I had a very disappointing experience because of the host. I was initially offered a seat on a couch that was directly next to another party, and I politely said I would rather wait for a table instead. A few minutes later, I watched him seat two parties who had arrived after me. I then spoke with another hostess and told her I was happy to sit anywhere except the couch. She even said she didn't know why I had been skipped. She went to ask the host, and when she came back she confirmed that he had intentionally skipped me. I also overheard him make an inappropriate comment after she questioned him about it. While I couldn't hear every word, it was obvious from the interaction that he had deliberately passed me over because I declined the original seating option. There is a huge difference between politely declining one specific seat and giving up your place in line. The host's attitude was rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. The other hostess handled the situation professionally and was kind, but this host's behavior left an incredibly poor impression. I hope management addresses how guests are treated, because no customer should be spoken about or treated that way. If you get WHITNEY as your server, you are blessed. She was an incredible server from beginning to end! In the first few minutes of her greeting us she was so bubbly, kind, and welcoming. Let me start by saying my food experience would've left me giving no stars if I could, but because our server was the goddess she is - I had to upgrade to 5 stars. I ordered the steak frites med rare with sweet potato fries. The first dish took about 45 mins to an hr to come out. I thought, the airport is a busy place it's not a big deal. Unfortunately, when I finally got my food it was very cold. Everything on tasted like it has been sitting there for the whole 45 mins. I let our server know and she immediately apologizes and gets it remade for me. The second time it comes out (now well over an hour since I ordered initially), it's overcooked. Looked like they simply put it back on the grill, but I could be wrong. At this point my partner has already ordered and eaten two separate dishes while I was starving. Whitney felt really bad and I told her I was going to just get food somewhere else and not to worry. Not only did she take it off the bill without me asking, but they came back and gave me a THIRD steak I didn't request. Unfortunately, it came with the wrong fries and no chimichurri. The steak was cooked med-rare as asked so I did end up eating that part. There were also no carrots. She then comes back with a dessert and a healthy magnesium drink on the house to take with me. I mean cmon, talk about fantastic service! I feel service in general has really gone down since covid, but there are still amazing people who seem to really care about what they do and she's one of them. That's what legit customer service is all about and you bet your ass we overtipped her! Bad things can happen, but if you know how to show your customers you care that's all that matters and instead of leaving with a negative outlook on my first visit to Rootdown- I'd actually give it another chance. That's why I'm giving 5 stars instead of 1. Rootdown--give that woman a raise! Steak frites- even when the steak was finally cooked properly, it was mediocre and the accompanying sauces did not complement it well. Yum! For airport food, this was one of the better spots we've tried. We stopped in just before lunchtime, which worked out perfectly since we were able to order from the breakfast/brunch menu. We got the Denver breakfast sammies, and they were HUGE and delicious. The breakfast potatoes were warm and perfectly seasoned--definitely a highlight. The only minor downside was that the English muffins weren't toasted, but everything else made up for it. We were seated quickly, the staff was extremely friendly, and the food came out fast. I also got a side of half avocado and 2 scrambled eggs which were hearty and just what I needed :-). Service was friendly and quick to take my order. Dining in would take 10 minutes and 45 minutes to get your order which they provided this disclaimer when you were being put on the waitlist. Great food as always even has a kids menu. The Buddha bowl is bursting with fresh flavors from edamame, watermelon radish, Sprouts, beets and cukes. The peanut sauce has a bit of a kick to it. The chicken tenders and fries for kids are very crispy. The portions seem very generous especially the Buddha bowl, which I barely made a dent and packed most of it to go. The restaurant itself could use some TLC. The floors are sticky and the seats have seen better days (some seating pads are ripped at places). Service was top notch from start to finish and the server was on top of everything. Food and drinks came out fast despite busy lunchtime. Overall, a good experience at DIA for a family meal. Root Down is, without a doubt, the best food I've ever had in an airport. The folks at the host stand seated me quickly in a cute little table right by the front walkway--GREAT for people-watching. My server brought me water quickly, and gave me great advice to try the noodle bowl over the farro Caesar salad, despite it being the Ides of March. The kefir peanut dressing was a little spicy, perfectly balanced, and everything was obviously incredibly fresh. This was a real oasis for my 2 hour layover. I was just going to get a drink but the friendly bartenders made it comfortable to add food. He checked on my flight time and relayed typical time to get food, and it came quickly as promised. I wouldn't hesitate to get more adventurous next time. everyone around me was raving about the food, the salmon bowl, etc. The menu is fresh, healthy but also