A mom and pop specializes in Northern Chinese cuisine, a rare find for the area. We stopped by for lunch and were happy to see their menu featuring classic Chinese breakfast items like soy milk, You tiao, and Dou Fu Nao, along with variety of other dishes. While a few items were hit or miss, the overall experience is a solid 4/5, especially considering how hard it is to find authentic northern Chinese food in the area. The dumplings really stood out, perfectly crispy on the outside, with juicy and flavorful filling inside. They also offer a selection of frozen dumplings/ buns. If you want to try out northern Chinese cuisine, this spot is worth a visit!

This is a fairly nondescript restaurant in a strip mall that is sit down, Togo, delivery and also sells frozen dumplings for cooking at home. The food here is genuine Taiwanese and you can get some traditional breakfast treats as well as some really tasty baos and dumplings. Dropped in for some breakfast but definitely will come back try try more things. * Tofu hua - which is a soft tofu. We got this two ways. Sweet which surprisingly has a slightly gritty texture for the sugar - usually this is a ginger infused sugar syrup. We also tried the savory one with wood ear mushrooms and other umami goodness. * we got some fried stuff pancakes too - one with shredded daikon and one with chives and eggs. Both were good. * sesame bread sandwich with braised beef. Tasty but I really wanted some cilantro to add brightness. We took several baos to go to try and they heated up well.

Noodle soup is so good, the broth is legit from pork bone I can tell. Friendly service and clean environment! Highly recommended

The minute we heard about a chinese breakfast place in Austin, we woke up early to get there right when it opened. We had the place all to ourselves! We ordered hot sweet soy milk (it was a very cold weekend which is unusual, and it was the perfect thing to warm us up). Of course we ordered pork and thousand year old egg congee, fried dough in sesame pancake, and then also egg pancake. I've had a lot of congee in my day (grew up eating it in Flushing on the weekends) and I have to say, it's the best pork and thousand year old egg congee I've ever had. Super authentic. We were in a hurry so we had to eat and run, next time I will definitely get a stuffed steamed bao because there were so many of them in bins sitting on the counter. I had FOMO leaving but our belly's were full and we were headed on a long drive.

Mom and pop Northeastern Chinese breakfast spot. No frills and very homey. The food is fairly authentic to Chinese street food with the soy milk, tofu, dumplings etc. Their breakfast items seems to be made in house in addition to their tofu and soy milk. Solid local spot!

Mom and pap shop with Pretty good food. The sweet tofu has a tangy taste which was not the most pleasant taste. Other than that all was good. Too hot inside, barely any a/c

The food here is incredible! Everything tastes very authentic and very well cooked. We got the Shao Mai, Fried red bean buns, and fried fish's nd everything was phenomenal.

The hype has died down and it's my second time here. You still order by QR code. The massive lines and wait times have diminished, it seems. Came in for a later lunch. Opted for Salty Soy Milk (still in stock this time!) and Savory Tofu Hua. The Salty Soy Milk was... an interesting rendition to say the least. First, the soy milk was not curdled, and there was an absence of sourness, meaning no vinegar had been added. Strange. This led to a lack of the satisfyingly creamy mouth feel typically associated with salty soy milk. Instead, I was left with hot soy milk that has some chili oil poured over into it, and with scallions, dried shrimp, and youtiao pieces. All fine. Except the flavors were not tied together, no doubt due to the missing acetic acid. The dou hua was fine and tasted as expected, consisting mainly of woodear mushrooms and tofu hua. However, towards the end of June, in the sweltering heat, eating hot food inside the restaurant isn't necessarily a great idea if you're looking to cool off. The ambient temperature within is quite warm, even when lightly clothed in running shorts and a t-shirt. This is the first time I've perspired eating hot food in a warm restaurant. Perhaps it was because the table was next to the window? I'm not sure, but clearly the AC was either not functioning or it was turned off.

Asian style breakfast , lot of different foods. Chinese breakfast options include soy milk, sesame seed cakes, fried dough sticks, steamed buns, and dumplings--a great place for the whole family to eat and drink on the weekend.

