We have dealt with several pest control companies. We had several kinds of ants and carpenter bees, plus rats because we live near a drainage canal. So, last year we decided to give Terminix a try because the others had not been getting rid of the pests. The supervisor, Dean, who came to check out the property was very professional and polite. He made some recommendations such as cutting the trees back from the house and he really listened to our concerns and walked the property with us to find out the trouble spots and he took notes. We felt he made a really good effort to 'know' our property so that when the tech showed up, he would know what to do. When the technician arrived, he was on time and explained everything thoroughly. He answered my list of questions to our satisfaction and was also very professional. We have had no trouble with any of the pests since starting our quarterly service with Terminix. With the other companies, the pests never really 'went away -' we still had little ant trails and the carpenter bees just moved. This time, no more pests and we have not seen or heard any evidence of rats! The company calls (auto-call) a few days before the servicing and if you don't like the time they give you, you can call their toll free number or go online, and change it. The service center is likewise polite. The tech calls about half an hour beforehand to be sure we are home and the pets are not outdoors. We've had a very good experience with this company. I feel like I'm reviewing an entirely different place from other reviewers. Man... After reading all these reviews I'm sick. I didn't do my homework I should have checked Yelp and the BBB first. The salesman sold me a package deal that included in-ground baiting system and tenting of my house. A date is set 7/31/20, we get a hotel room, we've packed everything up, the crew shows up and won't tent the house because it's unsafe because we have a zero lot line in the back of house. A couple days later a terminix guy shows up looks around and leaves. On 8/6/20 the salesman Roger and a supervisor show up to check things out and I practically have to shame the supervisor (Patrick) to go up on the roof to properly assess the situation. As they leave they assure me that "we'll figure something out and get right back to you" I tell them that if we could not "figure out" how to get this house tented that I would be canceling the entire contract. A week later still no word, and we still have EVERYTHING still in those protective bags so I call their main number (8/13/20) to talk to one of the managers (Jeff or Daniel) whose names I got from Roger the salesman. Mario (the lucky guy who took the call) told me ONLY Jeff or Daniel could help me and they would call me in 1-2 bus days. I have yet to hear from Jeff or Daniel. On 8/17/20 I found out terminix was charging my credit card for a recurring ground termite service that I had purchased as part of a package I purchased initially. I then emailed Roger the salesman about this and he simply forwarded my email to Patrick the supervisor. I have yet to hear from Patrick the supervisor. On 8/20/20 Roger the salesman called and said the would have to cut the retaining wall in order to tent. I live in Makakilo and there are lots of zero lot line properties in Palehua and lots of properties getting tented so i don't know what the problem is, anyway.. I told Roger the salesman I was NOT cutting the retaining wall and to cancel the contract and to start the refund process for the in-ground baiting system (1,274.33 which we paid in advance) and he said no problem. On 8/25/20 the tech came out and removed all the in-ground bait stations. Today 9/16/20 STILL they have not credited our credit card. So... BEWARE. The actual service provided did what I needed it to do. I had a roach problem. They took care of it. All they did was squirt a gel substance into parts where I had roach poop. Had I known that this is what the professionals did, I would have bought the gel at Longs and saved all of us some time. Regardless, they did the job and my roaches are under control. The reason for the low rating is their customer service. I would give them 0 stars if possible. I live in a high rise and my manager received paperwork from them that told us (residents) to remove everything from our kitchen and bathroom so they could do their service. I spent hours cleaning everything out. The technician comes and tells me that all of that work was unnecessary (since they just squirt gel) and that my management misinformed me. The technician went down to my management to complain, and their response was that this was in the information they received from Terminix. I contacted Terminix directly and got a whole different story that did not make sense. I will not be using this company again. I would advise you to stay away from them. read more

Terminix bought Diversified Exterminators and I was hoping for the best but got the worst. We were with Diversified for many years and had a good relationship with both the office peoplend our technician who ld come to our home each month and knew our concerns and needs. These people have no clue. customer service is horrible, if you call them you get someone on the Mainland or someone locally who can;t speak english. They never return their calls and so far after being with them for 3 mos we have had a different person come to do our monthly pest control service each month and we have to explain our issues, what needs to be done, etc We also asked for an inspection as we found some termites so they sent someone else out. he cam out and was going to send us a report and proposal for tenting. After 2 weeks a nothing we call and after 3 calls we gave up trying to get the report and will look elsewhere. it's a case of mismanagement and a Mainland company who spends lots of $$ on local ads but deliverer the service. Don't be fooled by these people. If we hadn't paid for our pest control service for 1 yr, we would been gone last month. We'll just have to wait till Oct when our contract expires read more

