my wife selected this company because of customer service from initial inspection (Patrick). I trusted this company because Patrick was the only one who crawled under the house and took pics of ground termite tunnels. the next highest bidder only stayed about ten minutes and did dot crawl under the house. the other two bidders did not crawl under the house also. when the termini work crew showed up the senior guy gave tips on preventive maintenance against future infestation. we took the maintenance contract as well and I want to see how that works when they come back to check the bait stations. also, this company has been in business for over 95 years so I am assured it is not a "fly by night" company. And yes, they are expensive but would you escape Cuba in a rowboat or a cabin cruiser? read more

Terminix used a third party contractor to tent and fumigate one of my houses. They had me sign waivers for roof damage. I asked what happens if the contractor is careless and causes damage, Sarah told me they would take care of it. the third party contractor was careless. they throw ladders up against the edges of my newer metal roof, causing damage, dropped heavy rolled up tarps on my roof and bent down a portion of my newer rain gutter. I texted Sarah about the damage. after two weeks of trying to get a reply, she texted that her boss said I needed to read the damage waive. I bought a one year renewable warranty, but was never given a copy of the warranty. all you have to do is read their long list of horrible reviews. read more

Stepped through my roof and never told me! Refused to acknowledge the damage to my home and instead referred me to the contract which absolved them of any responsibility. At the time I had a co-worker who had heard these guys at Terminix joking about ruining my roof. Despicable. Run from this company as fast as possible! read more

Scheduled for a Saturday consultation. Mainland office offered the date. No one showed. Told me that the manager had cancelled it. (How come no one told me?) Rescheduled for Thursday. No show. When I called, I was told it was changed to Saturday. No one told me. You guessed it. No one showed on Saturday. I'm done. The manager called me Monday and told me the mainland shouldn't have scheduled me for Saturdays because he doesn't work on Saturdays. Jeeze. Maybe he should tell the scheduler. And tell me? Calling their number and dealing with mainland people was bad enough. It took forever for them to locate my account, each painful time. Nope nope nope. Not calling again. read more

UPDATE: I filed a complaint with the BBB in December 2019. Terminix responded to the BBB complaint and agreed to refund about $1000.00. To date, they have NOT refunded a cent of my money. I even contacted Terminix last month regarding this. Still nothing. This is truly shameful for a company to charge a customer for services that were not performed and then expect to keep the money to boot!!! It's back to BBB for another complaint. read more

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!! I typically do not do such reviews, but feel compelled here. I am a home owner and business person and dealing with Terminix - Hilo has been an absolutely terrible experience. Bad communications, incompetent execution, and arguably the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Our experience with Terminix started with a contract to address our fire ant and roach problem at our home. After having a good experience here we decided to also address our subterranean termite issue with Terminix via their Sentricon system (bait that will kill the underground termite nest), but this is where the good experience turns very sour. Apparently there are different people that are in charge of different components of their services. While the ant and roach services are great, their Sentricon services are not! They hit you up with an initial high price to install the bait system around your property with a substantially lower annual price to maintain the bait stations moving forward. There is no grantee that the system will work, but there is a provision in the contract that if there is any subsequent damage to your home after the system is installed Terminix will hire a professional contractor to repair any damage. When we first started the Sentricon system we had some subterranean termite activity and damage on the inside of our home running up and down a wall. Terminix poisoned the area and apparently took care of the problem in this area. However, less then 5 months after we implemented the Sentricon system we had observed massive subterranean termite damage running from the bottom of our exterior walls to the top of our roof line. The lower part of the damaged wall was less than 5' from one of the Sentricon bait stations! After numerous calls, someone finally came to inspect the situation. The person confirmed it was subterranean termite damage, that there were live subterranean termites in the wall, and that the bait stations in the area were not touched (termites were not eating the bait). The person then poisoned all the affected area and apparently killed the termites in the affected area. Good job yes? No! After talking to termite professionals from two different companies to now tent my home, they said Terrminix missed a golden opportunity to install a wall bait station right across the track where the termites were going up and down my wall. This was the first time I heard about wall bait stations. With a wall bait station over a known traffic area the termites would likely eat the bait, then take the bait to the underground nest and ultimately kill the entire nest, this is the whole mission and goal of the Sentricon system. However, now that the area was poisoned, the termites will simply move to another location of my home and continue feeding, and this is what happened when they initially poisoned the interior of my home, the termites simply moved to a new location, to the exterior of my home. In other words, we loss the chance to bait termites from two known locations to take the bait to the nest and kill the nest! I consider these lost opportunities and deviations form what appears to be a standard practice (installation of a wall bait stations) as incompetence. This incompetence results in a wast of my time and money and likely additional damage to my home! Now I need to find someone who will address this issue professionally, correctly, and effectively! Too add salt to the wound here, my contract states that Terminix will repair all damage subsequent to the initial installation of the Sentricon. After many calls to Terminix they finally informed us that they do not have a professional contractor to work with and told us that we can have a professional repair the damage and then they would refund us! Before we moved into our home our gardener informed us we had fire ants in the grounds. We contact Terminex for pricing for home and grounds to be treated. We put it on contract because we were bringing our pets with us. Once we moved and started to have more work done in the garden we find we have a prolific fire ant problem. We contact Terminex and they came out to treat the house not the grounds. The guy doing the treatment said he would go back to his manager and tell them that we understood that the grounds should also be covered by the plan we purchased. Heard nothing. Contacted by phone customer service and raised a grievance. I was assured that the manager would get back to me. Still waiting. The customer service agent said the would send someone to do a full home and grounds inspection free of charge. He came and sent us a quote for treating the grounds for fire ants. I went online & filled out a form with Terminix to get an estimate. Someone soon called back & set up an appt to have "Patrick" come do an inspection. No show. No call back. No reschedule. I had 2 cabins tented by TERMINIX 10 years ago so I thought I was safe to do it again with them as they were offering a 'returning price customer'... I went back home on the day I was supposed to 15 minutes prior to the time indicated as I was eager to check on my cat. My gate was not up as I had ask them to do, my driveway had been totally destroyed by the large tires of their truck, 2 dead rats were awaiting me where I park my car. There was no "Notice of Safe Re-entry to the door(s)' as specified on the contract. Nobody had called me, so I called, left a message & was called back short after saying "Sorry, Mam, it's safe to go in." Looking around, a rafter had been broken (yes, it was termites damaged) and the screen of my lanai was destroyed (I know their tent is heavy & my screen is old). The following day I noticed that my aloe plants and orchids had turned brown at a distance of 40 feet. I could go on and on with "details"... I finally had a manager returning my numerous calls to say again "Sorry, Mam, you signed a waiver". I checked: it says "Damage may occur", I supposed this is covering Terminix for being responsible for the cost of the repairs. I feel grateful though, because since I shared my experience with people around, I heard horror stories where a cat died in a place that was not supposed to be tented that day and where somebody got severe sickness out of the gas used. I supposed this is like going for a minor medical procedure and having to sign that you might die... and you are glad you did not! I have had Termite protection from Terminix past 8 years. In AUGUST i saw a termite activity inside the house. I called terminix numerous times and no one ever got back to me. After a month of calling I finally managed to get a technician. When he came, he was just a sales person that tried to sell me other coverage and informed me "That probably old residue". After a week residue started showing up again and again it took me a month to get someone just to come. When Technician came he did a small spot treatment that didn't work. Droppings were showing again. When i called again ( again few weeks passed to see technician) he cam , spot treated again but said that house needs to be tented. In my presence he called local manager and spoke to him to schedule immediate fumigation. I was told that I will be contacted next day . Past next TWO WEEKS no one contacted me. I left numerous messages in the office, went to office couple times, Called Terminix executive services, was even escalated to regional branch manager MS Tiffany Blackmore, and still not answer back. Not even ONE phone call. I am calling every day, leaving same messages and explaining my story over and over again to a different call center people who just apologies and promise to resolve and NOTHING is happening. NO one is getting back, No one is honoring the tent warranty. I have been paying the insurance for over 8 years now! Local office completely ignores me and Termonix help line and executive services are just "apologizing" and promising to take care of it - i have been calling them almost every day past 2 weeks. I have paid for Terminix termite service contract for more than the past decade. They came for their annual inspection and of course didn't find anything. I was too busy and I forgot to tell them about the droppings by my back door. 2 weeks later I power washed my home and noticed 2 different areas of termite droppings and damage to my wall. They returned 2 weeks later and told me that the droppings were old because they were dark. The original area by my back door was a light color, which they treated but again they told me that they didnt find evidence of active infestation. I think they mean they need to see a live terminte. They found yet a third area which they treated. 2 weeks later I called them because I found another area as I was painting my house. They spot treated the area. They again told me they found no evidence of active termite infestation. I told them I wanted it tented. After all I have been paying for the insurance for over a decade. They denied my request. I recommend that you NEVER buy the insurance. Save your money and have your home tented every few years. It is cheaper and much better. You can't find termite infestation if you don't look. read more

