It was Sunday June 7, 2026 around 9:00 am when we arrived. It was a mad house. We turned in on the lane that takes you directly to the gas pumps. We were driving for a while and just decided to park so we could go in and use the restroom and get something to eat. After using the spotless restroom and cleaning up, we went to get our food. As I said, the place was an absolute madhouse, but it was good madness. To see so many people packed in one place with smiles and looks of joy on their faces. Great time's. I know it's just a rest stop but it's so much more. This place just makes people happy. It was still breakfast time so they were still serving the incredible brisket tacos. I absolutely love just the brisket taco with their green salsa. It's amazing! My taco was packed with brisket and comes on the fresh made tortillas they make right there in the store. My wife loves the brisket and egg taco just plain the way it comes. They are equally as good and also loaded with brisket and a good amount of egg. After getting our food, we went and got a few of the new Buc-ee's America 250 merchandise. We just got a couple of t-shirts and a fridge magnet. There is anything you can imagine in the merchandise section. After checking out, we went to our car to eat our food. Sitting there eating we just watched a non stop line of cars pulling in. It was like it was timed perfectly. Every vehicle seemed like they were spaced out the perfect distance from one another. It was like it was choreographed. We sat there for about a half hour watching this. It was hilarious. When we finished eating, we went to fuel up before getting back on the road. This particular day the gas was $3.47 a gallon. When we got back to Cave City, the gas was $3.74. Even with all of those cars coming in, there was no waiting to get to a gas pump. Buc-ee's is a fun place to stop in and grab a snack, have some awesome brisket, pulled pork, or beef jerky. It's just a wonderful place.

Their largest option is a medium compared to other shops. Parking can be tricky. It's a small parking lot so you'll likely have to maneuver parking on the side streets.

I asked my friend to come here since it was on the way to another destination. It is definitely a unique little building. The inside was rather quite interesting, one side is the coffee/bakery/market side. The other has inside seating. We definitely looked around and at the menu to decide what we wanted. They have a cooler in the middle of the store for drinks. Since we were in a hurry (to get to our destination) my friend got a bottled glass coke and I got bottled glass Fanta. The employee behind the counter was quite interactive and was interested in knowing what prizes we got after getting the stamps on the passport. I wish we weren't in a hurry otherwise, would love to have sat down and enjoy an iced coffee and maybe a bakery treat. There's always next time.

If you're visiting the museum and juicing up your car, it's great. But if you're looking for something else to do while filling up the battery, you're stuck. meijer, Meijer, MEIJER…read more I love you, Meijer, but there are times when I despise you. My history with Meijer goes back well over 30 years, having grown up in Michigan.  Before Walmart had 24 hour stores, there was Meijer, who opened 24 hours long before Walmart ever started. And then I worked for Create-A-Card (if you remember them), which had personalized card printing in, literally, every single Meijer location.  At the time I worked for Create-A-Card there were less than 50 stores.  Meijer and I go a LONG way back. So as far as big-box, full-retail stores go, it's always my go-to.   Groceries?  Check Sweat pants? Check Aquarium filters?  Check Windshield solvent?  Check Sharpies?  Check Self-Sealing Stem Bolts? Check ..and the list goes on. The staff at Meijer is usually very helpful (if a bit hard to find), and there's never a team member sitting around doing nothing.  People who work at Meijer usually have a great work ethic and I don't know that I've ever felt like I was bothering anyone when I would ask them where I could find self-sealing stem bolts. Likewise the store is usually pretty clean.  Not like Walmart, where it usually feels like you're walking into a friend's house, but that friend has 6 or 7 kids under the age of 7 and none of them cleans up after themselves or puts their toys away.  They often tend to keep the produce area pretty tidy, which is a challenge because of...produce. This location does a great job of keeping shelves stocked and tidy. They also don't clutter the aisles with pallets very often. I have one complaint.  One, single complaint about Meijer, and that is checking out.   As much as they would rather you use manual checkout, some people (like myself) would rather eschew the impersonal and actually have an interaction with a live human being. I hate and I loathe and I despise self checkout.   It's impersonal. The amount of time between "beep" and "place the item in the bagging area" is just about the shortest measure amount of time In The World. Produce is such a pain in the ass to scan at the self checkout Self checkout talks AT you, not with you. The Absolut worst thing you can try to check out with is alcohol. (see what I did there?) In general, I hate self checkout. As a result, I prefer checking out with a p-e-r-s-o-n, which leads me to my complaint (my self-checkout diatribe wasn't a complaint, it was more of a rant):  Meijer is *terrible* at opening up additional checkout lanes.  I mean, 4 to 6 people waiting in 4 or more checkout lanes, carts 2/3 full or more, and they don't open additional registers.  They'd rather have people wait in line for 15 or more minutes to check out than they would call up additional staff to get people cashed out. This, to me, is Meijer's biggest failure...and it honestly didn't start until self checkout got big.  We used to shop at Meijer every Sunday and would always go to the same cashier because your build up a rapport with them and it makes the process a little nicer than listening to a machine yell at you because it took 2.387 milliseconds too long to put that frozen burrito in the bagging area.