They had a really nice friendly gentleman go around neighborhoods advertising their services. So we gave them a try..we gave the gentleman a aprox time we would be hm. He than told to us between 1-3. That was the last time we had any communication with the company. The service day is here and and its 1:00.. Next its 3:30 and still nobody showed up. Regarding sandwich island pest control- a subsidiary of Terminix This company engages in fraud, we had an inspection in November and that's when they started billing us for our treatment, which is billed quarterly. Company installed sentricon bait traps dec 28th sprayed borate treatment April25 Trying to sort this out on the phone was terrible. Also, their technicians are a mess. one guy put a hole in our septic with the sentricon treatments (December 28th) and the other one was more concerned with his tattoo getting sore than doing the treatment, left a big pile of Vaseline in my driveway go with another company had originally signed up for quarterly treatments, not happening now, going with ANYONE else read more

I've used Terminex for years but the Roach treatment still has not got the roaches under control so their guarantee is not real. Now they have discontinued what was a safe garlic based treatment for mosquitoes and replaced with a toxic chemical that is dangerous for my animals so I no longer can get or use their garlic based treatment. read more

RE Subterrainian and Ground Termite inspections. Was told many years ago the inspectors will cover the whole house. Five years ago, a new gal crawled completely under my house to do an inspection. Today, they tell me the agent will only look at the entrance of under the house. Could tell me why, after telling me they cover the whole house to inspect, that they will not go under the house and do a complete inspection. Like everyone else - 1 lousy star. Wanted to get the house tented for termites - they set a window to come by between 1-3pm, I waited until 4pm and nothing, no call, no tech, and I had to leave. Checked the video cameras later and he finally did show up at 4:15, that's when he suddenly remembered he had a phone and my phone number and left a message. Either they have so much business and they don't need to give a crap about anyone, or they've perfected the local ways of being lazy slobs. I figured being a national franchise that has to answer to corporate they might be a little better than the local work ethic of "lets screw off and charge Haole for it", but no, not at all. Maybe I'll try the other national chain before I go on the internet and learn how to do it myself, because I just don't trust local jerk offs and local businesses anymore. If ANY business in Hawaii starts with "Aloha" or "Kamaaina" or some other local name - regardless of the service - you can bet your life they're lazy unprofessional fakers who smell bad and make you feel like you need to nail down your personal property.. read more

I put a 1 because of 2 reasons, first I had to chose a star and second because there was not a negative star. My wife had a scheduled appointment set for today from 3pm to 5pm. She took the day off work unpaid. She called at 3:30pm and was told that the tech would show up before 5pm. She called and at 4:30pm and was told yes, the tech would be here by 5pm. She called again 5:10pm and was told that they would contact the tech and call her back. She called again and was told everyone went home and no one is answering any of their cell phones. My wife asked to speak to a manager and the lady hung up on her. She call again and was told she needs to reschedule her appointment. When my wife ask again to speak to a manager she was told no manager works until Monday. With customer service this great, they should out of business by Monday. One day, I'm poking around, and I find 'live' termites, just eating away at the wood. Worst pest control service ever. They over-sprayed around our coffee table, and ruined the finish. Now, we have spots all over the top where the spray ate through. When we contacted the company, they offered us $25!?!? Hahaha are you kidding me? You offer me barely enough to buy supplies to fix my own table you ruined?!?!? Terminix really keeps all the weird critters out of our house and if you call their customer service they will come back to treat the problem. We had rats in our attic and they went up into the attic, vacuumed all the poop out, washed out all the pee trails and patched up the holes where these critters would crawl up our mango tree and the branches touching the roof of our house was their way of entering. There was one hole up over there that was not covered by a screen. So they patched it up for us! They gave us some heavy duty rat traps that are better than the ones from Home Depot. These metal ones break their necks as soon as their hands are reaching for the chocolate bait! Our rat problem gone! Thank goodness. Our ant problem is gone too! And we had gnats all over the place and those things are gone too! SO HAPPY my kids can run around the yard and not be scared of roaches or bugs all over the place. We are bug free at our house!! They are fraudsters so do not use them. I paid my annual fee last year (2015), like I always do (I'm the trustee for our Hawaii house). They never came out, but tried to claim that their 2014 visit counted as part of the 2015 visit (basically, this means I paid $400 for one visit). Been on the phone twice (with the mainland number). Both times, the calls took over 45 minutes (mostly on-hold and being transferred to random people repeatedly). Finally, they told me the regional manager would call me in about 48-74 hours. It's been two weeks. Reporting them to BBB. Probably the MOST EGREGIOUS conduct I've ever experienced from a supposedly legit company--please avoid. read more