After numerous calls, I finally got someone to talk to! He said the earliest they could get there would be in October! DO YOU KNOW WHAT TERMITES CAN DO, LEFT UNCHECKED, FOR OVER FOUR MONTHS? i wish i could give no reviews. patrick talich from terminix is disgusting. he took my deposit money from terminix WHEN THEY CANCELLED THE JOB. my account got charged 541.20$ & i asked him multiple times if my account got charged yet when he cancelled, he tells me NO. it was charged on june 7th. FUNNY NOW THAT I CANT GET A HOLD OF HIM. terminix is going out of business in Hilo, & it shows. i got charged interest of 200$ because of this unknown charge. please save yourself. read more

Beware abhorrent customer service! Let me start by saying I have had a termite protection plan with Terminix for over 12 years and 11 years ago when my home required tenting the service was prompt, thorough and courteous. This time, however, has been quite different. We have been finding new droppings in our house for the past 2 years, but multiple inspectors have told us there was no active infestation. After we started to see new holes in the walls and floor despite being told in November of 2016 that we still didn't have an active infestation, we scheduled a follow up inspection in January. The inspector did not ever get back to us with the results of the inspection, so I assumed they felt there were no termites yet again and called in early March to have another inspection scheduled. However, when I finally spoke with someone in March I was told that the prior inspection had noted active infestation and recommended tenting. Then my endeavor to get tenting scheduled started. After 3+ weeks waiting to hear back from the scheduler, I finally heard back on April 10 and was told there is a huge backlog and she had 5 other people to schedule before she could schedule my service, but that she would be calling me back later the same day after talking to them so that I could get on the schedule. She also informed me that the earliest dates for tenting available are not until July. That is 6 months from the time they discovered an active termite infestation in my house! By April 19th, I still had not heard back from her, so called Terminix again. I was told a message was left for her and she would call me back within 2 days. As of April 28, I still have not heard back and just called again and was told that she will call me back. Meanwhile we are finding more and more droppings on a daily basis, as well as evidence of new holes in the walls and floorboards. My protection plan is set to expire in May of 2017 if I do not renew, but I was not planning to renew given this poor service. However, they are not able to guarantee that they will tent my home if I do not renew, even though I had an active protection plan in place when the termites were discovered, because the tenting cannot happen until well after May and by then I would no longer have a plan in place if I don't renew. In short, this is truly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. When it pertains to the structural integrity of something as important to my personal and financial well-being as my house, such poor customer service is not acceptable. BEWARE! read more