cravable. Vegan and GF are clearly marked. The long beer list is put together thoughtfully. Prices are very reasonable. Full bar too. I love the business class like ergonomic tables for one, theres a space thought of for suitcases and that was pretty cool! We were doing a long layover at Denver Airport so we decided perhaps we should have some dinner. After looking up all the options in our area near our departure gate, we decided Root down DIA would be our choice. It's kind of in the main open area of the terminals with Southwest flights. There's a bar area and it's pretty open so it's not the quietest of areas. We were seated pretty quickly near the front. After perusing the menu which had a variety of options we decided on a Buddha bowl with crispy chicken and Banh mi turkey burger with sweet potato fries. I am so glad we got the dressing on the side as it was definitely more "spicy" for my mom who cannot handle spicy food. The bowl was very large and could easily feed 2 people. The banh mi turkey burger was surprisingly good. The fries were okay. Service was okay. Our water refill was kind of lacking. We easily paid with a credit card. The home fries were a nice combination of purple potatoes, white ones and sweet potatoes, which were very good. The green chili was fine but nothing to write home about the restaurant is a cute place, however, they have sports playing, which is annoying something more appealing to all clientele would be preferred. If I see Root Down at an airport, my food decision is made. The fact that they have multiple solid vegan options automatically puts them at the top of my airport restaurant list. Plenty of comfortable table seating, a nice bar setup, and an atmosphere that feels way more relaxed than most airport spots. I cannot remember what I used to order here but I remember liking this place. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I ate here during a layover. And it's not like what I remember. Honestly, I was so pleasantly surprised by this restaurant in the Denver Airport. Every dish they have has just a little fun and delicious twist to it. It seems like the chefs here have really put a lot of thought into the menu. The kale Caesar was so delicious and the addition of the Miso to the Caesar dressing gave it a really good umami kick. And the Thai carrot curry soup had little bits of Asian pear in it, which added both a really nice texture and a great caramelized contrast to the creamy soup. The combinations that they put together here just really work. The soup is absolutely something I'm going to be trying to recreate at home. Finally, the server we had was absolutely incredible. I cannot remember her name but we watched her sit down to chat with young children to get their orders from them, speaking to them as if they were adults. What a pleasant, delicious, eclectic gem in concourse C. I'm so glad I was able to stop in at Rootdown! The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Cammy was my server and she was knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, and was so thoughtful. I can't say enough about her service! She was stellar and definitely matched the energy of the restaurant! The atmosphere is so chill. Music was a vibe and they had some vintage decoration throughout the dining area. The staff were all very pleasant and seemed to enjoy working with one another. I was able to enjoy the Pozole soup, Farro Salad and Sweet plantains. Each one was gluten free and vegetarian friendly. The soup was a bit spicy, but really good and hearty. I've never had avocado or radishes in a soup but it worked! The salad had a miso paste that lined the plate and brought a richness and fullness to every bite. The dressing had a smooth umami flavor and the fresh almonds gave the dish a crunch. The sweet plantains Forget about it! They were cooked to perfection, tender, moist, and crispy on the outside. I wanted to take some to go but I knew that I wouldn't be able to make it on the plane without dropping them. lol The only thing I didn't like about the restaurant was that I had to leave. Lol. & I wish I could have eaten more but Denver doesn't allow you to smash like you want. The elevation curbs your appetite. (Boo!) Other than that, this is a 10/10 recommend! read more

I looked up a place to eat at the airport and was surprised to see how many reviews and good rating an airport restaurant has. So I must tried. The restaurant is small, in a corner and very easy to find since it is in the center. Obviously all the food here was super expensive. For two of us, we spent $150+ roughly. But also because my bf decided to get a bottle of wine $44 that would cost $10 outside. The duck wings 5/5 were phenomenal. I never had duck wings in this case before. 6 pcs for $24 though. But they were in a Korean fried style with soy sauce and super crispy. Shoyu ramen 3/5 had way too much ginger though. The broth was fantastic and on point. It was rich and herby. I wish they took all the ginger pieces out. I couldn't see ducks at all, there were barely any. There were more bacon pieces than duck pieces. The boiled egg was sweet, and sour. It was marinated in some sort of fruity way and not just soy sauce. I did like the ramen except for how little toppings there were but plenty of ginger. Service was great. My water was refilled constantly and I have no complaints. read more