I've been meaning to post this review for several months but have only just gotten around to it- so this incident occurred a little before the Christmas season. I was a loyal customer of Islander Pest solution for quite some time. I got regular, courteous service from them and they were ALWAYS patient with my crazy schedule. Though they had a tendency to call me last minute to ask if they could come the next day, which was super inconvenient for me, I never said anything because they were generally okay if I had to call back and cancel a hastily made appointment after checking my calendar and realizing that I was actually not available after all. Once they were bought by Terminix, this changed drastically for the worse. A female receptionist called me in the middle of my work day to inform me that Islander Pest Solutions was now a part of Terminix, and that this would not interrupt my regular service in any way. The same techs would likely be coming to my house, and we could keep to the same schedule. She then wanted to see if she could schedule an appointment for the next day during the afternoon. I told her that it would be impossible for me to schedule an appointment for the afternoon because I leave for work at 7 am. Any appointments would need to be scheduled for before that time, or would need to be scheduled at least a week in advance so I could arrange for time off. She said "Okay" and we said our goodbyes. No appointments were made, and though she did indicate that she would call the technicians to check their schedules, she never told me that she would actively try and schedule me an appointment without checking with me first. I hung up my cell phone and headed off to a meeting. A few hours later, I get out of the meeting and head back to my office- there is a message waiting from the same receptionist informing me that she had called the tech and that he was willing to squeeze me in and come out to my house at 7 am the next morning. I was a little irked that she'd scheduled an appointment without explicitly checking with me first, but figured she was trying to be nice and helpful by scheduling me an appointment within a timeframe that would fit with my work schedule. Unfortunately, at the meeting I had just attended, my boss asked me to take on a job that would require me to be in the office extra-early for the rest of the week. I called the company back and a different woman answered the phone. I told her that I'd been scheduled for a 7AM appointment the next morning but that I would not be there and needed to cancel and furthermore that I could not reschedule until next week due to the project I'd just accepted. She told me "Okay, I'll call the tech and let him know you need to cancel." Fast-forward to the next morning, I am in my car and have already made it all the way to Kaka'ako (where I work) from the Windward side (where I live) when I get a call around 6:55am. It's the pest control tech telling me he's at my house and asking me to open the garage and let him in so he can start treatment. I was stunned and told him that I'd called the company the night before to cancel the appoint (which I never actually even scheduled, by the way). He then yelled at me and told me that he specifically agreed to come out before 7 to accommodate me. It was rude, but I figured I'd be pissed too if I'd gotten up early and rushed to a customer's house only to find them not at home. So I tried to explain that I'd never actually even asked for the appointment, that there'd been a misunderstanding between the original receptionist, but that I called the company back as soon as I got the message to let them know that I couldn't make the appointment. I was willing to call my neighbor though, and see if she'd mind opening up the house for him and taking my dog over to her place for the day but in the middle of my explanation, the guy hangs up on me. I was stunned. My first impulse was to call the company back and report what had happened, but I arrived at work just before the guy hung up on me. After a few hours working on my new project, I was cooled off and the incident was mostly put out of my mind. I called back at lunch thinking we would all apologize for the misunderstanding and that would be that, but I didn't get an answer. I left a voicemail that to date has not been returned. I switched to Orkin and have had great service ever since. read more

