OH MY oh my.... I probably shouldn't post this review as 'Shoobee Season' is about to start, BUT this place is a hidden gem!!!!!! Our server Allison was a wealth of information and had PLENTY of drink, apps, entree and dessert recommendations and are we sooooo glad we listened to her!!!!!!!!! She recommended their burgers as "one of the best on LBI and not because I work here" and the Jersey Fries as "sinfully good". She was absolutely 1000% spot on. I've eaten like many of us probably wayyyyyy to many burgers in my life and this Pub Burger I ordered was probably the best I've EVER had. JUICY, flavorful... just WOW, didn't need a drop of ketchup and I LOVE KETCHUP!!!! The Jersey fries looked odd to me on the menu, but when in Rome right??? I'm soooooo glad I listened! My wife had the crab cake dinner and it was 2 very generous sized crab cakes that amazingly were predominantly crab meat and NOT filler/breading. This is one of our fav dinner spots on south side. Checked out their Happy hour and went to town with the dollar a shuck special for clams and oysters - they were super fresh and went well with lite beers and Chardonnay. Had to order two of the Terrace salads because it was too good to share. Servers were very attentive, made sure we never got thirsty. We wish this backyard was closer to ours. read more

Both our waitress and the manager gave us an extremely hard time about sending the food back, the manager saying "why did you take a bite out of it, I could've put it back on the grill for you". I love this place and have to say that our server Dan is the best. He not only has a great personality but is very helpful especially with our 7 month old granddaughter. I asked if he could bring me a cucumber for the baby as she is just starting to eat and he sliced the cucumbers into Spears and made Mia's day! Her parents were able to enjoy their dinners while she gummed on her cucumber. He is very knowledgeable about the different beers and we were served promptly with a smile. Our Meals were delicious. My daughter had the snow crab legs and my husband wished he had as well so we will be going back tomorrow night! Been going here for over 18 years under multiple owners - current owners redecorated, so they get points for atmosphere. Everything else has gone WAY down hill - they used to have great steam pots with lots of selections, including queen crab (which I had never heard of prior). These days however, the pots are over cooked, pre-measured, and stingy on the top items (crabs, lobster). The attached photo was $108 for ONE king crab leg. Ridiculous. The pot should contain kielbasa, corn, potatoes, clams, mussels, shrimp and one/two top item choices. I ordered an extra kielbasa sausage as a previous experience left me disappointed. Instead this pot had no kielbasa (which affected the taste, making it bland) and only one crab leg (not even a cluster). Garlic bread was a surprise, but whatever. When I said something about the missing kielbasa, the bartender said everything was premeasured and the kitchen staff was slammed, so he comp'ed us a couple of beers. Highly disappointed with the current ownership - I understand shore prices and all that during the season, but this was just insane for the price. While the service was good, the food and how it's prepared is not value for money. Won't return and I advise you all to go elsewhere on the island. read more

