The Grizzly Rose takes pride in providing live country music, five nights per week. During my visit on a Saturday night, I enjoyed listening and dancing to the music of Duey & Unbroken. The 40,000 square feet of this country dance hall is impressive. Surprisingly, only 2,500 square feet is allocated to the dance floor. This is too small for the demand placed on it during a Saturday night. The front half of the dance floor is devoted to country swing dancing, while the back half is reserved for line dancing. This leaves no room for progressive partner dancing, i.e., two-step (as is normal across Texas). Country swing could not have been the prevailing form of partner dancing here since the inception of this honky-tonk in 1989. So, what year did it displace two-step? I enjoyed the line dance lesson at 7 p.m., followed by the country swing dance lesson at 8:15 p.m. Strangely, two-step is how the opening pattern taught for country swing, before it abruptly switches to country swing. Yet, they refer to all of this as country swing. This supports my suspicion that country swing hijacked two-step at some point in the history of this honky-tonk. If this is how locals here are brought up on country dancing, they're in for a surprise, if and when they go to honky-tonks across Texas, where two-step prevails. Given how crowded the dance floor gets, they might consider expanding it by another 1,000 feet or more. Then it might be possible to spare enough room on the perimeter to bring back progressive partner dancing (two-step, three-step, partner cowboy cha-cha, etc.). The main seating and walkways are concrete ground, which can wear on your feet. Therefore, I doubt the average person lasts more than a few hours of dancing before throwing in the towel.

Our friend took us to this place, and it is clear this would be a regular spot for us if we lived here. You enter from the northeast end of the building, go through security, and pay your entry fee (which I think was $15 on a Friday night). We wound through the main dance hall that had some dark, artsy vibe before going through the T-shaped hallway that revealed some private group rooms with red lighting, before a large birdcage space appeared before us that you enter through the other bar area -- which I didn't realize until I made it to the other bar area to see the doorway. I thought there was a lock with a large key that I was missing. But I digress. The Negronis were on point, and I enjoyed them outside as the weather was fine and not freezing or hot. The service was fast, but it wasn't packed yet at 10 PM local time, so maybe give it an hour or two; then it may be a different story. There are two bar areas for the record, with the first one by the entrance where you arrived. The Mockingbird is definitely a lot of fun to enjoy.

It was my first night in Denver, and I was waiting for a friend to fly in, so I went to the show solo. When I arrived, just before the opening band began, there was a short line outside. Security was quick and friendly. The place was absolutely huge, and sort of looked like an artsy warehouse. There was a large viewing area in front of the stage. I liked how open and unobstructed it was. Also, there was plenty of opportunity to see the stage even if you were not in the main floor viewing area, as the layout was so open. I waited in the swag line, which also went quickly. There was no line at the bar. My drink was less than $10! Honestly, prices like that are unheard of in most of the music venues I frequent... so I had another. The crowd was friendly and well-mannered, which probably can be attributed to both the venue and the band. I was able to walk up to the front of floor area and had a close-up view of the show. Reelworks is a great venue. I saw the publicity posters and it looked like they had a lot of great shows coming up. If I lived in Denver, I would probably be there all the time. All in all, it was a perfect venue for an amazing show!

The event was 21+, so it was perfect because the backyard area was gated off for 21+ patrons. The inside had a bunch of vendors, and then the center was turned into a glow in the dark like roller rink. We got to rent skates w/ glowing wheels, which upped the vibe while DJ Cyn and other bands & DJs did live sets to skate to. DJ Cyn was top-notch as usual, giving us great vibes as usual while every skated. There were cool lit bars all over the venue so you could get a drink of your choice. While you were not skating on the outskirts of the roller rink there were a bunch of local vendors to buy stuff from, like cool graphic t-shirts, to hats, bags, art work etc. The back yard /courtyard area per se had some food vendors too. The hot one was a fresh pizza oven that had the best food. Also there was Bodega w/ their amazing international snacks and R.Lamar clothing, ya know I had to cop a fire Tarheels shirt from him. Over I gave this event there a 9.5 only because I didn't get to skate a lot. Over it was a success.

For us,…read moreit was one of the "Jazz Room" series: A joinery to the heart of New Orleans and we absolutely had nothing negative things to say about it as the experience last night was fantastic. It was a show with seats. Our tickets were in zone A where we were able to sit pretty much right in front of the stage/band. Wow! The staff upfront who scanned our tickets were welcoming and one of them took us to our section. She also showed us where the main bar and the restrooms etc. were m. Very organized and courteous system to say the least. The bar area was also organized, very clean and quite spacious. The lady who assisted us (for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon; it was a very decent Cab!!) had a warm smile. She welcomed us. Very polite indeed. The show started right on time at 8pm. The 5 talented musicians entertained us occasionally incorporating talks with funny elements. They also encouraged us to be part of the songs; we thus sang along with them. The kind of crowd we had was my age range (mostly in their early to late 50's or a bit older in their 60's. My 25-yr old daughter was definitely one of the youngest people in the audience. Everyone was courteous to others; very laid back atmosphere indeed.) The show was only 1 hour with no encore (so you'll be out the door by 9:10pm unless you linger.) That was the only bummer thing about it but other than that, it was a night of magical vibes where we felt like slipping into the old jazz era of 1920's. It's funny. After living in the greater Denver area for 28 years, it was my very first visit to this venue. Despite the very low ratings of only 2.5 stars as of late January 2026, my first impression for this one of the iconic places is near 5-star rating. I can't wait to attend more shows at this place in the future.

What your JOB IS to make sure there aren't 1) weapons or 2) drugs meant for **distribution** (i.e., large quantities). That is it, dummys. The god complex is very pathetic to experience. Leave people with their personal meds alone and don't touch private parts. This is one spot where they are taking their positions WAY too far and beyond and it ain't that serious. The venue itself is fun and has quite a few different rooms to hang out in. The main floor has SO many people PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR which is sooooo anoyyyiinggg. It's like these kids just wanna be or say they're "at the club" but they don't actually even "club". Go to the back and stand. Don't stand right in front of the damn DJ. They do have lots of popular DJs here and often more the type of music I'm personally into. The real popular ones, though, are so high up all you can see is a shadow of a person--amazing, lol. If you have the luxury of a car, leave anything remotely questionable in there. I don't ever drive here so I have to try and think hard before leaving my home since I can't even bring Aleve or Benadryl without them causing an issue (which is something I have literally never once before in my entire life going anywhere EVER have had to think about). When you get your door staff's crap together, maybe there will be another update.
