Since moving back to NH about 3 years ago I have gone to the same Salon in Nashua who also is high in Stars on yelp. I always see a different person. I am very lazy when it comes to the up keep of my hair and when I decide I want to "update" my hair I always do it last minute. The previous Salon would always have openings around the time I wanted. However this time they did not. Thankfully I found this place. I usually always go the bayalage way with my hair. Since I see a different person they all have different techniques which has left my hair with different shades. So here is where Mikayla comes in. She was very patient and knowledgable. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted. I usually like to have faith my in my stylist to make sure it works and looks good. She listened, brought out some samples, and gave her suggestions. She came out with 3 different colors to color my hair with. She carefully "painted" my hair to make sure that all the colors would blend. She totally fixed my hair. I walked out so happy that I didn't have all these random colors/shades from previous colors. Her work was amazing. She doesn't jut slap it on and foil it up. She did a really great job. I've been going to Terra for a few years now after going to another salon in NH that completely damaged my hair and made it feel crunchy. They're incredibly knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and honestly just exceptional. The place is calm and inviting and incredibly clean. Everyone was very nice and the customer service was wonderful. The salon is clean and extremely comfortable. The reason for 3 stars is that I just didn't like the cut. My stylist was lovely, and we were chatting the entire time she was cutting, so maybe I had distracted her, but my request for below-the-shoulder length turned into up around my collar bone. It'll grow out but it's not what we had discussed nor the picture I had showed her. read more

My friend and I tried this salon together, and it was the first time for each of us. They fit us into back-to-back sessions with Mikayla less than 2 weeks in advance. Mikayla, as well as the other staff were all very kind and welcoming. Mikayla was fabulous! She did a phenomenal job on both of us. I think the best part was her really taking the time to explain to us each how to style our hair with our new cuts on our own and recommended products to use (even ones they did not carry). I gave Mikayla a very difficult job; turn my shaggy, grown out pixie cut disaster into something chic and youthful - and she did it! She is great at communication and technically skilled as well. She told me what she thought would look good, and I'm sure she would have been right, but I'm stubborn and so she went along with what I wanted rather than her first suggestion. She took my wants and needs to heart, prioritizing my taste over hers (even though she's clearly the expert here). I left with a haircut I am super excited to flaunt. I'm so pleased. I called Terra Salon looking to have my hair professionally done after my previous color grew out. They were able to schedule a consultation the next day and a formal appointment a few weeks later. The consultation went smoothly! I explained my concerns and shared all prior color treatments. My stylist was super confident and reassured me that the color I wanted would be no problem at all. Unfortunately my experience the day of was the complete opposite. My stylist asked if I had done anything since my consultation as it looked different; I had not. She went on to explain how difficult it would be to achieve the color I wanted; I had shown her the same reference picture during my consultation (even showed her multiple options and requested her opinion on which would work best). Soon after, one of the owners approached me with a form I was required to complete accepting the risk that the color I wanted might not work out. I understand it is difficult to work with dark, thick hair that has been colored before, however I was upset that this expectation was not set during my consultation but rather weeks later when I was actually sitting for the service. At that point it was too late to look for another appointment elsewhere so I took the risk. My hair color ended up being super brassy. Thankfully another stylist at a different salon was able to tone it and achieved the cool ashy brown color I had originally requested. read more

I had very damaged bleach blonde hair. I came in to see a new stylist, Mikayla Cotran. I told her I wanted to go to my natural color and she somehow came up with two different colors that is very similar to my natural color. She suggested a length that would look good and healthy since my hair was so thin from being damaged, and I absolutely love it. I botched my hair dying it a black color right before the day of my birthday. Terra salon is just a few minutes away from my house and the many positive reviews and happy clients made me think that they could fix my insanely color damaged hair. I called first thing in the morning right when they opened at 9am and spoke to Liz who was very sweet and was able to get me in with a stylist in just 3 hours. As time went by I became more and more excited to finally fix this disaster I had done to my beautiful hair. Michelle was my stylist and although it seemed like she knew what she was doing, she did not. After almost 5 hours of color remover, color corrector, dying, washing, and styling I was so excited to see the results. It wasn't until I she blow dried it straight that my hair seemed to be the EXACT same color I started off with but WORSE. Liz looked at my hair and said "it looks not too shabby" I questioned why my hair was 2 different colors and she said "It's very difficult to get black out"My roots were a reddish brown color while the ends were black. My hair was extremely coarse and dry but I still payed and left gratuity....in which by the way was a few hundreds of dollars! I then got into my car and instantly looked into the mirror and saw yellowish orange patches in the front and sides of my hair in neutral lighting. I have never been more upset in my entire life. How could someone let a client leave like this? I will NEVER be coming back to this place and I will be letting everyone know to not go here. read more

