I've been to several jinya locations, and always enjoy their ramen. So when I saw a place in Denver while I was there, I made a point of stopping in. This location is a little bigger than some of the others I've been to, with plenty of high tops and some regular tables. The interior is dark, but it works in this setting. I know there are a lot of things on the menu, but I always go for the vegan creamy miso ramen, with no spice. And a side of mushrooms (kikurage) and fresh garlic. The noodles are perfectly al dente and the broth with the toppings just works. The only small downside on this visit was that the restaurant wasn't busy, yet the wait staff kind of forgot about us. But it all worked out, so it wasn't a big deal. read more

I craved ramen so we walked here for lunch at about 12:30 p.m. A bit loud and dark inside so we opted to sit on the patio: my brother and husband and I. Jade our server was excellent: attentive, friendly, communicative. My husband ordered a voodoo ranger beer and a birria ramen with an added egg. My brother and I both chose the premium tonkatsu red ramen and chose spiciness level 5 (a bit spicy for him, perfect for me). I added broccolini on top which they roasted perfectly. Excellent service by my server, Izabel, and the overall Jinya team. Restaurant was pretty quiet when I showed up but got busy shortly thereafter. Plenty of staff members that were prompt with taking orders and also offered a rundown of the menu too. The flying violette cocktail was excellent - refreshing and tasty, definitely give it a try if you were eyeing it! I opted for the tonkotsu original 2010 ramen which tasted great but had a lot of minced garlic which I was not expecting. While it tasted great, the menu did not make it clear it would be mostly a garlic forward ramen. I probably would have gone with the classic tonkotsu black instead if I had known. Went here after the Rocky's game last night. It was busy. We waited 20 minutes for a table, not terrible. Food was good. I ordered the Flying V harvest vegetarian ramen. It definitely had a kick to it. It was really good. Loved the noodles in this but the broth was a little too spicy for me personally. My friend ordered a spicy chicken ramen & loved it. We also ordered pork gyoza. It was good but it took forever to come out. We were done eating ramen by the time this came out. Same with our order of crispy chicken. We didn't love the crispy chicken. The other two noodle options were wheat based so I couldn't get ramen with my wheat intolerance. Our waitress kindly offered to give me a bowl of rice instead of noodles with a ramen bowl but that didn't sounds good so I got one of their rice bowl dishes instead. The rice bowl was fine but I wouldn't recommend it. There wasn't much sauce and so I had to heavily augment with the sauces on the table and the toppings to rice ratio was very rice heavy. The broth of my partner's ramen bowl I had though was amazing. Delicious with a complex umami profile. Their ramen is the star don't deviate. The waitress also told many groups around us that they were out of various things. Unfortunately, the food was still pretty average, especially for the price. My ramen, the special Tokyo Yatai Classic, was good, though I would still prefer a thicker noodle. The others at the table ordered the chicken chashu bowl and the garlic rice plate, which was new at the time of this review. Both of them said their dishes were average at best, but they both enjoyed the appetizers we ordered. In my option, it's the best ramen restaurant in proximity to Union Station. Been coming here for a decade or so and it's been consistently great. The decor is actually very cool with the giant mural. It seems to be busy often and the menu has new signature appetizers and ramen just about monthly. It's still solid after so many years. As far as food, the ramen is great and comes down to the flavor you are have an appetite for. One noodle that is quite delicious but hidden on the menu is the kale noodle. Drinks are also delicious with my favorite being the Smoked Old Fashioned. Staff is in most cases on top of it, super rare for a mishap. They are very attentive too. When you are hungry in downtown Denver near Union Station look across the street to find Jinya Ramen Bar. A beautiful restaurant that has a full bar a decor that is relaxing to help you unwind! The food is amazing and they have happy hour from 3 pm to 6 pm, Mon-Sun, that includes appetizers. We ordered sake for only $6 which was enough for 2 people to share. The food is excellent and the service is pleasantly nice! The salmon taco appetizer is small but tasty that will make you excited for your meal! The rice bowls are large and delicious! I popped us onto the waitlist while finishing up at a Christmas party and our table was ready right as we arrived. Parking can be tricky in downtown but we were all able to find a meter--free on Sundays. It's a busy spot but I like the ambiance. Staff was fabulous. Potstickers, Brussels sprouts, edamame all delicious. I had the Premium Tonkotsu Red and it was delightful. You are able to select your own spice level out of 10, and the server mentioned that it runs very hot. I typically cover all of my food in hot sauce and a 3 was perfect + some crunchy chili oil. I can't even imagine what a 10 would feel like on the tongue. Be warned. The flavor was INSANE. They always have the most perfectly tender pork, and it's not super fatty which I love. Came here for lunch to use a gift card we got a while back. We were seated immediately and our wait staff was very prompt with attending to us which was great! Had higher hopes, but the food was just "eh" to me. It was decent ramen, but for the price and being located downtown I was hoping for something with a little more "wow" factor. The rice wasn't all that crisp and felt a little gummy in the middle, or like it was kinda just globbed together and fried on the outside. The fish flavor didn't stand out all that much either. Overall, sure I guess I'd come back if I was already in downtown and really craving ramen, but not somewhere