Call office again and said the area manager will call me. No one ever called back. Do not use them, I took time off work to waste my time. We had an initial appointment scheduled for today between 5-7 PM. The tech called me at 1:00 and asked, "Hey are you home?" I replied that I wasn't, and he asked, "So when will you be home?" I told him I'd be home between 5 and 7, when we had scheduled our appointment. He then replied, "Well it's raining right now, so we won't be able to spray outside. Can we reschedule to when it's not raining? How about tomorrow at 1?" I told him I wouldn't be available until after work, and he proposed Saturday instead. I told him it was a priority to have our home treated ASAP (today is Wednesday), and he said, "Well I can come today, but I'll be waiting at your house for 4 hours, just to let you know." As our conversation progressed, it became increasingly clear that he was not at all concerned with the rain, and that he simply did not want to be working late, despite Terminix having scheduled our appointment prior. (P.S. I checked outside and it's cloudy but not actually raining today.) The interaction was all very strange and unprofessional, and though it was mildly irritating, I'm concerned that, with an ongoing maintenance plan, we'd be dealing with this unprofessional etiquette and fickleness with every appointment. HORRIBLE PEST TREATMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE! Terminix was the most awful pest control you can hire on this island. To start with, after 3 treatments I talked to the person who was going to my house to perform it that I was extremely unsatisfied with the results and wanted something that really worked. I was never pest free, actually I think the pest I had increased after treating with them, I'm not sure if they use over the counter products but all I can say was extremely inefficient and I still am very upset about the results. After contacting the office asking what they could do for me once their slogan is "pest free guarantee or your money back" I was treated very poorly and the lady I was speaking with said she could only comeback to my house if I paid the remaining balance for my last visit. After stating I wasn't going to pay because I was very unsatisfied with the results, she said a manager would contact me. NO ONE EVER DID! 2 months go by and I re-call this people to see what was up about my situation. I explain all over again what happened and the customer service agent was very sassy, rude and said my name was actually send to collections. EXCUSE ME! I contacted you guys, I waited on a manager to follow up, with a house infested of a pest a paid to get rid off. HECK NO! I was so extremely upset the company do not own to their own slogan and perform the worse type of customer service you can experience. I requested to talk to the legal department and said was going to report them to the corporate. Billing was not the problem, my problem was the service was horrible and I wanted to get a new treatment in order to address the issue I am having. I talked to this person on Friday the 15th saying I wanted to schedule a new service after the billing was solved, this same person said they were going to follow up with me on Monday (Monday was a holiday so I expected to get a call on Tuesday) Today is the 28th and I still did not hear back from this people. Long story short I contacted a new pest control business and would NEVER CONTACT OR RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! Horrible. Do not hire them. After an initial appointment with a service tech to see our problem we signed up and gave a credit card number to hold, first mistake. An exterminator then was scheduled to come a few days later and never showed up after not even calling, claimed he got hurt on the job... BS EXCUSE! We then rescheduled for a Saturday, waited all morning and nothing, again no show claiming a flat tire!! After a few days we said screw it... Then all of a sudden our credit card gets charged 523.00 for termite control we never got. We called, emailed and even Facebooked corporate to get a refund... The managers here were non-sympathetic and only after a rant on Facebook did we get a refund... Fraud!!!! read more

We've had a great experience with Terminix. Had a bedbug problem over two years ago when we lived in apartment, next door neighbor had infestation and they crawled to our apartment. Our landlord booked an appointment with terminix. We had to communicate thru Lance, he sent us check list how to prepare our apt for treatment, then scheduled an appointment. The tech arrived on time, inspected the area and sprayed everywhere. He came back in 2 weeks for follow up. Bugs were gone, we were happy Not sure about the cost, our landlord ended up responsible for the payment. But we are very satisfied with service read more

If INTEGRITY & QUALITY is important to you, use another company. Do not let their brand, size & marketing make you feel they are the safe or best choice. Here's why: The house I was buying disclosed there were termites & there was a policy with Terminex. Kamaaina was used on our behalf to inspect. Kamaaina found live termite activity. We asked Terminex to tent the house based on Kamaaina's findings. Terminex sent their guy out, did an inspection and said there were no termites. Our realtor suggested both companies meet at the property. Kamaaina changed their mind, gave us back our inspection money ($300) and withdrew their findings. Terminex still would not tent & stood by their findings. We hired a specialist for $650. They found live termites within 1hr of inspection. They spent 8hrs at the property, sketched the entire house like an architect, wrote a detailed account of their findings and recommendations. Terminex then said they will do whatever this company suggested. So Terminex tented the house as per the policy. BUT I had to wait 4 months to have it done. On the day of tenting (Saturday) around 1pm, the wind was blowing over 30 knots on the roof. After an hour, waiting for his manager to confirm tenting (because the tenting leader guy didn't want to tent), his regional manager insisted they tent regardless. We had to spend two nights out because they didn't work on Sunday. We drove by several times and the wind was blowing like crazy all weekend long. When we moved back in, I checked my plastic container of live termites & they were still alive. I showed the termites to another company who we were hiring to do ground treatment. I tried to ask Terminex how much gas was being used & they couldn't tell me. For months, Terminix called me to renew the policy which I refused. I finally had to tell them I didn't need to have a policy & I will tent my house when I was good & ready & they said it was against the law! Ha!! It's my opinion that Terminex must have taken issue with our property as the only prior verbal communication was setting up of a date & time for tenting. Terminex -did not inspect for termites correctly -uses Kamaaina for sub-contract work -made us wait 3 months to tent -tented 2story home under poor conditions -tented on a Sat-Mon we paid 2nt's to stay in a hotel & never used pool or beach because it was too windy! -did not warranty their tenting unless we paid for another policy ONE star is given to the crew that tented the house. They were professional, friendly and most importantly, they did not want to cover the house as the conditions were not ideal. They followed their boss's instructions. read more

