    I had bought a special video game play seat that had speakers and subwoofer built in so you would 'feel' the game and gives you a more personal experience with my new home theater. Unfortunately whoever designed the chair must have also designed the awful concave seats on airliners or used one as a model. Sitting in the chair for prolonged periods of time really started to be uncomfortable so I bought a gel pad at Costco and then went to Relax the Back after I saw a lumbar support on their website at a reasonable price to remedy the large design defect in the chair I bought. When I arrived at Relax the Back in Menlo Park early Saturday morning I was the only patron and after perusing the store saw everything was well stocked. When I told them what I was looking for they brought out a floor sample one for me to test to make sure it was exactly what I needed. This was great customer service to let me 'try before you buy.' I also had an extensive conversation with Chris Neves who speaks from personal experience as she suffers from back issues and wears a back brace! She demonstrated a lounge chair that inverts you to relieve pressure off your spine as well a massage the back muscles. This was a bit over the top for me but sort of fun to try it out. So if you suffer from back issues this might be the place to find something to help you cope with it!

    In December 2025, my wife and I went to Mancini Sleep World to replace our mattress. We selected an…read moreextra firm king size mattress and ultimately the experience of shopping there was excellent. The company delivered the mattress about a week after we ordered it, and the delivery/installation crew had the bed installed and working very quickly. Three weeks after it was installed, we discovered the mattress was much too firm for us so we went back to the store to request and exchange as they offer a 365 day satisfaction guarantee. To our surprise we were charged $150 to exchange the mattress. This was a surprise as we did not understand why a $4500 mattress was costing us $150 to exchange for an exact replacement although not as firm. We paid the money and the company was very quick to have the replacement mattress delivered within a week. The delivery crew came very promptly on the delivery day and that's where the problem started. They took out their cell phones turned the flashlight on and examined minutely every inch of the mattress, they found several locations on the mattress where there was a slight yellow discoloration, no more than an eighth of an inch and stated that they needed permission to pick the mattress up as it looked damaged. They photographed these discolorations and sent them to their Warehouse for approval to continue with the exchange process. They even flipped the mattress over onto the other side, which is completely unusable and noted that one of the buttons that holds the mattress together from the bottom was missing. I explained to them that the moment the mattress was delivered we use the brand new waterproof store supplied mattress cover and had never exposed the mattress surface to anything else since we owned it. The delivery crew was accusatory and their demeanor towards us as if we had damage the mattress and we're trying to get rid of it rather than take responsibility for it. When we first asked for the replacement mattress, I asked the store sales staff what they did with the used mattresses on an exchange. The comment was that they are recycled and not reused. With this in mind, I was puzzled as to why the scrutiny was so thorough on a mattress. We were clearly unhappy with. This experience completely tainted our opinion of Mancini's and we did not appreciate the behavior of the delivery staff. They spent a good 15 minutes, examining the surface of this mattress and kept saying look. Here's another spot, Look. Here's another spot. I submit that this mattress was delivered to us, soiled and broken, or during the initial delivery process was damaged and not reported to us. Ultimately the manager at the warehouse agreed to the exchange and they picked up the old mattress and brought us our new one. Ultimately, this experience has made us feel that we couldn't really recommend this store due to the behavior in the treatment that we received during their "" satisfaction guarantee process.

On Friday She called back and said I would have to cancel the order and reorder so they could ship by regular service. She also indicated they could not find the mattress in stock and would call me when located so it could be purchased on a new order for Saturday delivery. I told her to cancel the order as I could go many other places and get it sooner without all the confusion and hassle. Saturday rolls around and the mattress shows up. Monday Mattress Firm calls me and threatens me with credit reporting that I did not pay for the mattress because they already refunded me the money on my credit card. They are a never ending nightmare of confusing disorganization.

No one is ever at the store when it's suppose to be open. Saturday hours are until 5:00 pm, I went there today at 2:30 pm and they're closed. This isn't the first time no one is at the store during published hours. We've also written multiple emails, left voicemails and no one ever gets back to us. I am missing multiple sets of pillows and legs for both beds. Our sleeping experience thus far sucks. I would strongly recommend staying away from the company . They took an upfront payment, failed to deliver a complete order and have zero interest in communicating or addressing my satisfaction. Worst customer experience and company ever!!

Three years ago, I began noticing a shifting in the bed springs that are part of a pad that rests above the box spring. Needless to say, I was unhappy with what looked like a design flaw but my wife told me she would take care of it given my state of mind. She returned with a complete set of springs and said there was a recall. The fix was a simple inclusion of velcro straps - the recall was probably not cheap and perhaps not needed but Dux gets huge points for this proactive move. I was surprised when she said that the sales person at the store saw to it that we got our replacements without hassle and as soon as possible. I wondered, who are these people....anyway I never forgot the gesture and that leads us to number 2. 2. Last week I passed by the Dux store (by the way, locals should like the idea of having a place to go that has been open continuously through three Silicon Valley boom/bust cycles) and thought I would go into the store and see how the folks at the store would respond to some sleep problems I've had since a rotator-cuff surgery last year and years of sciatic (from piriformis muscle thankfully) The fellow at the store was fantastic in describing how the bed can be customized to deal with the nuances of my age-related sleep problems (that was the point we both connected with.) It didn't stop there, even though he couldn't find our original invoices, he remembered his interaction three years ago with my wife and worked out a solution that cost me much much less than the alternatives, First let me say, Thank you Michael, if all the sales people in the Dux company are like you, then they know how to hire the right people. Second, I work on the Stanford Cancer Survivorship project and one of the key areas of helping with survivorship is a concept called Sleep Hygiene (the quality of sleep,) the project taught me that we should all care about the quality of sleep and that the health repercussions of bad sleep pays for investing in a good bed. Third, it pays to be nice, even though I was a bit testy, Michael was going to help with the springs, when he remembered my wife(and how nice she was) and said he would pick it up on his ride home - he even called me on his day off - Nice work Michael - I really appreciate it. And yes. I would recommend this bed and the Dux Company again! Oh and I really really slept better. I am very happy, forget the MRI.

On the operations and distribution side, it was rough. What saved it was Josue H. in customer service. Over the course of 25 emails, he worked through every issue and proactively reached out to make sure things were moving rather than waiting for me to chase him. Five stars is for him. If Avocado's distribution centers operated with half the care Josue puts into his job, this would be an easy recommendation.
