This is the slowest Tesla charger we've ever experienced and undeserving of the name supercharger. Their top speed was 289 mph, but it took us nearly forty minutes just to get 100 miles added. On the plus side, down below Mount Olympus (the Chargers are on a steep hill), you'll find a Shake Shack in the strip mall. Nice! This will make time go slightly faster. read more

I was curious to see what a charger with a restroom is like. We stopped by this place on our way back to LA and it was ugh... interesting. We turned right into an unnamed road. It looks like an abandoned shopping plaza besides the equinox at the entrance of the unnamed road and the wine and cheese place at the end. We came when the sun was setting and even though there were plenty of chargers open on the second level, it gave me a spooky feeling. We ended up walking around the entire plaza before finding the restroom lol and the restroom entrance ended up being to slight left from the second level location where we were parked at. I attached a photo of it. I remembered the code probably until half way around the block and by the time I found it, I had forgotten it and the husband had to retrieve the code in the car I was joking with him saying if I was trying to get away from a bad guy, I'd end up dying at the restroom door from not remembering the code. I was expecting the bathroom entrance to lead directly into a restroom stall. Nope, there's a small entrance, down a few steps followed by a small hallway and the restroom was at the end of the hall. Though very "temporary" in appearance, I was very thankful to even have a restroom to use while I charged. The forests and shrubbery surrounding the charging station is also kind of spooky. Needless to say, I am a city girl. Very used to having charging stations in the middle of malls and shopping plazas. Nice pit stop but... I wouldn't wanna come alone when the sun goes down. read more

There were a lot of open spaces for charging. It was after 5:30pm, dark, and only two street lights lighting up the area. There are some spaces where it looked pretty dark. There has been a few charging stations where there was no bathroom nearby. Everything was closed in this shopping center. This location has a bathroom and the code on your screen in the car. If you walk down the staircase, the building to the left had a bathroom door at the back of the building. There is one bathroom. The sink did not work but someone posted a sign giving instructions to turn on the faucet. I was just happy there was one. There were plenty of spaces here so it was a good location to charge up you car. read more

Actual rating 4.5. I'm very happy that a city as big as San Diego now has more than 1 supercharging station that services the entire city. Now that Tesla usage is becoming more widespread in the city, there's been a dire need for multiple charing stations just so the Qualcomm line won't be super crazy constantly. While the most convenient supercharging station is still Qualcomm due to its proximity to my work, this particular station will be my go-to should my family (or myself) take road trips. Unlike Qualcomm the service is not free, but I'll happily pay this considering the following: - 26 total charging stations. Keep in mind that there is NO LINE as the stalls are functional and there's enough stalls for people to use. Maybe this is because nobody knows about this station yet? (I'm the one that put the business listing up as well as the FTR). - Up to 72 kW charging capacity at $0.28/kWh. - While the majority of the stalls are on the upper level and are quickly accessible by stairs, there are two stalls that are ADA friendly and are marked as such. - The nearest bathrooms are the La Costa Wine Company on the same complex and the Starbucks across the street. - Places to eat are mainly across the street as the complex that the charging station resides is mainly dead. Hopefully with the installation of this supercharging station this should be an impetus to finally redevelop the Beacon. The area around the station looks pretty sad and is devoid of any activity. read more

Missing one star because there is NO BATHROOM!! Drove from San Diego to Carlsbad locale specifically because this location (supposedly) had a bathroom. I almost peed my pants to get there. I had to walk across the the street to a taco joint with a greasy bathroom floor - it was like a smelly ice rink in there. I almost broke my neck because Tesla can't update their maps. read more

I was very very thankful for this Musk given spot only a few exits away from my friends place in Oceanside. Every time I look them up on my dash, they usually have at least 10 chargers available. I slid in here earlier this afternoon and would've been towed out by AAA if I had to wait even a few minutes. One of my favorite Tesla chargers! I can go to work out at Equinox. I can walk my dog (noisy streets though) And now, Lofty coffee just opened a huge cafe at this location. Head on over there for the best coffee in San Diego! Once in awhile, there is a supercharger broken, but that happens with all the locations. This supercharger is located at a busy intersection of El Camino Real and La Costa. It is close to the 5 freeway so it is a good stop from LA/OC if your target is downtown SD. Also, this supercharger has excellent views of the sunset. read more

