We went to Terrapin last weekend and were very pleased with the beer and the service. We bought two sets of tickets for four people (which gave us 12 beer tastings). The place was not packed on a Friday afternoon, and we were able to stand at one of the bar tops and try several different beers. Alex (Alec?) was helping us and was fantastic at explaining the beers and the history behind the company. He offered a tour and we said we had only a brief time before we had to be somewhere else. He gave us a fabulous, abbreviated tour of the back-of-the-house. Fun, friendly people and a variety of SUPER FRESH AND COLD beer. Loved it. read more

I came here for the tour and had a blast. The tour itself is a bit short (seemed like it lasted ten minutes tops...and half the tour was about Georgia's beer laws). They were not making beer, so maybe that is why. From that perspective, it was a bit disappointing. The tour did only cost $12 and included six six-ounce samples of beer. The bartenders were extremely friendly, as was the tour guide. All in all, I would say it was 100% worth the money. Maybe I need to come back for the tour when they are making beer. read more

This was my second visit to Tarrapin and I had a great time. The ticket system mentioned in other reviews is accurate. My tip for that would be always use only 1 ticket at a time. You will receive more beer this way. read more

Great fun! $20 gets you a glass and 8 tickets for the 4oz pour of your choice. (Or 4 tickets for a full pour) Brewery tour available... meh. Indoor and outdoor space makes it good for any weather. Keep an eye out for live music - a lot of local groups, so it can be hit or miss. Fun & relatively cheap 2 hours of entertainment. read more

You will always find a great crowd here and possibly a concert. They have weekly beer brews as well as some of the old favorites. You pay $10 and they give you tickets to redeem for beer half-pints. The $10 also gets you a free pint glass to drink out of. Also a great place to go for your birthday since you get in FOR FREE!! Be careful and make sure to get in early as the lines get long quick and they are only open from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. They also give tours of the brewery every few minutes. read more

Great brewery and they produce some great beer. However I am very bummed that they didn't send Atlanta a supply of of White Chocolate Moo Hoo this year. All of the suppliers I have talked to haven't seen it at all, yet other states have seen an ample supply of it. read more

Terrapin Brewery is a great place to start off your weekend. Just a few $$ gets you a commemorative glass (need I say we have several) and a bunch of tickets that you take to the counter to exchange for half-glass pours. All volunteers pouring and giving the hysterical and lovable tours, with toss a cross and lots of tables set up. Also, live music on the weekends. And, a pretty admirable variety of beers to taste at any given time. Seasonal, though, so you have to go every now and then to taste them all :-) read more

A fun place to go, and you don't have to pay to sample the beer. Georgia code 560-2-7-.01 allows anyone to visit a brewery and sample beers for free, and you definitely want to sample everything they have. There are usually six beers on tap at any one time. If you do the free tasting, you get a very small sample cup. An even better deal if you are an Athens local is that if you purchase a tour glass, you can forever use it on any other tours. So for ten dollars, you can get 32 ounces of beer four times a week for free, forever. Plus free live music and brewery tours. This includes even the big events like their anniversary party. They always ask at the door that you purchase a new glass, but they cannot make you do it. $10, then free beers for life is an amazing deal. I love Terrapin beer! If you live in Athens or are visiting on a nice sunny weekend it's a great place to get together with big groups of people to enjoy some afternoon brews. They have live music and a huge lawn for people to spread out and lay blankets or play corn hole. Dogs and children are welcome as the atmosphere is pretty family oriented, despite the large college crowd. On the downside, it is somewhat out of the way from downtown, so if your planning to go continue drinking after visiting the brewery (which you probably will want to) make sure you have a safe and sober ride, The location of the brewery also serves as a great DUI trap for local law enforcement so be responsible. Other than that, I highly recommend it! read more

Our friends hosted their rehearsal dinner here and it was fantastic. They imprinted their last name on all of the cups that we all took home. The beer was delicious and the servers were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely would recommend a visit here to anyone in Athens. read more

This place is awesome. We drove from Jacksonville, FL to check it out and get away. Kind of disappointed there's nothing special on tap but their regular beers are more than good enough. As a tip for anyone else I recommend you get the sample of the beer instead of the full glass as it works out in your favor. No food here on a Thursday night. read more

Delicious. Hands down best brewery in GA. There are some experimental brews that you can't get in stores, so that's pretty exciting. Otherwise, getting the classics from the source is a fun experience. read more