When on a late weekend morning, there were still plenty of tables around. It was inside your typical Chinese restaurant. Tons of tables and seats and barely enough room to walk between them. They sit you down, and there is a QR code on the table. You just scan it with your phone and order. I got the cold soy milk, beef pancake roll, sesame beef sandwich, and beef noodles. The beef noodle was good, but I wish it had a little bit more kick to it. The cold soy milk was good, but it just needed a bit more sugar for my liking. The pancake roll and the sesame sandwich were decent. Overall, the experience is what I expect for any Chinese restaurant: poor service but great food. The food took a while to come out, but everything looked and tasted fresh. So if you are coming here looking for good service, I would look elsewhere, but if you are looking for actually Chinese food, this will be one of your spots. Once you are done, you just pay up front.

Long night of working on a finance digital transformation plan for a client. After I hit the submit button, I thought I treat myself to a nice breakfast. I yelped breakfast places near me and settled on Breakfast House based on its rating. I escaped our home while my husband snoozed. Pro tip: Do not fully use your gps on this one. My gps told me to make U-turn and then turn into the parking lot. However, I had already passed the restaurant. I ordered sweet potato porridge and a pork wrap. My porridge came in a mixing bowl size serving...enough for 4-5 people. It is something about the name porridge which makes you think you're in a fairytale or Aesop's fable. The wrap was freshly made and was quite flavorful. The wrap was enough for 2+ people. Needless to say, I had a lot of leftovers. However, since I'm traveling tomorrow and didn't want left overs seating in the car, I left them in the restaurant. Then I jetted off to some pre-travel errands. There is ample indoor seating and free parking. Laid back vibe... Good first time experience...

Hands down one of the best beef noodle soups I've had at a restaurant. I opted for a light spicy beef noodle soup and I couldn't have imagined it tasting any better. The portion was generous, as soon as the soup sits on the table you're instantly lured with it's aromatics. The noodles are cooked to perfection and I need to ask if the beef is halal because it was so soft and tasted very fresh. Everything in this bowl tasted divine. I'm not feeling well, I needed soup and Breakfast House delivered. Will be back.. again and again.

I thought the food was good but kind of pricey. I enjoyed the braised beef noodle soup and the beef was tender but the broth and noodles weren't too special. I also got their sliced beef and pork which was alright as well. My friend really enjoyed their congee so I would probably go back to try. The workers were nice but there service was a bit slow. There is plenty of seating inside.

I ordered the migas, and the amount of onions in the dish was overwhelming--so much so that it felt like I had ordered a plate of onions rather than migas. The masa cakes were definitely the standout item and were absolutely delicious. However, the rest of the dish fell short. The sauce was extremely rich, making it difficult to enjoy or finish the meal. That said, the restaurant itself is adorable, and our waiter was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were both great. While this breakfast wasn't a hit for me, I'll still return and stick with favorites like the fried green tomatoes and taquito salad, which were excellent during my previous visit.

Their burger is easily one of the best I've had in Austin, especially paired with their thin, crispy fries. It's my go-to order almost every time. One thing I love is that they switch up the steak portion of the menu a few times a year, and it never disappoints. Right now they have the steak au poivre, which is incredible, although I'm still craving their steak frites and hoping it makes a comeback. The escargot and French onion soup are also favorites of mine. At this point, June's has become a staple in our house--usually with a couple of Diet Cokes and either the burger or whatever steak they're featuring. A few of my friends swear by the chicken sandwich (fair warning: it can get a little messy!), the half roasted chicken, and the tuna crudo, so you really can't go wrong no matter what you order. On top of the amazing food, the staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming, which keeps us coming back. I definitely recommend making a reservation since it tends to get pretty busy, especially during peak hours.

While Magnolia Cafe is a longtime South Congress staple and a beloved Austin spot, my visit didn't quite live up to expectations. I met a group here for a pre-show meal and appreciated being seated promptly upon arrival, even though my entire party had not yet arrived. I ordered the chicken caldo soup, which was not served with avocado. The waitress did not check in with us immediately after the food was served but when I inquired about it I noticed there was an up charge on the bill for avocado. I recommend allowing the substitution of the tortilla chips with avocado in the future for a healthier alternative. However chicken caldo traditionally cones with avocado. I also tried the Mag nachos, with tortilla chips topped with black beans, cheddar/jack cheese, jalapeño, tomato, green onion, avocado and sour cream. These were very tasty and unlike the caldo, was served with avocado. The food took a while to come out and the service felt slower than expected. Magnolia has a great reputation, so I was hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations.