Farm to table fresh food at the airport?!!! Yes please!!! Was early for my flight and decided to grab lunch. Place was super busy but the service was great. Cool decor inside with a nice view of the runway (watch planes take off and land while eating). Small menu, wish they had more options. Went with the burger and sweet potato fries. All was delicious. My wife and I were in Concourse C of Denver International Airport on Oct. 9, 2025. We decided to go to Root Down DIA for lunch. There was no waiting line. My wife was in a wheelchair and the hostess directed us to a table near her hostess station. We were able to easily push her up to the table. My wife ordered the Banh Mi Turkey Burger with cross-cut sweet potato fries for $20.25 and I ordered the Pork Carnitas Tacos for $17. My wife said the burger and fries tasted very good. My tacos (there are two in a serving) very also very good, with the sauce dripping down my hand as I ate the taco. They included avocado slices on top. If you know anything about avocados, they turn from green to brown quickly and my avocados had some brown spots, as you can see in my attached image. The ambiance was typical of an airport eat-in establishment. Lots of tables and lots of luggage by the tables. Our server, Julie, took great care of us and we tipped her accordingly. Would I go back? Sure, but not until we've tried many of the other restaurants that are also at Denver's airport. read more

Root Up DIA location of the similarly named Denver restaurant, both of which are run by the Denver-based Edible Beets restaurant group, who own five restaurants throughout the area. They have a great ethos of having a Veggie-forward menus using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients and humanely raised animals for their proteins. They also abide by the strict Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Seafood Watch" guide for sustainable seafood options. The Good: *Located in Terminal C which is the Southworst Terminal *They also have a grab-and-go items outside re restaurant if you don't have time to sit down. *Friendly service *Local beer on-tap, as well as a full bar. *Lots of gluten-free and vegan options *The Korean BBQ Duck Wings were unbelievably delicious. Meatier than the typical chicken wings, and a crispy exterior that was coated in a sweet and spicy sauce that was lip-smackingly good. If they're on the menu--get 'em!! *The Soup and 1/2 Salad combo is a great deal at $18 and a shit-ton of food. The Farro Caesar had a lot of flavor and the Salmon add-on ($10) was cooked perfectly and gave the girl the protein she needed. *Lamb sliders were cooked perfectly and were deliciously seasoned and went great with the bacon and Sriracha aioli. The Meh: *Thai Carrot Curry Soup needed a bit more seasoning but the flavor was good and got better the more you ate. The Ugly: *The only reason we had time to dine here was due to flight delays, which in retrospect, turned out to be a good thing because of this place. So thank you for that. Conclusion: Not your ordinary airport food, as this was elevated Colorado cuisine at it's finest. Highly recommended if you have a few hours to kill between flights. Service was good and food came out pretty quickly. Ordered the duck wings to share as an app and it was pretty flavorful. It was fried pretty hard so the meat was a little tough. For my entree I chose the BBQ pork bahn mi and it was just OK. It was really lacking any meat and the bread wasn't anywhere near as good as a crusty French baguette should be. The sweet potato fries were good, but wasn't a fan of the sauce (a little too tart). Too many other choices at this airport to return anytime soon. read more

We stopped here before our flight. We enjoyed people watching in Terminal C while having the best airport breakfast I've ever had. I loved the small menu and the fresh ingredients. The Standard Breakfast was just the right portion size. The eggs were fluffy and delicious and I asked for them to add cheddar cheese. The fried potatoes were delicious as well. The blood orange mimosa was good but I don't know if it was worth $15 (almost as much as my entree). The croissant was a disappointment and it was stale and not fluffy or very buttery. It happened to be in the concourse we were in so that took care of that choice. I have to say we were both pretty impressed. We started with the wings which were delicious. Messy, spicy but delicious. I ordered the soup and 1/2 salad. I got the Thai carrot curry soup which was good. It grew on me the more I ate it. But the star for me was the farro Caesar salad. I ate a lot of salads during my trip and this one was easily the best. So good! The service was great as well which isn't common when it comes to airport restaurants. Whenever I have a layover in Denver, I always stop at Root Down in Terminal C. It's a great spot that offers a lively vibe and great food! The first time I ever stopped in, I was looking for gluten free and dairy free food options. They offered menu items and customizations to meet both needs! They have both gluten free sandwich bread and burger buns--and it's only a $1 upcharge!!!! The staff is super friendly at the bar top--where I usually sit since I travel solo a lot. They've seen my face so many times now, they actually recognize me nowadays! As time allows, they will chit chat a bit, but they are always on the ball when it comes to making sure my food is enjoyable and that I never have to ask for a refill. I was disappointed because I've been here before and really enjoyed getting a good cocktail at the airport, but today the cocktails were mediocre and very sweet. It almost tasted like they were missing ingredients. I got a pineapple cucumber cocktail that just tasted like pineapple juice, my partner got a gin drink that was also lacking subtlety. The staff were very friendly and clearly moving quickly but also seemed like maybe they were short staffed that day. They were also out of a lot of things, wines, beers, and it jicama for the hummus plate? I always like sitting on the bar that faces out to the terminal, which were able to sit at, so points for ambiance.