I'm going to go out of my way to visit. It's in the Union Station area, so parking can be tough depending on what time of day but there is valet parking offered in front of the station. This spot has plenty of seating with moody lighting (at least at night, ha). The staff was very friendly and we were sat at the bar. We ordered the birria and wonton ramens. I had the wonton ramen. The wontons were packed with shrimp and chicken. The noodles were thicker and yummy. The overall flavor was okay. We were craving something warm and spicy, I saw JINYA Ramen Bar had a lot of great reviews. I'm so glad we went. I made sure the Spicy Creamy V Ramen has the black garlic and I was sold. The broth is rich, especially for a vegan option, and had a nice spice. I added a little more with the gyoza sauce on the table, which wasn't what I expected, more of a chili oil and so good. The noodles have that perfect chew, and the mix of tofu and greens makes the bowl feel super satisfying without getting heavy. I'd heard great things about Jinya and came with a friend who had been before. The wait on a Friday night was quite long, which was not surprising. The interior of the restaurant was pretty cool and had a lively atmosphere. My friends and I got a bottle of wine and started with some of the spicy tuna wonton tacos, these were tastey and I loved the crunch of the shell. The fun thing about this spot is that you could totally customize your ramen. I ended up getting the jinya tonkotsu original ramen, but swapping out the spinach for bok choy and adding some crispy onions. We went here because it was cold and ramen seems like a great Idea, not only that but the Google reviews drew our attention. Went in and the wait was very long so we thought ok this place has to be real good. We were able to find seat at the bar and they had the full menu. Our server was great and opened up by welcoming us and recommending some of her favorites. Sitting at the bar was honestly the best and worst decision. Seeing one of the bartenders cleaning the glasses really struck and didn't let me enjoy drinking my water. There was no pre rinsing of the cups prior to putting them in the cup steamer, which went to the cups coming out of the dishwasher with either fruit or something stuck in them. Then seeing him using a rag to wipe these cups and putting that rag on the counter behind him and reusing it for a second run in the washer and maybe more after that really didn't sit well with me specially since my cup has a smudge of something still in it from poor cleaning. The bartender saw me making a face when I saw the dirty cups come out of the washer and rinse the one I was staring at but later saw him just rinse a different load with stuff stuck in it and cleaning it with the same towel that was never changed.Now getting to the food the chicken was bland the ramen broth was not what I expected from such a high rated restaurant. Paying the fee for box choy and only getting 3 leaves was very disappointing. The crispy tuna was decent and the Jinya bun was ok. I guess I just couldn't get over the cup cleaning out of my head. 2 Stars and that's generous JINYA Ramen Bar Downtown Denver This was a puzzling, disappointing, and frankly sad ramen experience especially given this restaurant's popularity and reputation. I ordered the pork ramen, and it arrived bland, watery, and utterly devoid of depth. There was no umami, no pork richness, no fish presence, no layered savoriness--nothing that would suggest a carefully built broth. JINYA promotes slow-simmered broths, but if this was truly slow-simmered, then I must completely misunderstand what flavor is supposed to be. The broth tasted thin and lifeless, closer to water than to ramen. It felt less like something crafted over time and more like something mixed together without intention. Even after adding copious amounts of hot sauce and fish oil, the ramen never came alive. Nothing could rescue it. It remained flat, empty, and forgettable. My wife's gluten-free ramen was equally uninspired and disappointing. Her reaction mirrored mine, which made the experience even more deflating. My salad was little more than plain lettuce with barely any dressing; I had to ask for more just to make it edible. Considering the prices, the value simply was not there. This meal did not justify the cost in any meaningful way. We both left dud not eat 70 percent of our bowls to disposed thrown away abd forgotten. For context, I lived in Tokyo for two and a half months and spent countless nights enjoying midnight dinner were ramen is special and lots of street food that I will never forget because of the magnificence of the food I had the privilege to taste and enjoy. True ramen surrounds you with warmth and delivers a deep, soulful explosion of flavor comforting, layered, and alive. What we experienced here felt like the opposite: food without soul, without seriousness, without craftsmanship. Yes, this is a popular place, which makes the experience all the more baffling. For us, it was a disappointing example of a booming operation that may have lost its focus on the fundamentals. A kitchen that did not stand up to its reputation. I fully recognize that great restaurants can have bad nights, and I sincerely hope this was one of them a cave wind of an off night rather than the norm. Still, last night's offering was sad and deflating, affecting both my wife and me. Dining out should bring pleasure, comfort, and connection; this did none of those. The only bright spot was our young server, who was courteous, attentive, and clearly doing his best. His effort stood in sharp contrast to the food coming out of the kitchen. Across cultures Amish, Hindu, Jewish, and many others food is an act of care, discipline, and respect. Even the simplest dish carries soul when made with intention. Sadly, what we were served here lacked that care, that seriousness of purpose, and any sense of craftsmanship. The drinks were so good, so smooth and very well made. The food was delicious love that we could pick a spice option and it was so delicious. Very filling.