We understand every single challenge during covid, inclement weather, lack of cell service, EVERYTHING. We had an 8:30pm YELP reservation, requested anything earlier, and were repeatedly denied. We checked in after being asked 3 separate times from Terrace Tavern through their Yelp app if we still planned to come and reiterated once again (EACH time) that it was our plan to do so unless anything opened up earlier-- to let us know! They responded as of that moment that nothing was availabLe sooner. At 8:10pm we received yet another text saying that we could be accommodated sooner. We didn't respond since we were at that point in the way. Apparently, upon arrival we learned (after whomever said abruptly, "are you Susan?!", I left you a personal voicemail asking if you were coming... ) that would indeed explain the radio silence welcome we received at 8:22pm upon our arrival! ...EARLY. We are very sorry for all of the challenges these restaurants face but customer service is still the number one way to win compassion. Needless to say, you FAILED. 7 of us went out for birthday celebration. Somehow they lost our reservation. The place was packed at 7:00pm so they put a few tables together in bar area and seated us within 10 minutes. Great! Only problem, the seats are high and not good for older patrons. We made due. The drinks were way over priced. 2 Tito's and ginger w lime garnish was $19. 1 Patron margarita $14.50, add a Grand mariner floater $3 extra. 2 glasses of wine, De Mer Rose $20. More $$$ than an entire bottle. Terrace nachos was $16 Dinners were nothing to write home about. A fried shrimp basket, or PO BOY, should always come with fries AND coleslaw. We had to pay extra for side of slaw. Broiled seafood platter was small for $32. Plate had a large crab cake to cover the plate. A salad with 6 small pieces of flank steak was $23. Not even a free desert for birthday girl. Carrot cake $9. The bill was just under $400, add $40 tip for GREAT waitress, and we could have had an amazing, over the top celebration at our beach rental. This place is disgusting! Do not eat here! I went with my niece, sister and Mom to have a nice lunch while we were on LBI for a week in August. They wanted Lobsters and we heard this place was good.We sat at an outside table and noticed there were a lot of flies around. The menu claimed "Warning - our burgers are the best!! Juicy, Messy and cooked to order". Being a burger fiend and a non-seafood eater, I ordered one medium rare. The others had the advertised lobster lunch special and asked that the kitchen crack them. The waitress warned them that even if there was roe in the lobster, the restaurant would not take them back.We should have been wary having been warned of a problem before we even got the food. There were very few people here as it was mid to late afternoon on a weekday. Inside, there were a few people sitting at the bar and one or two tables occupied. We were the only people eating outside. Even so, it took a very long time to get our food. As soon as the food arrived, we were literally swarmed with flies on us, the table and on our food and had to keep swatting them away. The butter served with the lobster was clearly not real butter but some oily concoction. The lobster that they served to my niece was covered with green lobster poop. We complained to the waitress and she claimed it was the roe. It was NOT the roe. It was gross lobster excrement! My niece is no stranger to lobster and knows the difference between roe and poop. She grew up on the water on Long Island and has been eating lobster since she was a baby. All she wanted for her 6th birthday was her first whole lobster. She was revolted and could not eat her lunch. (See Picture 20) My fairly pricey burger came out totally well-done and dried out. I told the waitress and she said they could re-make it but it would take 10 minutes. I said never mind, I didn't want to wait that long as I had come to enjoy lunch eating with my family. She said I could take it to go. It tried to eat it but it was so dry I was literally choking on it as I tried to eat it. (See Picture 19) Attention Crabshack; #1-If a patron has to send something back, put the remake at the front of the queue. #2-If you think a medium rare burger takes 10 minutes to cook, no wonder they come out overdone. #3-If I came to your restaurant to enjoy a meal with my family, don't offer me the the simplest item to cook on the menu that I ordered that your chef couldn't cook right to take out. #4-Don't serve food with doody on it. I could actually see Woodys II from where I was sitting which has a far better burger at half the price that comes cooked as you ordered it. This lunch was unpleasant, inedible and cost over $100 to boot. There are plenty of places to go on LBI. Do not come here! read more

HORRIBLE!!! We came here in search of blue crabs only to find out none was offered! We decided to stay bc we didn't want to drive around. Big mistake! They are way way way overpriced and the food wasn't even that good. The only thing that we all enjoyed was the sweet potato fries (which were $7 for a side!!) Who charges that much for a side of fries! It wasn't even a large side of fries. Here's what we ordered.... Fried pickle chips - yuck. So salty and wasn't even crispy. It was like it was sitting there soaking under the heat lamp forever! Conch fritters - Where's the conch!? Fried flounder sandwich- fish tasted fresh, but my sandwich had nothing on it! No lettuce, tomato, NOTHING!!! It was so bland. I asked the server where everything was and she stated that most people don't like it with that stuff so they don't put it on. Hello....don't compare me to most people. Put what's supposed to be on it and I'll decide to take it off if I don't like it. Buffalo burger - over cooked piece of meat thrown on bread...again with no lettuce or tomato. Burger w/goat cheese (forget the name)- this is the only thing that actually came out right. Had lettuce and such and cooked right! Soup- The clam chowder was ok. Didn't taste homemade, but it was decent. Not sure how my neice's crab bisque was. She said it was good. Mussles in red sauce - bland! Drinks - The strawberry mojito was delicious. The frozen drink tasted like they put no alcohol in it. Anyway...save your money and go elsewhere. Terrace Tavern is a warm and inviting place to dine with family and friends. We planned a wonderful rehearsal dinner at the tavern with the help of the owners. Everything from the appetizers, drinks from the bar, to the main course was delicious and perfect. We loved the atmosphere of the tavern from the inside bar area to the outside lighted and tented seating area with fire pits and potted flowers. The staff was friendly and courteous. The crab cakes and deviled eggs with crab appetizer were favorites of everyone attending the rehearsal dinner. We had an incredible time and an awesome event. Thank you to the owners and staff of the Terrace Tavern. We will be back on our next visit to LBI. read more