I work with a lot of pest control companies and Terminix is horrible. I don't like getting routed to their mainland call center because they are useless. I've left messages there, and no one locally calls back. Finally got a hold of Bridget in the Aiea office and she definitely needs a personality check. I had to call them to follow up on their mistake on Monday. Inspector is coming back on Friday and they won't give me his number. They said HE will call me 20minutes before arrival. He was supposed to do that on Monday too, but didn't, and alarmed my client!! I personally wouldn't use them or recommend them to anyone. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! My house was tented for a CERTAIN bug.. When the representative came to give us an estimate he said " there are different strengths to kill CERTAIN bugs & these are the DIFFERENT prices" now some prices were higher than others. so, we decided to go with the strength that takes care of our problem and nothing more. Yesterday I called and spoke with a customer service rep named Evette, who was NO HELP nor did she even take the time to understand why I was upset. I called in to check what service we got the last time so that I know what I need to order this time. She checked on my account and at first she claimed not to see anything. Then she said our house was tented for TERMITES...to my knowledge the bug we needed to kill needed a higher strength than that needed for termites. My thinking was "oh shit they treated for the wrong bug". When I explained what i was told about strengths, Evette goes on to claim "ANY fume we put in the tent will kill ANY bug, rodent or EVEN you if you're in there". FIRST WHY DIDN'T I JUST PAY THE ONE PRICE FOR THE BASIC STRENGTH THAT WOULD KILL EVERYTHING????? When I asked her that I felt She was VERY loud and rude, didn't want to even attempt to listen to what I was saying. For the record, I NEVER once asked for anything free..SECOND WHY WAS I RECEIVING TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF INFORMATION REGARDING STRENGTHS? (Btwn her and the rep) THIRD CUSTOMER SERVICE ENHANCES THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. I felt threatened when she said it could've killed me as well. Shortly after moving into a new apartment my husband and I discovered that we had bed bugs. We called Terminix because we knew the name, and initially had good service; the inspection was free, and they came in within a week to do the first treatment. We found a couple of live bed bugs after the treatment, and they came back and sprayed again for free, as their guarantee had stated. However, when we found evidence of termites Terminix dropped the ball. We scheduled an inspection for a Saturday and were told that our appointment window was 5-7pm. Our landlord wanted to be present for the inspection, so he came over and waited with us for the inspector. Fifteen minutes before 7pm the inspector hadn't shown up or even called, so we called the main Terminix number to see if they could track the technician. During this call we were told that during Daylight Savings Tme business hours are only until 5pm. If this is company policy then I'm not sure why we were given such a late appointment window. While we are locked into a year long bed bug treatment contract, we are taking out termite treatment business elsewhere. read more

my house used to have rats and the bugs in the ceiling still making their way down, the rat even chewed a hole too. had these "pros" come in and the best they could do was put a mouse trap with a piece of whatever bait they had on it. thats it. it's a "special" bait, right. it's so special it doesn't work. now the bill comes in around 300$ just to have some old guy who walks into my f**king house with his shoes on and emits a general aura of discomfort, put a trap into a place, then comes in again and asks us "ya do u see tha string go up? no? okay, im gonna com latr and check" thats literally all he did." i break my dang back working for a paycheck of 300$ wish i got paid to do absolutely nothing. read more

While tenting our house, Terminix stole 3-4 of my husband's G-Shock watches. I had taken my jewelry with me but we forgot his watches and when coming back home, they were all gone. So, take your valuables or don't go with this company at all. read more

This company does not actually fumigate your homes as Terminix, they send out a crew of 4-5 guys or girls, that do not have CDL licenses just 7a fumigation licenses. They bought out Diversified Exterminators in Feb 2015 and Sandwich Isle sometime this summer. They merged all three fumigation companies to create Central Fumigation. They send one truck of 4-5 guys to your homes to tent it. Then they send out another truck of 4-5 guys to actually spray the gas in your homes. That is an additional 4-5 guys you never met nor gave permission to be on your property or around your valuables. They have very strange practices and think that they are somehow better than OSHA, the agency governing rules on the chemicals used in your homes. They were recently sued, and lost, because the wrong gas was used in a home that left a family disabled! read more
