" look but once you walk inside, you find yourself in front of a wide array of sushi, teriyaki and noodle etc etc choices. My husband had the salmon poke bowl. I had the Philly Roll and the Spicy Crab. Not to mention the BEST Crab rangoons I have ever had in the area! The prices were BEYOND reasonable and the freshness of the food was beyond good! The only thing I would change is that it is very loud inside (if there is some way to make it a little more chill/quiet)... and maybe add some more decor inside (it is a little bear bones inside decor wise but that is NO reflection of how good their food is). DEFINITELY give them a try if you are in the Laurel area! :)

I ordered from here on DoorDash tonight and my tummy is satisfied. I got a shrimp bento box with…read morevegetable fried rice and the shrimp tempura roll. The bento box is massive. I could've ordered that alone and been fine, but I was also craving sushi. I'm saving most of the fried rice and vegetables for tomorrow. The bento box was pretty good. The vegetables tasted very fresh (I love my veggies). The rice was a little sticky for my liking, but the shrimp was good and plentiful. The California rolls were standard, and the dumplings & spring rolls were both good. The only negative I have for those is that they did not include a sauce for them. Luckily I keep sweet chilli sauce in my fridge. The shrimp tempura roll was okay. It had a slight bitterness to it that I think is because it was fried in old oil. The bento box arrived piping hot, which I liked. This was after being the second stop on the delivery. Overall, I think Quickway Japanese is solid and I would order from them again if I want a quick sushi/bento meal.

Take this review with a grain of salt for many reasons, and considering that I could not rate this…read morerestaurant above a 4. We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. Again, overall, I love their food and believe it's a local gem worth a try.

The service was pleasant and it was a older atmosphere. I don't think I would want to eat in but the service was pleasant. That's the best I can say.