Great availability of chargers. This one was a little slower charging but the time goes by fast. I have my own charger at home but wanted to use my free 1000 miles of supercharging I got from a referral to a friend. It's about 8 minutes from my house so this is a convenient location. There's a Starbucks and Broken Yolk across the street and a Gelson's as well. I'm charging on Christmas morning and there's only 2 other Tesla's here. The 5 freeway is only 2 miles away so after charging I'm off to celebrate with my family! read more

Good place for emergency charge other than that one of the worse places to charge. You'll get 72 kW if you're lucky. No restrooms.

*~*~EXACT LOCATION~*~* The charging lot is on top of the hill diagonally from Equinox athletic club! To access it there's only one small driveway entrance with no lights around it. To access that driveway you drive roughly 50 feet south of the two Supercharger's that are located in the main parking lot in the back corner of Equinox. The entrance driveway will be on your left-hand side with the white brick building on your right side.*** (I personally had trouble finding it at first so I wanted to give detailed instructions to any fellow Tesla owners so they could easily access it!) I am constantly impressed with this place. Initially, there was roughly 10 charging stations but now they have greatly increase that number! I have never once had to wait in line for a charge, even during some of the most busiest charging times of the day. Sometimes several of the Supercharger's do not work but they are fixed extremely fast! If one charger does not work I suggest simply trying a different one if it is available. Additionally, there is a private armed security patrol the patrols the lot on a daily basis. Finally, if you are looking for specific times when the lot is pretty much empty I suggest going after 9 PM and before 7 AM. read more

The pros: lots of superchargers and fairly empty on a Saturday. The cons : superchargers are tucked away in a desolate area and it was a good thing I was with my husband because if I were charging there alone I would definitely feel unsafe. I would never go there as a woman alone at night. The restroom, by the way, is a joke! It is hard to find and down a dark long hallway that smells like mothballs. There were ants inside the bathroom and the faucet didn't work but thank God someone put up a sign with an illustration on how to Jimmy rig it so that you can actually wash your hands and get the water to come out. Come on Elon, are you for real? This does not live up to the Tesla brand. It's about as rinky dink as the distribution center. Just my $0.02. read more

Gorgeous drive to this Tesla Supercharger! Talking about rolling hills, wide streets, and lovely homes. I had a lot of fun heading to this station! I did not have any problem finding a charger and I came during peak hours. Starbucks and Gelson's Market is right across the street which is always a plus. I got to get my coffee fix and enjoyed lunch at Gelson's while getting the car charged. Just please be careful when walking across to the plaza because cars tend to drive fast up the hill to the stations and since most of them are Teslas you can't hear them drive past you. The Goods: - Starbucks and Gelson's right across the street! - Some shady spots to park - Front end parking options Aiight: - Not as fast as other superchargers Whack: - No side walks when you walk to the plaza across the street for Gelson's and Starbucks. Telsas were zooming through there! Felt like I was going to get ran over so be extra aware. - It is in an isolated location, I could imagine it being a little daunting during night time. read more

I've been charging my Tesla here for several years since this one opened. Availability is usually pretty good. But man, this place needs a V3 upgrade ASAP. Rare that I get above 40-50kw even if I'm the only one here! Ha! Cmon Tesla, this is a prime location. Need some love over here in Carlsbad. read more

Clean area but not the most convenient. The food places are across the street. The chargers are at a higher level so you'll have to walk down to cross the street. Probably not worth going up and down for a 30 min charge. read more

The station was misreporting the number of people using it, saying 10 of the chargers were available, but when I got there there were no cars. A couple of the covers were off the chargers so either they were working on them or someone was vandalizing them. Attempted to use 4 chargers, none gave the nominal 72kw rate, highest being 41, at 17%. Many jumped from 10-0-10 repeatedly. read more