This salon is amazing!!! I saw Mikayla and she completely changed my very basic hair into a beautiful elaborate work of art!!!! I love it!!! I haven't stopped receiving compliments on it yet. I've had plenty of good and occasionally bad stylists in my life. What makes this salon better than most salons are two things: the atmosphere and the honesty. When you walk through the door, you are greeted by a friendly face who will make sure you are comfortable while you wait. It also helps that it smells really good in there and the magazine collection is diverse (everything from Bon Appetit to Popular Mechanics). A consultation at a typical salon is maybe a 3 minute conversation about the hairstyle you want that day while the stylist plays with your hair. A good stylist will make suggestions. What makes Edward great is that he's honest and explains why your hair does the crazy things it does. My hair has been significantly healthier since Edward started educating me on my nightmare hair. read more

this review is super overdue- ive been here 5 or 6 times so far for highlights and cuts and i love this place! short story: friendly front desk, complimentary beverages, excellent stylists, no high pressure upselling of services or products, reasonable pricing. very, very long story: My main stylist is Edward, the owner, and hes fantastic. To give some background on me as a client, i tend to need a stylist who i can trust to make decisions for me. i know what end product i want, but i find it hard to explain myself when a stylist asks specifics like if i want highlights or lowlights, ombre, what color specifically, so on. im never sure what those mean in relation to how theyll look on my hair, so a lot of the time a trip to the salon ends up frustrating because i think im asking for one thing i *do* like and it turns out its something i *dont* like. I dont ever have that problem with edward! When i had my first consult with Edward, we spent a long time really going through *exactly* what i wanted. He was incredibly thorough and patient, and explained things to me in ways i could understand. As an example, usually stylists talk about color like 'honey blonde' and terms that are subjective, which made for us often having very different ideas. When Edward and i talked about color, he would bring out hair swatches and say things like 'Here's about the shade your hair is now. When i hear you say *insert color*, this is the color i would think of. Here's about what shade that would look on your hair, does that sound like what you want?" It was SO MUCH more helpful! One of the things he says is that he wants to be on the same page so that the end product is exactly what you discussed- no surprises. Because hes so thorough, i feel like its a stress free experience for me. Once we establish what end product i want, i can let go and trust him to do his thing. Another thing i enjoy is that he is honest and straightforward. He wanted to know was what budget i was comfortable with and how often i wanted to go between appointments. When i admitted im not the most regular client both due to budget and schedule, and im lazy about hair care, he didn't make me feel judged. He explained that he wanted to make sure the cut and color would grow out gracefully and work with my life, rather than just look great in the salon and need a ton of upkeep and styling that id never do. I really appreciated that he respected my needs and was realistic about what would work, rather than making big promises that wouldn't have panned out. Edward also never hard sells products, which i love. If i like one, hes happy to tell me about it, and he'll make a suggestion if he thinks it would be good for me, but i never feel like im getting things shoved down my throat. Because of that, i truly feel like i can trust when he has an opinion on what services or products to use, because i know hes not just trying to turn a profit. Another example: During the last year, ive become a more regular client. The last time i was there, Edward brought up that ive been coming about every 8 weeks, which is more often than i originally did. He said that with the style of highlight and cut we've been doing, my hair can go probably 12 weeks between colors before it needs a redo. He said he was happy to keep doing every 8 weeks if that was what i wanted, but that if budget was still a concern for me, we could definitely go longer between visits. I was really blown away by that, because it would have been easy for him to say nothing and make more money, and instead he was more concerned with making sure i was getting the most value out of my visits. So thats a super long ramble, sorry! But i really do feel like this is a great salon, and id highly recommend it. read more

Anyways tonight was my second time at the salon Alisha is a miracle worker! She spends adeqate time getting my hair PERFECT. I have naturally long very curly hair and she took the time to wash, cut, blow-dry, and flat iron my hair and it looks wonderful! I recently went here to get a formal hair style. Although I have never been here before, I was excited to go to one of the best rated salons in Nashua. I was really underwhelmed with how the final product came out. The braids that she put in my hair came out frizzy and looked way smaller than the picture of what I wanted. Also, all the curls she put in my hair fell within an hour. All in all it looked like a hairstyle that I could have done myself and saved $70. With this being said, it does look like a nice salon with friendly staff, but maybe they should stick with colors and cuts. read more
